Quick statement: at 14:57 I said the God Hand are benevolent creatures, I meant to more so refer that they are godly beings themselves, mistake on my part
I've always taken Jill in Lost Children to be an allegory for Guts as a child. All the things Guts says to Jill during the entire arc can be taken as him processing his grief and coming to terms with everything he experienced as a child, finally accepting the path he has been thrust down. "There is no paradise for you to escape to."
I love this, it makes sense, Guts sees himself in Jill, coming from a bad home, and wanting to escape to somewhere safe. Another point I didn't bring up, is seeing himself in Theresa. Guts starts to cry when she says how she'll kill him one day, because he knows the pain and anger she feels towards him
@@ModernVagabondIsHere Yes exactly that! Down to the blissful friendship of Jill & Rosine / Guts & Griffith juxtaposing the tragedies to come. Theresa is a great example, agreed. There is something to be said regarding their placement in the overall story as well - too many people sleep on Lost Children. But to cap it off, I feel there's some motif regarding Guts & children in general.
@@ModernVagabondIsHere If Kouji Mori and Studio Gaga are planning to reintroduce Theresia in the next arc after the destruction of Elfhelm (maybe as the new leader of the Holy Iron Chain Knights and since Guts and his group had gone full MIA since Ganishka's downfall, she and the HICK could be the new monster hunters of the land), Guts and Theresia's reunion and possible fight will definitely be a mix of Guts and Griffith's reunion at the Hill of Swords, Guts and Casca's fight at the waterfall (but without the bang bang stuff), Guts and Rosine's fight at the Misty Valley (especially if Guts' group is present), the 2 fights between Guts and Zodd (if this fight happens after Guts gains some power boosts I'm expecting him to gain), Obi-Wan and Anakin's duel on Mustafar, Hild and Thorfinn's reunion on Vinland Saga and Sasuke and Itachi's reunion and fight during Naruto Part 1 and Shippuden!
In my personal belief, Griffith is lying when he tells Charlotte that he doesn’t view anyone as his true equal/friend, as I believe he sees Guts as both, but he can’t allow himself to truly think that, because it would mean he finds himself weak, because he as a pure human always felt he was better than everyone else and part of why he chooses to sacrifice his entire army is him proving to himself that he doesn’t need or view anyone else as being comparable to him, which would mean he isn’t the God that he believes he is hence why he directly says Guts is the only person who ever made him forget his dream
The moonlight boy is guts and cascas child, him and griffath share a body so his feelings for casca come from her son. Taking her, controls the moonlight child
@@mscj4710 well sure, but griffath doesn't know that, or atleast we aren't given reason to believe he knows where the boy goes. I wonder if the boy focused so much on casca in the last few stories because he knew she would be in danger while gut fights.
@@TheAnonyomusGuy I just remembered when the gang is on the beach before the crocodile attack & the moonlight boy shows up, you can see Zodds silhouette against the moon, so Griffith had to have had some idea of where he was going, even if it was only after the fact.
You may be brand spanking new, but this felt like videos from channels that have been around for years. Excellent work my guy! You can only improve from here! And I'm all for it!
Griffith: a man who’s ambition/dream mattered more to him than the ones who died believing they too would share in the same dream as him. He didn’t care for them when he was human and even more when he became Femto. Only thing that he ever cared about was achieving his kingdom. Any person in the way of that he saw as his enemy and needed to be destroyed. Guts: a man who’s life was riddled with suffering, pain, loss, despair, rage, perseverance, endurance, war, scars, and defiance even from the very beginning of his life. He’s a person who is in a constant struggle against fate (causality) and his own ruthlessness. He pushes onward even if it means he has to claw his way forward. He also fights against his own self in the hopes he finds the very object of his hatred. A timeless classic and a reminder to keep moving forward despite the obstacles in front of you.
What an amazing first video! I just finished catching up to Berserk and I am completely enveloped in thinking of what guts, Griffith, and casca truly represent in our lives
Loved your video! I would love more exploration on the trauma built within Berserk. I feel as though every strong character in the series has been violated to the highest degree of a living soul, and how that carries a lot of weight throughout the characters progression
A core thing I think everyone loves Berserk for, hearing you point out that it has just about every kind of theme one could think of, is that we could've just had what the '97 anime did and seen everything Golden Age had to offer, seen a few characters that would later return after the Eclipse as well as of course the Eclipse itself and end off wondering if Guts ever made it out alive or not. It's that even with what we got after the Eclipse from Miura himself before his passing, instead we're treated to much more content that far outweighs the amount of material that made up everything of the Golden Age. We only get all these themes purely from how longform and comparable to seeing someone's actual real life is through Guts' story and the world of Berserk as a whole, slowly changing over time and yet still telling just the one story at the core of everything. The real tragedy though is that Miura may have died never knowing just how much of a genius and inspiration he actually was, but wherever he is now I, much like every other one of us strugglers, hope he died doing what he wanted no matter what. I'll bet he was happy
Great video and summery of the Berserk, its about time to read again the series. Specially that last chapters really got me into kokoro, moonlight boy wearing berserk armor and everything else unfolding...
I await to see what comes next in the story since chapter 372 is coming April 28. I like the parallels between Griffith and Guts, from their appearance to how the world views them. I mostly deduced that Griffith took Casca to hurt Guts, because of Moonlight Boy and to destroy Elfhelm. I hope Casca will be prominent in the upcoming chapter, her character needs to overcome her trauma and can play a big role into stopping Griffith once and for all.
Hey man, great video! If you have read or seen Vinland Saga or Monster I highly recommend looking into making content on those stories. Lots of similar themes but also lots of unique aspects. Keep up the great work!
Also, to follow up with the ending! I'm not sure what to go with next. Doing berserk videos is definitely a good choice It's a story that's very near and dear to many people
Btw the behelit related stuff werent Griffith's true intentions, he didnt know about the ceremony, if you remember he thought it was an illusion, since he has actively hallucinating and going in and out consciousness .. also one thing you can say Griffith never thought of anyone as a friend but Guts , no. Even the hardcore Griffith haters agree because Griffith himself says that Guts was the only one of his allies or foes who made him forget his dream. He was trying to charm Charlotte that night at the Primerose Halls , knowing her hatred of violence and bloodshed he was trying hard to paint himself as this visionary who was doing what he must for a greater goal, sadly Guts took it the wrong way and the whole 1 year shenanigans and the Eclipse. But now Guts is the one with the dream, and a genuine group of comrades ready to do whatever for Guts, while Griffith has to use his power to control his subjects, best shown with Mule... they basically reversed roles, just Guts is much more genuine, and that iswhy he wilkl prevail
This was your first video? How long did it take you? It came out great! Your passion really shined through, and I listened to the whole thing like a podcast while building my cosplay dragonslayer (had to restart and rewatch for the video when I head this was your first). What to do next? Hmmm, well... While more Berserk content is always welcome, I'd say you should do another passion-project next. Hope to see more from you!

Guts is a man who looks like a monster, a dark knight who serves the light, Griffith is a monster who looks like a man, a white knight who serves the dark.
Remember both Griffith and Void are incomplete their contracts with the Idea of Evil have never been completed Griffith still has 2 sacrifices he hasn't successfully delivered to the abyss Guts and Casca technically 3 their unborn child whom he consumed he'll never have all his power Void can't completely predict the flow of causality that the Idea of Evil conteols becuase his last sacrifice King Gaseric/Skull Knight has never been delivered to the abyss either.
I think he might stroke Griffith down, but the blow will separate Griffith and the Moonlight Boy and Guts will have to finish the fight on the Astral World in the place where Femto and the rest of the GodHand are resided!
Ying and Yang to me. Look at the symbol and the character clothing. In Darkness, there is Light. In Light, there is Darkness. It's can be reflected with the false prophet in Revelation of the Bible. Wolves in sheep clothing.
Griffith wasn't thinking about doing Guts while with Charlotte, though. He was thinking about Guts, someone he deemed as lesser than, not only leaving the Band but besting him in a duel as wellItit was purely egoistic/narcissistic injury, not romantic. 🙄
I made it a bit more exaggerated in the video, but you're right. It was him thinking of Guts in a way of feeling less powerful, as if he was forced to submit to Guts, and that's why he felt the need to take control of Charlotte
@@ModernVagabondIsHere Griffith thinks that everyone is his pawns (chess pieces) to eventually form his accomplishment (ambition). Only problem is that Guts went on his own path. Guts (a powerful piece of chess) is a devastating piece. Griffiths lost control when he became a Lord nobleman because most of the troops almost sided with Guts. Maybe that is why Guts has to leave because Guts and Griffith will have a conflict later on if he stays. A power struggle within the camp.
The moon light boy is still Guts and Casca son it was their child's body who gave Griffith a physical form... the reason Griffith took Casca was because as the moon light boy he always returns to his mother and its almost as if when that happens Griffiths Consciousness is suppressed boy. This is a major weakness for Griffith it brings questions to mind like what if guts killed the moonlight boy would Griffith lose his physical form and not be able to walk the physical plan like the other god hand. So to prevent that weakness Griffith takes Casca to be close to him so that when he turns to the moon light boy he is still in his kingdom and not random places.
That will break Guts and Casca's heart once they learn this revelation, that killing their son may be the only way to kick Griffith out of the physical world.
