I bought a flat brush and i love to work with it. Because i woul'nt wait longer, i went to the next Artist Shop and took a Da Vinci Spin no.30, synthetic( because some vegans maybe want to know). Very good for big areas and painting with the corner for exactly working. Thank you very much Mr. Chen for your advice and knowledge, thumb up for beeing the greatest teacher for me! I lern a lot and i enjoy painting with you so much!👍👍👍👍👍
Gorgeous painting to watch. Love all the details & your instruction. I will be watching more of your tutorials. I’m so glad to have found your channel. Blessings ❤
Your paintings are superior. I can see that you are serious about the quality of your painting. And I appreciate the way you help us to learn your techniques by showing us in steps. You have a lot of patience which makes you a pleasant teacher !! I'm happy to find you !! 🎨🖌️ THANKYOU.
Tiny marks say so much! Love the simple beauty that fits this small bird in the snow! You are such a good teacher! Water color can be challenging to not over do it! Patience is key! Thank you!
Of course, this is also talent, but above all a lot of practice. Brushwork needs to be practiced and also that you are familiar with paper and colors and have an idea of what you want to paint and how it can work. Mister Chen has been painting since he was a child. Later he graduated in Cina - I think this training was unfortunately not recognized in America, but he did not give up and still studies there and also teaches very well, as you can see. A real artist and great teacher!
Just found your videos and subscribed! I've never seen snow done in the way you did it! I will be trying that technique! I appreciate your quiet, patient, informative teaching style! Thank you!
j'aime beaucoup vos aquarelles, merci ! I love this one, so ... ... j'ai envie de peindre ! 🌿🎨⚘j'ai l'impression que la palette restreinte à 3 couleurs donne une belle harmonie
The best simple tutorial ever!,,,,on watercolor, love it that your using the perfect Chinese painting brush, calligraphy brush and also Chinese painting brush , this brushes becoming distinct, because they are made of real animals hair,Zoe
Thanks greatly Yong for sharing your talent in watercolour painting, I'm enjoying your videos and how you calmly explains what is done to achieve detail depth and colour. Thanks greatly appreciated stay safe and healthy
Thank you sooooo much for taking the time out to share your skills/gifts with us! I'm going to watch this again & keep trying! I'm definitely ordering a calligraphy brush too! I always wondered if they'd be a good watercolor brush! You're brilliant!
i love the softness of this one. I have got it all wrong with my first attempt. i lost the light and over worked the feather, i give it a go again...Thanks for the video!
That's funny, I beat you to it; just the day before yesterday I drew a snowbunting in pen and watercolor. Very similar to the bird you are painting in this vid, same pose, also standing in snow.
One of the reasons that Yong likes to use paint rather than pencil to draw for a painting is that once the paint has been applied to the paper, you can no longer erase the pencil lines. Some artists don't mind if pencil marks can be seen, but Yong thinks the painting looks more professional if there are none.
Yong uses Winsor Yellow, Winsor Red, and Winsor Blue green shade. If he adds another blue to his palette, it is Winsor Blue red shade. The red shade makes a more beautiful purple color when mixed with red.

Yong Chen is to watercolor as Tom Petty was to music. Eloquent sharing of the talents possessed and a love felt for their jonre’ that radiates beyond for others to benefit! They each put forth a perfect concert. Tom in his music and Yong in his art!

I love how you just threw some water on the background and it looks like soft snow! So pretty :)
Beautiful work and explanation! How frequently do you go live? Any fixed days and time?

i love the softness of this one. I have got it all wrong with my first attempt. i lost the light and over worked the feather, i give it a go again...Thanks for the video!
Did you try again? You can do it!
I like it, the bird a little bit muddy and the snow needs some more work. Too many harsh edges. Great painting.
This is so BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing!
So beautiful.......as usual.....wonderful.....many thanks ...
Beautiful!
Lovely painting.
I love the wet into wet which is challenging to do.
So relaxing to watch, thank you!
That's funny, I beat you to it; just the day before yesterday I drew a snowbunting in pen and watercolor. Very similar to the bird you are painting in this vid, same pose, also standing in snow.
Thank you for this tutorial.
Beautiful
So enjoyable watching you.
super Bild! Danke für das Video!
This is so good~!! ^^Superb 🥰
Another beautiful great video!
love your videos
Lovely! Thank you!
I really like this little bird and the background is awesome, however the scratches confused me can you explain a little bit . Thanks for sharing
The scratches are used to create tiny, soft feathers.
Was that a graphite pencil? Great job! I think i may have mistaken your brush for a pencil! Lol
If I wish to show you my Painting where can I post it
Marvellous sir....👌👍
gorgeous painting, thank you for sharing your process. I was curious if you erase the pencil marks at the end.
One of the reasons that Yong likes to use paint rather than pencil to draw for a painting is that once the paint has been applied to the paper, you can no longer erase the pencil lines. Some artists don't mind if pencil marks can be seen, but Yong thinks the painting looks more professional if there are none.
May I know what kind of paper you use for painting?
Yong used Arteza 140 pound cold-pressed watercolor paper for this demonstration. It is very similar to Arches which he also uses often in his videos.
Thanks for your demonstration!Could you tell us the hue of yours primary colours
Excuse me... continued.... are they cool or warm? Thanks another time

I tried the water splatter a few times but failed to get that effect, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.. When is the right timing?
Nice
Superb 🥰

Coming to our city?
HI Vikki, Yong hopes to travel across the US in two years. Hopefully your city will be on the tour.
