The price differences are almost nothing, considering what Sony GMs cost. I have spent well over $8000 in one day on lenses alone.

Really practical advice though I just bought aGh7 as an A cam. My Gh6 becomes a B cam. Allot of actors were impressed but no one else. B roll is so so important.

S5IIX autofocus is not the best. it lets you down when you want i. It's inconistent.

cheapest 1tb reliable cfexpress is 200€. so a fast 8TB module for 1600€ seems quite reasonable. i'd complain for CFexpress type A being expensive, or XQD on fx9 instead

Great tips here. As far as the “overpricing beats underpricing,” it depends on experience and salesmanship capabilities. If I were a client and needed a project shot with a $1,000 budget in mind, anyone that sent me a quote for $10,000 would immediately be ignored. Don’t undersell yourself, but also don’t shoot for the moon and miss out on jobs that you can bang out quickly. Competitive pricing is still key. If you're a beginner and make 10 grand on a couple of jobs that could've been done for way less, don't think that's guaranteed to happen perpetually.

I hate this titel. "Still worth it?" after 8 months? Come on. You spent so much money on a camera, that you made so much research about otherwise you wouldn't buy the camera would you? And now you suddenly gonna throw the camera out? The cameras are so good these days, that you really don't have any excuse to blame the equipment. The camera is worth it even in 5 years, you should just learn how to use it.

You can add more monitors. It must be the OWC-dock. I've got an EIZO and Viewsonic coming out of a Caldigit-dock with and M1 Pro and it works great using Displayport. HDMI is capped at 30Hz which is unusable to be, but the DP gets me 60Hz which is fine for rushes and dailies.

If you want a camera for real-time live production, you should know that URSA is a very fast camera with approx. 4 ms latency, whereas Cinema Camera 6K is a very slow camera with about 60 ms latency.

If you could only see the benefits of a 26 thousand dollar camera in post production vs the FX3 this is clearly by far a win for the FX3. Personally I'd take my FX3 and fx30 with phantom luts or arri lutz over any camera to date

I recently got the logitech master mx 3. Coming from gaming mice, the ergonomics of the mx 3 is very comfortable. Some downsides are the weight. Just a bit too heavy for my liking but not a deal breaker. However the connectivity issues that sometimes makes the mouse lag are infuriating. I’ve had more than several misclicks while using it. It happens both with the dongle and Bluetooth. And it does not support wired mode. 😢

I’ve been using my M1 MacBook Pro and have been having trouble getting good frame rate even using proxies. Did you ever experience that? The footage is 4K, but I use proxies when editing.

I've had a bunch of BM cameras from the original pocket 1080p to the Ursa Mini Pro. Being a former film guy, I will forever thank BM for getting me up to speed on RAW. I use Resolve studio and still have two of the old dongles. That being said. I own and love my RED. I have also owned many high end video cameras in the past. I am seriously considering a Burano because it's like a video camera with everything I need pulling it out of a bag with built in ND's, insane autofocus, and 16 bit RAW. We'll see. Oh, I should probably mention, I also have a Lumix S5IIX. If Panasonic resurrected the Varicam 35 with AVC Ultra 444 in a smaller package, L-mount, the autofocus I have in my Lumix with built in ND's etc. It would be an easy choice.

seconding the NAS. It's a big upfront cost but it completely changes the game. No more having to manage a growing footage archive across multiple drives, worrying if everything is backed up. Also if you have a good network, it's faster than a USB drive anyway (tho not as fast as an SSD, working off of it without setting it up in a way that sacrifices space you likely wont be able to work off of it, but shouldnt need to0.

you can output to more than one display with the Displaylink driver. Just fyi. I use that on mac minis with 3 or 4 outputs.
