Test cricket still has its own charm and is admittedly still the proper format of cricket but ODIs and to an extent T20s has been important to how cricket has evolved and has been an easier viewing experience especially for kids and mums and dads to enjoy a day at the cricket with out having to be there from late morning into the evening. The ODI might be relegated to history in 20 years, with T20 and Test matches being the only International matches. Test cricket would have killed the game, whether anyone likes it or not. It was only restricted to the Commonwealth. It's the same like baseball, which is not a global game. 5 days for a sport makes no sense at all, it is still kept alive as a namesake, think about it deeply.

T20 makes all teams very competitive and prone to upsets
ICC need to uplift ODI cricket... Big three nations are prioritising tests and t20s
@@mukulsahu1104 Agreed. I think ODI's are in trouble...
T20 will Gain more popularity as the untapped market catches on...
Test Cricket is still somewhat enjoyable when 2 good teams are playing like England India Australia..
For ODI cricket to remain relevant, they may have to reduce over from 50 to 40.
As it is ODI cricket has gone through a lot of changes over the years..
From 60 to 50 Over
From Red Ball to White Ball
Changing Powerplay Rules
Changing New Ball Rules..
At First, 1 Ball per Innings was the rule,
later it became 2 Balls from Two Ends ..
Then it Became 1st new ball for 35 over 2nd new ball for 36 to 50 Overs
Now again its 2 New balls from 2 Ends 🤷🤦
Very good comment. Be sure to check out my other video about Kerry Packer to see how cricket changed in the 70's.
At the end of the day, sport is entertainment. Cricketers are entertainers. The format that entertains people the most will survive.
@@shahkarim3394 Perfectly said. We often tend to forget that sport is part and parcel of the entertainment industry. The fans will eventually decide what they like or don't like.
T20 is great, but T10 you can fit in the duration of a normal football match.
I'm looking forward to T10 continuing to grow.
Any format that works to take cricket further to a global audience is a good thing.
@@CricketMachineZA nope. Audience expansion is not the be all end all when it comes to sport. When it just becomes a product solely to make money and as a way to make money from gambling, it no longer is a sport but just a business to screw as much money out of people as possible.
Same way odi was treated when it started
Exactly right. Check out my other video about the birth of ODI's. 👍
Right, so India win first tournament and the BCCI and their bunny the ICC had to make it the dominant form of the sport. Tragic, it’s still a meme format in my eyes.
Test>T20>ODI in that order
I agree with that. Stats don't lie.
Odi wc>>> 💩 t20 wc
Its not my cup of tea but i do like how it has unearthed many new talents for test cricket
But i still won't watch it because i just find it hard to follow the franchises and i do enjoy teams building an inning
Nonetheless it brings people to cricket and whilst it has a big following, its also a gateway into longer forms
Aaron finch for example has played for almost everyone on the ipl
I'm from melbourne yet victorian players are scattered all over and the two melbourne teams aren't really made of victorians
Whilst that doesn't bother me in sports such as football, I've been accustomed to a regional following in cricket not that people follow shield cricket though
It definitely opened up many other parts of the world to cricket. And many of those new fans also start to show interest in Test Cricket, so T20's serve as a great introduction to cricket.
T20 is where cricket prostituted itself. Now there's just too much! Goodbye test cricket!
There are too many Test cricket fans around the world for it to die out. I think ODI's might be in trouble though...
you saw the crowd at BGT and Ashes ?
T20 still to this day for me is not cricket. Crash bang wallop!. Really, is this what you really call cricket?????.
exactly test cricket is the real cricket
Cricket needs to grow and spread around the globe or else it will die
New generation needs fast paced short games which provide thrill and upsets
T20s does exactly that
@@leviackreman2310 Then those minority do not know what cricket is then!.
It's still a joke, a well-paying joke...
I prefer ODIs and tests...
exactly cause test is the real cricket AKA gentlemens game
I honestly think ODI's might be in trouble in the future. Tests and T20's are going strong.
Cricket T 20 format basically a entertainment.
Oh boy i still love test cricket its real deal
its because of t20 that players play ramp shots in test matches
It clearly worked for someone like konstas also every sport changes
@@shreyansh4u594 it only worked in one innings lmao
This is because of IPL ❤
IPL changed world cricket.
@CricketMachineZA yes
T20 cricket saved cricket , and i feel like bilateral series should be go off , franchise/club tournament should go on in t20 format..
I wouldn't say it saved cricket, but it definitely did more for cricket globally than Tests or ODI's.
Still dont watch t20 on a regular basis...
Gentleman's Game Ruined by T20
The Quantity is so much
Quality has gone down
100% correct.
It's still circus and business 😂😂😂😂😂hai
Pseudo Cricket fans Cry ABOUT T20i cricket Because their fav Team stands Nowhere there😂
Still Test cricket is the best❤
The pinnacle of cricket skill, patience and endurance.
It's test or T20....ODI is dead
I regret to say I actually agree with you.
It’s just not cricket.
True that 👍
Coming soon: T10 cricket
Nah its alwys gonna be t20
there already is T10 its just not international
@@king...675 it'll neber be
T10 is already here. And it's only getting more popular. All the arguments people use to defend T20 also apply to t10, in fact more strongly. I wonder if fans will realize how ridiculous it is when t10 becomes the most popular, or if they will continue to accept it as real cricket.
@@Aryan-mh9vdTo be honest T20 is the minimum possible balance between bat and ball competition, T10 is just too much one sided
T20 is the way to go. If you're watching 9+ hours of 5 day test and ODI and are not getting paid, you need to get a life...
But cricket is my life. 😄
T20 is money
and GREED HAS KILLED CRICKET
T20 is easier to watch & viewership obviously matters
T20 is definitely about money, but I don't think it's fair to say that it has killed cricket. I think quite the opposite really. Many people get introduced with T20 and slowly show interest in Test Cricket too.
Test cricket would have killed the game, whether anyone likes it or not. It was only restricted to the Commonwealth. It's the same like baseball, which is not a global game. 5 days for a sport makes no sense at all, it is still kept alive as a namesake, think about it deeply.
Not sure I agree with this. Test cricket is alive and well, it's ODI's that are struggling big time. Many other popular sports also last a few days, like golf, cycling, racing, ultra marathons etc.
@@CricketMachineZA None of the sports you mentioned are team sports nor are they popular to the common people. After football, rugby, it is cricket that's the most popular and is ingrained in the masses. Whether ODIs are struggling or not is a different topic altogether.
@sublimeranger I can't agree with that. If you look at the top 10 biggest sports in the world, football is first, cricket is second. Rugby is not in the top 10 sports in the world. That's not me saying that, Google and see for yourself.
@@CricketMachineZA Of course we can have differing viewpoints and disagree, the points that I am mentioning u can only understand with experience rather than stats.
@@sublimeranger But whether or not cricket is the 2nd biggest sport in the world is not an opinion or a point of view. It's a fact. There are more than 108 countries in the world that are officially recognised by the International Cricket Council and cricket will be inlcuded in the 2028 Olympics. What about that is not a global game?
I like odi cricket
Me too! I love all kinds of cricket. 👍
T20 seems to be a joke to destroy real cricket
I think ODI's might be in trouble, but Test Cricket is - and will always be - the real deal.
How???
T20 is still a joke.
People bashing t20s are either trying to blend in or are nostalgia merchants
Irony is that they probably have played less overs than 20 a side in their life
Like it or not, T20's opened the rest of the world to cricket in a way that Tests and ODI's never could. And that is a fact. But Tests will always be my favourite.
It is still not proper cricket.... remember that
It will never be Test cricket, but it definitely opened up cicket to the rest of the world.
I’d argue it still is a joke
Test and T20 cricket is the only way to go.
ODI's are in trouble.
@@CricketMachineZA i don't see ODI cricket surviving in Moder day cricket
I still say it is a joke.
A joke that took over the cricket world, but at least it's fun and shouldn't be compared to Tests. 😄
India winning 07 wc ws the crucial point
In fairness, it's still a joke
A fun joke, nonetheless. 😄
ODIs >>>>>> T20is
Holding was a jealous man
He was a cricket purist. Can't hold that against him. 😄
Holding is 100% correct.
