You are one of very few RUclipsrs who mentions the advantages of the DC input. That’s probably the top reason I bypass hybrids. It’s so much more flexible than PD ports and monitoring internal camera batteries-especially now that we have micro v-mount options with constant percentage readouts. And let’s not forget that the CC can work as a full fledged live production camera. No one ever mentions that aspect, but plug into an ATEM switcher and you have instant remote control along with the ability to run a zoom rocker and focus demand if you want to have a camera op. And as the production turnaround pace continues to quicken, the coming cloud integration will help a lot of small operators stay competitive. Add a cellphone or hotspot to your rig and proxies can be headed to the cloud after every take. Add a remote editor to the mix and you’re cutting selects on the fly at a fraction of the Frame .io cost. But in the near term, I have the camera because of the filming flexibility offered by open gate RAW (and again that phrase)-at a fraction of the cost compared with cine alternatives.

Exceptional and very concise video. Packed with helpful info. I own the same cam. Image quality is the thing! I have notices some lines in my sensor across the whole image AND with ample lighting. You have to REALLY look for it and what I find REALLY interesting is you only see it when I use my vintage lenses which only have three to four pieces of glass in them. Guess it shows the high transparency advantages of a few vintage lenses.

Thank you for this review, best I've watched for practical use insights after watching the CVP review for the technical stuff. Nice one mate, as always! Thank you for this. With the OLPF, L lenses and wotnot, it feels a little like the unofficial slight upgrade to the S1H. Loving the XLR inputs, built in ND, and the gyro post for rolling shutter. How brilliant. It makes a compelling case for switching to Resolve!

@@the_black_douglas9041 how’s it an upgrade then.
      It isnt box.
      Both do open gate 6k.
      Both do Braw.
The BS1H and S1H are far better low light cameras with cleaner noise floor at high iso.
The BS1H has SDI, a hdmi that can deliver 5.9k signal (not limited to 1080p).
An optional Pre-Amp handle like the FX3. More SD card solutions

    • @the_black_douglas9041
      @the_black_douglas9041 7 месяцев назад +1

@@LukeBroadhurstfilm I didn’t mention the BS1H. Just the S1H. Going to a box form factor and losing IBIS is a downgrade to me. The BMCC gets built in XLRs, vs none on S1H, with phantom power and built in ND, vs none on S1H. I’d call that an upgrade. I owned an S1H for 3 years and now own a S5iiX, and whilst the second native ISO is good on S1H, it’s better on the S5iiX, though significantly different images. Re: the inferior upper native ISO performance on the BMCC, I’ve never owned one, have you? I’ll take the reviewers word for it on this matter. Weirdly the S1H offers 48 and 60hz open gate but then no 50hz. Sucks if you’re in a 25fps country. And an “optional” pre-amp handle” …are you referring to the DMW-XLR1? I’ve owned one of those since my GH5 days and it’s not a handle like that SONY thing with the stupid mic bracket you’re stuck with. Also, re: SD cards, I never used SD cards on my S1H because of the cost effectiveness and utility of the ATOMOS monitor recorders.

    Great video!
How would you compare the 6K FF and Pro against the 6K G2? I'm considering the 6K G2 over the other two, because the difference of the 6K Pro pretty much only is the built-in ND filter. I have a matte box with ND filters already. The 6K FF is full-frame, which can be worth it, but not sure if that's a big leap worth the money (€1k).
Currently have a rigged out BMPCC 4k (with ext battery, matte box and nd filters, ext monitor etc.) and I am also not sure if it is worth the upgrade to the 6k G2. The 6k G2 has a crazy deal of €1500 and if I sell the BMPCC 4k, it is only €400 extra for me to upgrade from the 4k.

actually i am thinking of keeping the ef mount right now just because it is so flexible. you dont limit yourself for one mount like with e mount or l mount. of course the new lenses are some way smaller and the AF is better but they are newer and therefore more expensive as well. Right now i just have the bmpcc6k and as much as i hate this damn ef mount i think the ef lenses are a pretty stable investment (kinda like pl) just because you are always safe witht he lenses, nonetheless the system you are working with. what do you think?

As someone who’s used both the Ursa line and the pocket (but not pocket anymore) line of cameras. Which do you find yourself grabbing first for smaller scale commercial projects?
I’m sure the overall ease of use, image quality and feature set of the ursa makes it a great all round to work with but the size and need for a decent amount of rigging makes me think it’s not always the go to for a smaller crew.
Or do you find yourself using both on most projects now?

Totally get what you're saying here. For me its like you want to use the smaller camera for smaller projects but the bigger camera is so easy to grab and use it hard not to make it the go too. For 90% of jobs at the moment I find myself having the Ursa set up for handheld/shoulder work, And using my pocket/full frame like a "rig" camera. I just confirmed the Sigma 24-70 does, but minimal focus angle is 360 and maximum is 720, meaning you can’t set it to very short for a quick focus racking (minimum is a full 360 rotation and maximum is 2 full turns.. thats crazy long lol). @@OBP_ it’s for the 6k pro, it fits perfectly on the full frame?

Yeah works just fine, just move the top screw back 1 whole and everything lines up perfectly.

Yep, love it or hate it, I think Pro Res in blackmagic cameras is over in any cameras moving forward.

I got mine, had sensor issues with horizontal noise lines. I sent it back, hope replacement would be fixed one. Otherwise, I'd give up BMCC 6k for good.

Same problem. I’m going to exchange mine. Hopefully it doesn’t have the issue. I emailed BM and they won’t acknowledge the problem

Why do you keep on saying upgrade when in real sense it's not an upgrade of any of their brand line? It's a new line, an entrance into full frame ecosystem. Not an upgrade of 6K PRO or any other... Great content though found it usefull!!!
