Read online that this lens’ electronics interfer with the new-ish Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k’s sensor. Was about to buy it and then pulled back because of that. Is this true?

Full frame is extremely over rated and the lenses are extremely heavier. Go with the GH7.

I just don't understand the comparisons. The S9 was not made and designed to compete with video production cameras. Its designed for a new market of content creators on social media. The fact that it can take the same video quality and have the same IBIS system is just the cherry on top. The S9 has an improved autofocus and has a hybrid zoom focus....that alone is a good reason to buy an S9 over the S5ii

You said nothing about internal mic`s and preamp and hdmi lag on lumix, wich are the worst I`ve seen .

How can you do that long of a shoot on the lumix, does it record continuously for only 30 mins or something like ? what do you use for batteries ?

I have a GH6 and have taken excellent photos and videos (including wedding videos) with it. If I was buying from scratch I’d buy the GH7 for its improved autofocus but it’s not that big a deal for me as I mostly shoot video in manual focus mode anyway. As I’m not into blockbuster movie production I don’t need the most sophisticated audio extras of the GH7 (with its adapter). Although I always shoot in 4K the reality is that when I produce videos the quality is often overkill for what people actually need (size of movie to be distributed / capabilities of TVs to play them / people who just view things on their phone or laptop, RUclips compression etc.). Hence, often it’s all too easy to update for the sake of it and the return on investment is questionable. Another point of reality is that sometimes you need to be able to quickly adapt to situations (particularly at weddings when people can move in front of the camera) and I’ve found it invaluable to have my iPhone 14 Pro Max on a gimbal to hand so I can quickly reach up and over to capture events that I’d otherwise miss. (The analogy is having a big luxurious car but there are only parking spaces available for a smart car !). Another very important factor is the capabilities of post-processing software for additional stabilisation of slightly shaky footage, noise reduction etc. Thus rather than just obsessing about the camera, the use cases and the whole photo / video ecosystem is what makes the difference. For travel, which I do a lot, size also really matters - in this case the smaller (and lighter) the better 🤣

I would buy a 1080p version of this for 400 USD. The problem with this is that for 300 USD more, you can get a zero latency terradek ACE 750. This seem to be the limit of what can be used for wireless follow focus and would put it at an affordable solution for the masses even at only 1080p.

Test footage looks so good, would love to try these out...

8:1 braw vs max codec on fx6 is straight away not right, whats the point of comparing sharpness at that setting when ursa is set to 8:1? both should be at same max codec, comparing cameras means comparing what they both offer at max codec why handicap one from the start... ended the test for me at that point,,, sorry

What about the dead pixels? Never happen to me on my Canon R7, R6 and C70. Did you get this problem again?

One thing you didn't mention is that both cameras put the gyro info into the file so you can fix stuff in post. The FX3 benefits from this a lot more as the IBIS is decent but not the best. 12,800 is more than usable if you're outdoors and not always in a studio setting, there's also ND you can use. I own both cameras. Due to the FX3 limitations, especially in external recording, the S3 is the better camera.

I think most people misunderstand how Accsoon wireless dual/tri-band systems work and why they are so reliable...they don't switch between these various frequencies but instead COMBINE the output from each band into a cohesive single stream of data packets and they have a patent for this technology that no other company can utilize...I have put the previous Accsoon Cineeyes 2S pro wireless system up against a Teradeck Bolt 4K (that cost ten times the price) and the Accsoon was FAR more reliable over much greater distances. I have just received my new Accsoon Cineview 4K system and it looks great after a quick test...I look forward to utilizing its low latency transmission capability for live production events in the coming year and I am sure it will be a reliable piece of quality gear for a fraction of the cost of the high end competition on offer.

Once you accept that even sony's af isn't perfect, Lumix and even Nikon offer more bang for the buck

I recently also got an opportunity to try these lenses from Laowa ... not bad overall. On your Burano, is there an Anamorphic mode? I recently tested it on a Venice and loved the look with the Venice internal anamorphic mode. But had to do some number conversions on my Sony Fx9, and though looked nice on the Fx9 really shined on the Venice.

Oh boy, the amount of misinformation for a comparative video is quite high.

What's the close focus performance? Do you need a diopter? If you were to buy just one, would you get the 42mm? It seems like the perfect allrounder focal length for anamporphics.

If you have clients who care about which brand/model you are shooting, which is very common in my market (Los Angeles), where a lot of our clients are relatively video aware or own their own cameras that you have to integrate your footage with), you are basically stuck shooting Sony. I have FX6, FX3 and showing up with a Lumix would not fly with about 60% of our clients. I'm not even a Sony fan (I much prefer the colors from Canon, BMD and Fuji) but since buying the Sonys, they pay for themselves quickly and then turn into a profit generator so I can't complain about the business model buying Sony. In the past, I've owned and used non industry standard brands of cameras, lenses, editing software, DAWs. audio mixers, mic brands and the trouble in NOT owning the industry standard is just not worth it. Just buy what your clients demand, fighting the battles is financially punishing. I used to be a Panasonic shooter and FWIW, I think the Lumix S5 II is an amazing camera, especially for the price, but that only flys if your clients are camera unaware or don't own their own cameras that you have to match.

So, panning around, close-ups, bit of slowmo etc. What focussing tips would you recommend that I use please? And any other useful tips or your videos that you can point me at? Since this is an old video you may already know now but when using an internal codec you'll get better white balancing by switching your WB node gamma to linear and using the gain wheel.

Leitz cinema lenses are very expensive, and not very popular with cinematographers. They are so well corrected for distortion, that the images look flat. As for a lens making digital capture look like film? Never gonna happen. Cinema lenses won’t even make your movie look like a movie. A good lens is simply … a good lens. Cinema lenses are no different than lenses for still cameras.

I have noticed that using the conversion Lut of Sony on Lumix Vlog, makes the Lumix Image better. the Sony conversion Lut is better that The Lumix conversion Lut for me. I shoot with Lumix S5IIX personally.

As a summilux facsimile it’s always disappointing to me when cheaper lens manufacturers try to copy the name of the lens they are “inspired” by. It screams cheap copy where as it would be much more authentic and trustworthy if lenses simply set out to do a job and they described the intention not the aspiration.

As a long time fujifilm shooter I just picked up a fx3 with a sigma art f2.8 zoom lens and the reason the fx3 is almost double the price as the lumix is because I can use my f2.8 at 102,400 ISO and clean that image up in post and basically get the same low light capabilities as a f1.8 prime on the lumix at 51,200 ISO. The ability to gather light is an extremely valuable feature. Light is EVERYTHING. Without the camera being able to pick up light your image will look horrible! You cannot ALWAYS light a scene but I have the ability to shoot videos in only moonlight as the light source lol! Also you get 4k120 with basically no crop and the lumix can’t even do 60fps without a 1.5x crop oh yeah the rolling shutter on the lumix is terrible. These are all very very important things to consider when you buy a high end camera.
