Disaster undone! Now for some heat. I guess it all could have gone totally Crobot, but the floor and fireplace look wonderful.
exactly....and on to the next disaster 😂😂 thanks ❤️
There's learning curves, and there's Crobot curves.
you there sure is 😂😂
I think the problem with the floor might be that the wood is rather absorbent. Try using more coats of a lighter finish..
Don't forget to seal those slate tiles too!
your actually very right there, its very absorbent, thats a good way , I think we will be doing a test piece thats for sure, thanks for your advice , seal the tile? ill have to send that info Beccas way thank you ❤️❤️
Great video. Bet the second round will be great. Hope all is well with you have seen news of all the flooding you’re having in England so sad seeing so many people out of their homes and all the damage. Can only imagine the river close to you must be very high also. Hope you’re enjoying the new stove area looks wonderful. Stay warm and dry looking foward to seeing the new floor and what’s next.
the flooding has been very chaotic, were about 5 meters away from alot of it but safe at the marina as long as it stays, luckily boats float so we have that in our advantage, but there are still quite a few safety measure you have to put in place, thanks for your comment
Happy new year guys, the fireplace looks great and nice work sorting out the floor. I'm sure it will look good when you finish it.
Happy new year Gary, Thank you lets hope we get moving very very soon :)
Its probably all done now. But i would use Colron dark stain. Not the B & Q water based ones for Jessies 😅 but the old solvent versions you can still get online or decorators merchants, they are absorbed better, with better build up Then clear hard wax over that.....
I dont think we did us a B&Q one, we used fiddes. Thats interesting thank you for your help
hey guys great video okay your floor what you really should have done is heated the boat up especially that floor got really really warm before you put anything down for a couple days but what I would have done is just gone through with a very high Grit in like a 1400 Red or higher sandpaper just light sandpaper that dark floor and put a sealer on it it would have been really nice you didn't have to go down again to White but now since you've done the whole floor my suggestion is mop it down really good just water dry it really good let it sit for a day after you done it then heat the boat up really really good into the high 70 Fahrenheit or higher for at least a day you want to honest warm boat where the floors warm before you add your stain once you staying at you know need to leave it set at that temperature for a day probably a second day then put your final ceiling coat over it but I think the floor looks fine personally for my taste that's just me Happy New Year
Yes you're so right, we were just in such a rush to try and get things done in time for Christmas, what a nightmare but we're back at stage one. Yes I agrees...a light sand and then a new clear top coat would have really made it pop. Thanks for your advice and happy new year ❤️❤️
happy new year from me and my husband who loves watching all your vlogs👍
Thanks for all the support, Happy New year to you both ❤️❤️
Buy a boat they said, cruise canals they said, it will be fun they said! Happy New Year best wishes for 2024.
I know ...what a nightmare of a few years, but we are looking g to leave these next month ,happy new year 😀
It's all coming together and looking really good, well done to both of you.
Thank you so much, we're so happy with how it's come out 😊
Holy crap, you did it with the hand tools &didnt go with a commercial grade sander when you did the floor! I can understand why (I assume), it was cause this way you both got everything done nearly at the same time& for Xmas. Rather than wait for the stove& then do the floor. Wow guys, that was some work to get through! Be honest .. how often while changing the pads & belt sander papers, did you feel like quitting?! Ive been there, so I know its a bloody nightmare. Everything hurts &as each day progresses the only thing that keeps one going is the fact that one does see progress & one does seems to move forward. With me though its my back& carpal tunnel issues that tends to tell me where my daily limits are, so I hear yah loud and clear: this was more work than most will ever understand. Well done the both of you!! Now pls for the love of all gods, buy new stuff (oil or stain)- do not use the old stuff for your floors. But by now I will assume once more you're already done with the job. I totally understand that most ppl vote for a lighter floor but you guys have said from the get go, you have a vision of what you want the floor to look like. I think I sorta know, like a well loved old library floor - one sees in movies etc. Its a very eclectic type floor that when pulled off properly makes everything warm &cozy, and not at all dark or dingy how some have said. I hope it worked &looks smashing.
Btw I dont think you guys got the short end of the stick every time. Just think how your YT channel has grown in leaps, and how much you two have gotten closer through it all. I mean a couple who gets through that, can pretty much face anything &remain together. So you both obviously picked well. Plus it is never good or helpful to only look at what isnt or what one doesnt have. You both will have your absolute dream boat that is more you than any other place will ever be. You can touch any part of this boat and tell a story of triumph. How many ppl can say that?! And yes, I understand financially its prob been beyond trying - but even that will sort itself out.
Now that you guys are done with the living room, there cant be all that many jobs left before you cut the chain from the Marina &escape? I assume you prob will wait til early Spring, doing some test runs whenever the weather allows it til then, to ensure Batteries and systems are all good to go. Maybe a blacking? And then it be go time in no time.
Now, do yourselves a favor &look up my own pers favorite quote on google. I have it hanging up, everytime I start some new. (Job, project etc). Its very fitting for you guys..
Its called:
The man in the arena
By T. Roosevelt
Here is to a rockin, fantastic, successful, amazing, smooth, and yes cruising the cut permanently .. 2024!
we got there in the end, about 3 days of sanding but all off now yay I think next time we may run. larger scale test and just with 1 coat before going full on in. Exactly days and days of it really takes it out of you. I can see why people would like a lighter colour but we do have a vision...it's just doing it the right way.
Your not wrong there are perks with working with card we have been dealt, weve managed to build up a lovely following of narrowboaty people, though at times I do wonder how much more DIY they can take, also buy the end of this we will be fully trained on the whole boat so probably a big advantage in the long run, we are going cruising this year...it has to happen, Thank you so much for your lovely words and support it means so much ,Happy new year
Fantastic job guys. At least you don't give up. I see so many boats half done because they realised its hard work. 😅😅😅 Well done. ❤
Happy new year rippers.
Thanks Will, you must be getting sick of all this endless DIY...I know I am 😂😂😂 Happy new year dude were cruising this year its happening
Floor and fireplace looking good. Happy you got them sorted. For what it's worth - I wouldn't go any darker with the floor. Have a great 2024. Happy new year.
its really going to be the centre point of the the living room, how exciting, than you so much ❤️ alot of people have said go lighter...but we do have a vision that were trying to achieve
im sure people have plenty of advice over your floor but if you have any of the wood left over from what you used for the floor use it as test pieces once you are happy with the results on the test pieces then you can do the main job this can go for any staining jobs on wood
thats exactly what we are going to try, maybe a slightly larger area then we know what were up against . thanks for your advice 😀👍
Well done, the tiles look great grouted, floor looks just like before. Great work
Thank you Bradley 😊
Well i do not know , as it was dark then it looked a bit nicer , until well . DIY bits and errors . Poo comes to mind .
yes I agree 😂😂
The rule is use a separate stain and clear varnish. Also if you push the belt sander at45* it removes more material. Tips for the future. Also use Osmo
Thanks so much for all the advice, We did see the OSMO we were under the impression this stuff was very similar....maybe not... time to try it on a test patch, Happy new year
Well done, guys - it’s looking brilliant and I do admire your tenacity. It makes me laugh when Chris pretends he’s the one who thought of solutions!
it helps me feel part of the project 😂😂 Thanks for watching 😊
Thank god you got that floor done, what a bloody awful job but once again it looks good and ready to go. Personally I’d go light only for the reason if it screwed up I’d not want to take the dark off again. But yeah looking forward to seeing the end result. The heater area looks great but I told you that, what a relief that must have been. When we finally got our wood fire going when we lived in Tassie we ran around naked (inside, to cold outside) in the warm to celebrate LOL. This is just getting closer and closer to finished. I’m so happy for you. See you soon guys. 💕
what a nightmare job but were back ready to start from fresh, I think the cold conditions didn't help, we are thinking of a possible lighter colour though we have a vision so maybe we will do a test piece first before going in full steam ahead. such a relief to finally have it all going, we cant wait to get cruising and start using this as our little off grid vessel take care Pauline and happy new year ❤️❤️
Gotta really admire your tenacity and dedication, I think a lot of folk would’ve thrown in the towel by now!
Happy New Year Lovely Pair! 😘🌻❤️
its been very tempting, we are planing on heading of in the next moths, im not sure how much of this marina life we can handle thats so much for your support ❤️
Happy new year
Happy new year ❤️❤️
Hi Becca, Chris, Really good to see the "Big Heavy Thing" again, and also the Titan making an appearence. What more could we ask for? I was well happy with the Dramatic music. The Floor is looking really good after all your hard work sanding it down again. I do feel for you both with that. Becca Has done an amazing job getting the stove finished. It looks great. I'm confuswed, I seem to have seen the stove (previously) all finished, together with the copper seal on the roof, or did I dream that? Great teamanship, and of course we have, as always Chri's Fantastic editing (such a joy to take it all in). Another great Vlog. Thank you. Happy New Year to you both. Spoolbox
Hi and Happy new year spoolbox, yup the return of the really really heavy thing, at least it's all up and we constant again from fresh. yes sorry we wanted to make sure that we put the Christmas video of it all finished out on Christmas, so this and the next video a from the weeks before that, sorry if thats a bit confusing, thank you so much for sticking with us , this is our year ...we have big big plans finally :)
Thought that was you guys Narrowboat Disaster at Barrow on Soar.
I'm over the floor now. But this is boat school - you're learning so many new skills. I'm impressed that you're not afraid to redo your first, second, third or even your fourth attempt. "Always Improving" ❤
its been boat school for nearly 3 years 😂 will get there we have learnt a hell of alot, next up will be learning how to live off grid ❤️❤️
Carpet sounds good
I'd only it was that easy 😅
Oh dear...keep it light...I got litres of bona floor sealer if you want...costs over £100... Free to the bodge bots 😂 !!!
Thanks Tom that's so kind, we do have quite alot of this one left but I think we will probably run some test patches first
Really great videos and content as usual…happy new year to you guys !
Thanks so much for all your support ❤️
Aww you poor things 😢however things are looking great now the grouting is complete and the floor looks better that before 😅 well done you got there in the end and just think your another step closer to your travelling the canal networks.
Happy New Year 2024 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
what a nightmare 😂😂 it would only happen to us. weve got it back though so its all done, we cant wait to cruise this year ❤️❤️ happy new year
Wishing you a fabulous New Year. Bec you have the patience of a Saint. All the best.
Bless you, Happy new year from the Crobots ❤️❤️
Hey guys... If at 1st you don't succeed. Try, try again lol. Can't help feeling for you tho 😮. Hope 2024 gets you on the wet road of narrowboating! Happy New Year 🎉❤
exactly, we got it all of in the end, now to do a test piece maybe and start from fresh Happy new year
All that work to correct that whopping booboo... feel for yas !!! All those different colours of wood 😂 🤮 love the fireplace guys!!
Bless you, Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Great job sanding that blimmin floor - nightmare! Why didn’t you just flip the boards over though?
what a nightmare, well we would probably have to sand them again to get them all level plus they are nailed in, It would probably make very good viewing 😂😂
Chris you’re a bloody super hero doing all that sanding ! Where’s that man gone who had no confidence in his diy skills. Becca the tiles are stunning ! I hope you’re proud of what you’ve achieved.
Happy new year to you both ! Let’s hope you finally get the boat moving this year !
Love you guys ! 🎉 happy new year 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
awww thank you, we had a good system and I was glad to keep my head out of trouble whole bex worked on the fire place. Happy new year Mandy and were hitting it hard this year so we can finally live off grid, Take care ❤️❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot legends both of you xxx
If it wasn't for bad luck you pair wouldn't have any luck at all!!😂 I think Chris used up his lifetime supply of luck when he met Becs. I have to give it to you though, you don't give up and that's what counts. Hope to bump into you on the cut one day soon, not literally of course.😁
if it happens to anyone its us isn't it😂😂 you have a very good point there, cant wait to see you guys on the cut this year, it will happen, take care Phil
Happy new year guys ❤ you did a great job sanding the floor Chris and Bex the fireplace looks fab 👌
Happy New year Lisa thanks so much, fingers crossed we get going in the next months 😀😊
I’ve never seen a man work so hard 😂
Time to party🎉🎉🎉🎉
Lucky Bex was there, to help out, in your hour of need 😂
exactly too right 😂😂
Grand job on getting floor ready for next time and tiles looking great hope you have a Hapoy znew Year tc now 🎉🎉🎉🎉 the oldiesx👍🤗🤗
Happy new year guys here's to new adventure cruising the boat this year, thanks for all your support this last year ❤️❤️
I'm a little bit worried about what you say by the intro "... our first ..."
Do you intended to buy another one when finished all these DIY?
I can see how that sounded, no it was referring more to letting new viewers know its our 1st boat and were new too it, though a 2nd boat without any problems would be nice 😂😂 thanks and Happy new year Rolf ❤️
Use a rag to put the floor stain on with.....take your time and rag it on! Or just varnish it using extra tough floor varnish.
Yes we keep hearing this more and more, thanks for the tips
If that had been me I would have turned the planks over. Yes, I know it would have been more work but sod all that sanding. You two are pure troopers and no matter how hard the task has been you have triumphed. Happy New Year and its been a pleasure watching you. Carry on Modernising. xx
we cant really there nailed down, it would be a huge job and then we would only have to sand the new side again to too to make sure there all Level. quite a few people have said this though. Sanding was not fun haha thanks for watching have a lovely new year
Yes I agree they certainly earned a gold star for their continued dedication and attention to detail 😊 Well done you two😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉
Looking great, yes we all learn from our mistakes, hope you both had a lovely festive break, all the best for the New Year
We really do. We are learning everyday. Thanks for joining our adventure
Masses of work, both of you, well done. Happy 2024!
Thanks for sticking us Happy new year ❤️❤️
Another video from the stationary crobots, I don't think you have any intention cruising.
It is getting silly I agree, but a full complete refit like this when we don't really have the carpentry skills takes a long long time unfortunately, it's been a extremely frustrating process
Happy New Year guys - THIS IS YOUR YEAR!!!! ❤
Yesssss we like this, Happy new year ❤️❤️
happy new year to you both.
Happy new year to you 😃
You could try paint thinner/mineral spires and steel wool ( fine ) . Just a thought
Thats a really great idea Thank you, we are going g too be doing a test piece fir sure next time we try 😀
I love Beca's comment "Cheeky Bugger." You go Beca.
she doesn't hold back does she 😂😂
Floor looks good again but pleeeeeze don't go with that colour again how about a nice light stain to preserve the natural wood colour ? Don't wanna make that interior too dark eh ! 😉
we are looking to maybe go 1 coat because it looked quite good, but we will be doing a test first , lighter colours do bring in a bit more room but we do have a vision , Thanks Dave
More weight on the sander, have you seen a hire belt sander, about 20 kg!
Hmm good idea
its coming along
were getting there.....very slowly 😂😂
Dont do it, just dry wax it with a cloth and try a small area first. You two wears me out, init. 😂
Haha yeah we will be doing a test patch next time, thanks for your support
Happy new year 2024 🎉🎉🥳 🎉
Happy new year Tina❤️❤️
Great video keep up the great work both and Happy New year to you both 👍
Thanks for all your support through the year, happy new year🥰
i use the adhesive as a grout , easier,, you still got to do the edging around the tiles
thats interesting thanks so much for your advice
Nice one. Looking good have a Top new year 🙂🎸🔧✌️
Thank you have an awesome new year😃
You can get a belt cleaner for your sanding belts
never knew that....now you tell me 😂😂
Hate to be in the boat next door lol your doing well the pair of you
luckily everyone on the marina works on there boats so there doesn't seam to be many problems , Thanks Dawn
Oh, what a mess!
That didn't quite work out did it 😂
Use stain on the floor, apply with a rag, not the thick waxy stuff :) Great to see the first 2024 vlog guys :)
Thanks for your tips, I think we will do a test patch next time, what a nightmare, happy new year 😊😀
@@TheNomadicCrobot Happy New Year :)
Please please don't use a brush . USE a cloth and rub it in. It will look just as awful if you use a brush. Yes the tin says brush but NOooo
oh really, yes the tin did say a hard brush, maybe we need to look into this a bit more before going ahead, thank you
@TheNomadicCrobot please do. Rub it in like it's a wax and buff out excess. Try on two bits of wood. One with brush one with a cloth. Plus you don't get any brush marks. Happy New year and good luck..
Please please don`t put that cack back on the floor , i can`t bear to watch you sanding it up a second time, what`s that saying about madness and doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different outcome.
well the first coat looked good, and the weather conditions were completely wrong, so we will be doing a larger test piece first whatever we do
Thats a good plan , all the floors we do are coated with Ozmo oil which is easy although are usually hardwood like your kitchen so a stain would have to be used first probably , good luck the fireplace looks spot on.
Could you turn the floor upside down?
Not really, but now it's sanded back we should be be good to go again 😃
The best way to start the year happy new year guys 🎉❤
thanks so much ❤️
I've used the exact same stain on the exact floor sorry to tell you this stain always leaves a chocolate stain 😢 good luck
oh nooooooo 😂 well we got it all up, fingers crossed next time will go smother
Happy New year🥳🥂🍾🎊 love your channel from Australia Blue Mountains ❤
Happy year and new adventures ahead 🎉🎉
Happy new year Penney, here's to cruising this year ❤️❤️
You need a scarifier on the floor ?? That would take the top layer off ?
Bearing in mind I’ve commented after 30 seconds of the video , so I haven’t yet seen the end result???
it was a nightmare but we got there, thanks for your advice think that could have helped alot
Can't wait to see you on the cut this year 😊.
It needs to happen these next months it's getting silly, thanks foe sticking with us happy new year 🥰
good vid on channel thanks lee
Cheers Lee 😃
How you doing with the floods, just seen a video of the lock keep safe ❤
Yeah I saw that b

Happy New Year to you both. That sanding looks like it was hard work. Hope you have now got the colour that you were looking for 😄 Well done for getting the tiling completed and the copper installed. That looks really good. Take care. Nick
Happy new year Nick, what a job hey but we got there, Bex has done a great job on the fireplace, here's to cruising early this year :)

well it was big disaster in a way....but correcting one 😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot yes but nothing got destroyed. 😂 and I have nicknamed the girlfriend Titan 😂😂😂
Happy New Year!!!!!🎉🎉🎉 You certainly accomplished a lot of work, and Chris helped!!!! 😇☺️ Seriously, good work you two. I like the floor light, but I a, sure you have something spectacular in mind and I can’t wait to see it. Looking forward to a great year watching you cruise!

Happy New year Kathy, we have done so much it can be easily forgotten. Thank you so much for all your love and support through the year it means the world to us ❤️❤️
Always feels better getting a wee bit of forward momentum B & C, keep going! Tiles look great, another rabbit's-nose-bum moment, will be drilling through, fixing the stove to the floor. It's a shame to drill through such perfect work, but if you're moving through the network, It will save that movement on the flue joints, it's maybe a bsc point nowadays too!? All the Best for '24. Mike & Marmite
were not looking forward to drilling through the tiles on the floor, we have the diamond drill....time to prey the tiles dont split. We are getting there, Thanks so much for the support 😊
Happy New Year Bex and Chris. Wishing you both good health and a cruising Narrowboat in 2024. Love sent from Wisconsin, USA. Deb

Happy new year Tony ❤️❤️
I feel your pain. I found out the hard way that wood stain color can come out differently, depending on what type of wood your staining . What a disaster. Can't wait to see how your flooring comes out. Wishing you a very Happy 2024
it really is, I think a proper test will have to take place on maybe a larger sample piece. Happy new year and thanks for all the support ❤️❤️
Well done getting that floor back with them sanders that is some task 😂 Try applying the stain lightly with a rag to a sample piece of wood till you achieve a finish that you’re happy with (I use wire wool between coats rather than sand paper it’s less dusty). Fireplace looks killer Becks 😉👊💚
what a big old job, but we got there, now to try and it it properly. were going to go with sample idea...maybe on a larger bit before going in on the whole floor again, That fire place looks soooooo cool, thanks so much 😊😀
Corse paper more pressure and across the grain ❤.
thanks Martin 😊😀
@@TheNomadicCrobot I know it was too late but something to think about next time haha. A very happy new year to both of you .

Stove area looks great guys !!! Is it my imagination.........or does the boat look low in the water at the stern ??😳 Happy New Year to you both !!
Maybe it's time to check the bilges again for water 😳 happy new year steven
Happy New Year!
Happy new year ❤️❤️
Fair play to you both its not easy renovating anything and no matter what mistakes or change of mind, some things have to be redone. Try very thin coat of the tinted wax, put on with a lint free cloth and really rub it in, more coats are easier to do than removing a coat or layer. Fire pace looking great.
Thank you, thats it...1 step back, but will get there, maybe doing it once the weather is a bit warmer could help things, Thanks for all your tips
Oh no guys 😅
It's all learning they say 😅

Glad to see the tiles all done, and the floor (almost) done, but yes, get some heat going before the next stain goes down, and go light with it, you can always darken more, but you can't lighten. Summer next so it's cruising time guys 🎉
