GORGEOUS. opal os my absolute favorite and im very picky about synthetics, this is incredible for not being some fancy lab setup. also, perfect for october!! its this months birthstone :)
Daniel, you should make a series where every month you focus on making each months birthstone. Maybe take a bit further and try various ideas throughout the month. You're talented and think outside the box enough that I am comfortable betting money that you would absolutely nail it every month.
January is Garnet February is Amethyst & Jasper March is Aquamarine, Jade & Bloodstone April is Diamond, Clear Quartz & Opal May is Emerald, Sapphire & Agate June is Moonstone, Pearls & Alexandrite July is Ruby August is Peridot, Spinel & Sardonyx September is Sapphire, Agate & Moonstone October is Opal, Jasper & Tourmaline November is Blue & Yellow Topaz, Pearl & Citrine. December is Tanzanite, Turquoise, Zircon, Onyx, Ruby & Blue Topaz. I have multiple birthdays each month so I have a list for this purpose. Where there a multiple stones for each month & months also sharing stones, it can depend on where you live in the world (people choose differently across the globe) & stones also have different meanings. There are stones linked with the Zodiac which can also have stones overlap months. I think this is a great idea though especially as stones can share months etc plus having multiple stones per month can have the project create content for over twelve months if you did one a month.
I am new to your channel and I just love all these wonderful ideas. I haven’t gotten to see too many of your videos yet so I’m curious to see what else you work with besides resin. I love working with resin, but I also like working with polymer clay.
Daniel, I've sold jewelry for over 13 years and you've come so close to a real opal, the smaller ones are definitely the better ones but they've all captured the beauty of an opal.
I had shared with you previously that you can use transparency film instead of parchment paper. The transparency film will make the resin totally clear, so it depends on what look you are going for. ArtfulElements has a good video about it.
Yes, they are all stunning! I liked the black one because the colours became more vibrant with the darker background. The white ones I liked both because of their more ethereal shimmer and for the demonstration of how the depth played a part.
Beautiful! I didn't know how it would look with the sanding , but it's great. I like the black best. I actually have a black opal. You should see how that would work.
A bit of resin paper made with much less sparkly bits (so there is a lot of space between them), and cut slightly smaller than the base piece... fill the cabochon part way, then put in the small piece, fill the rest of the way and put on the base piece... sand as usual. Now you have 'floating' bits of glimmer in your opal. :) You are such a genius with ideas for resin!
Im obsessed with opal and aurora and these are just absolutely beautiful. I am definitely going to have to try this. How could i not. Thank you for sharing Daniel & I hope you are well ❤
I make some pretty cool faux black opals using the clear AB flecks along with blue, pink, yellow, and green AB flecks and a special Mica powder I have. They don't look exactly like black opals but, they're gorgeous all the same. I've been working on a white opal for a while but haven't had a whole lot of luck. The colored flecks bleed onto my white so using just the clear makes sense
Daniel, if you use your lamp upside-down use some tinfoil to make a roof to sit over the top. It would mimic the reflective metal base of a nail lamp... helps to bounce the UV rays around inside the lamp.👍🏼
OMG Daniel I am speechless... you really are a true geniues...have never seen anything like this before...You are a Resin God...lots of love from India... Stay Blessed 😊
Oh my! An "Opal" coaster...!? Holy Rockhound, that would be FABULOUS! 💕😍❤ WHOA! The white "opals" are AMAZING, Dan! 😲😍❤👍 They're definitely my favorite. I think that reflective effect is called "chatoyancy"? It's absolutely *STUNNING!* Crazy how different lighting brings out various colors and effects. Hey, to make the black look even more like an opal (maybe?), use black (but not opaque!) 2-part epoxy. See how that looks with just a plain, unpainted resin sheet.
Try some epoxy with a tint of white in the resin. Like as if you put a few drops of milk into water. Get a vaccum chamber for the resin and/or put the assembled piece in a pressure pot to cure. Should get rid of all the bubbles you don't want. The milky resin brings out the opalesque look even more and hides some imperfections that are maybe still there and you probably don't need to treat the "reflective paper" with paint first. Dip it into UV resin to give it a polished finish at the end.
Oh my!!! SPECTACULAR. Now to find the glitter. Another happy dance I would love to see the big one as a choker, imagine the color bouncing off the throat 😮
I have been doing opal coasters for a few years now, it’s popular on my Etsy store. I use the same glitter flakes but I use a translucent white to give that white opal cloudy effect.
I Google image searched it, first result was a 1.0 cts Natural Fire Opal! 🥰💞🙌🏻 Fantastic i LOVE THESE!! Definitely going to give it a go 🙌🏻 thanks bloody legend
Dan, you never cease to amaze me! Your eye for color and refraction is always spot on. I can’t wait to try this and the new mold from Little Windows is so cool. Thanks as always for what you share and teach us along the way! 😊❤
I have just found your channel. So happy I did. When you are about to put your papers into the mold, pop them into your dip first. Let it run off as normal. This should cut down on your problem with bubbles.
@@daniel..cooper i have plenty of wire, just need to make my own cabs so i have a lower price point of jewelry to go with my expensive gemstone cabs lol
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! my first attempt at making an opal with resin.. i didnt know anything about these types of products that can be used.. I took a perlemoen (abalone) shell , and crushed it to a fine powder with a few bigger chucks in.. and set it in some resin , in a an empty pill cartridge as a mold.. gave it a good sanding and polish after..and it came out beautifully.. but i want to love to try ur ,method..
I have those molds! I have a few of her molds. Absolutely some of my favorite ones. I splurged because I don't do this as a business but will sell my pieces but mostly give e as gifts.. Love your videos! Keep it up
Hello Daniel, Do you know about Opal Doublets? This is basically sliced opal adhered to black semi-precious stock as a backing. In my jewellery trade days these were quite common as doublets kept the overall costs down. If you can find examples on the Internet it may start you creative juices running for a crafting approach as well as the method used in this video. The results of this video really are stunning. Bryan
Very Nice!! At first I was more interested in the black ones, now I like them equally! Unfortunately we've got a puppy in the house, and being the one who isn't working (retired) I get to be puppy herder. Hard to get up to the craft room when I got a teething fur ball to take care of.
These are absoluely glorious, Prof! The white-backed prototypes are my favourites too. 🤍 [Fran's products are simply wonderful, and so well made - I hope to place an order with her soon]
I love opal and follow an opal cutter on RUclips. This really is the closest to opal I've seen in a resin design. It's phenomenal how your ideas and experiments just get more and more extraordinary.
As someone who mines/has opals from all over the world I must say you have done a very good job! I am curious though to see what it would look like if you'd push a bit of the color flakes deeper into the resin, so the color has some depth. You've managed to get the colors down almost perfectly though!
Wow! Daniel it's good to see you well, you're such a natural teacher.👍 You inspired me to make the resin sheet I tried it with epoxy resin using mica powder and gold flakes it turned out pretty decent. I used a mould and parchment paper so I had a mat and a shiny surface. I made some keychains in mould by cutting it to size and topped it with UV resin so I didn't any issue with the bubbles.
GORGEOUS. opal os my absolute favorite and im very picky about synthetics, this is incredible for not being some fancy lab setup. also, perfect for october!! its this months birthstone :)
Thanks so much 😁 Oooh, I didn't even know that! Happy fluke! 😂

This comment makes.me.want to try this and get it right. So this is what an oral really looks like
Wow, thanks so much 🥰🥰
Thanks for the inspiration! I'm so obsessed that my dinner is ready and I'm trying to cut up a mylar balloon with my sewing shears.
My favorite is the white opal. Beautiful. Bright and very colorful. Great job!
I had shared with you previously that you can use transparency film instead of parchment paper. The transparency film will make the resin totally clear, so it depends on what look you are going for. ArtfulElements has a good video about it.
Thanks 😊 Yes, totally depends on what you want, with something like this, it wouldn't matter 🥰
I love that it's matte
They are incredible, but I prefer them before you sanded them down, the colours are clearer 😍
I think the white is my favourite but both look beautiful ❤
I’ve never done resin work. I’ve watched this video 10 times. I’m going to try it. Thank you.
He has turned something that was unattainable with my limited skills into "easy peasy!!! lol
Daniel these are so beautiful but I really loved the before you sanded them beautifully done 😍
Very pretty Dan, reminds me of the opal my mum brought back from Oz, many moons ago
Thanks Bonny 😁 😊 🫂
I'm glad to see that you have bought the Little Windows molds...
Yes, they are all stunning! I liked the black one because the colours became more vibrant with the darker background. The white ones I liked both because of their more ethereal shimmer and for the demonstration of how the depth played a part.
Amazing, gorgeous, wow. You are so talented Daniel. I’m bursting with inspiration. Thank you 🇦🇺❤❤❤
I just can’t get over how brilliant you are . Thank you so much for sharing Daniel .
Opal is one of my favorite stones, those are so realistic looking! love the white backing.
SUPER! Thanks!!! Your videos are so much fun!!❤
Thanks so much for the Super Thanks 😊 🥰
Wow. It's stunning. If I wasn't so tired and dying of the heat I would be making these right now.
Love opals & rainbow moon stones ,so yes, gorgeous 😍
These are beautiful love them
Thanks so much Kim 😊
Stunning Daniel. I prefer the white to the black but have to say that flash of red on the black was beautiful!
You might want to try coating the big one with epoxy first, then pour in the flakes mixed with resin. ❤❤
Beautiful! I didn't know how it would look with the sanding , but it's great. I like the black best. I actually have a black opal. You should see how that would work.
Fantastic Daniel! I think I prefer the white one over the black one
Love the opals! You make it look easy Daniel! 21:02

Loved both the black and the white. 😊
ive made these ina similar way before, i find that making the resin abit milky by adding a small dash of white pigment to the resin helps alot!
I’d like to experiment either adding a tiny bit of color to the resin. These are gorgeous, but one is always pursuing something more.
Afreakinmazing Sir!
Dan, Dan you are the man. Amazing effects. Thank you for sharing x
My pleasure! Thank you 😊 🙏
I finally ordered the beast! I can't wait to play with it! So many ideas. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hope you enjoy it! 🤩🤩🤩
Love these but prefer the white. Absolutely stunning xxx
Absolutely fantastic & fabulous. Beautiful & gorgeous! I don't know what else to say besides you've done it again!❤❤❤❤❤
Gorgeous and wow what a great way to create stunning opals!
Love the white background

Thank you 😊 Yes, I tried after, I tinted the resin black but it was reducing the refraction 🥺

I would love to see the big one as a choker, imagine the color bouncing off the throat 😮
Hey Daniel! These look amazing, not a fan of the black, but the white? What a triumph! x

Very nice Daniel, looks very much like opals. I have several pieces of real opals jewelry. I love this resin paper. ❤🧡💛🍂🍁
So lovely ! I wonder what the large one would look like with the bubbles over it lol I might have a play round later and find out
i love using mylar to make "opals" they look great
Its the very first thing i though you were after black opel is the best comparison
As someone who's engagement ring is an Opal centerpiece, these are lovely. 💜🥰
Very pretty Daniel, I think I prefer the black before it’s sanded and the white after
Oh wow, you have outdone yourself here Daniel. There are no words to express how stunning these are. You make it seem so easy. Thank you
Didn't even know you could get black opals ,dah. I would've used white from the start. Thank you for your time
Absolutely gorgeous! You are a genius, Daniel! I'm going to make some resin paper tomorrow! Wish me luck! 😂
I have those new molds from Little Windows and I love them

Fabulous, as usual, thanks Daniel. Housework and gardening will have to wait until I've tried this out🤭🤫🥰
I really need to get some more uv resin and epoxy resin and start making my own cabs to wrap.
I definitely need more wire 🙈😂
@@daniel..cooper i have plenty of wire, just need to make my own cabs so i have a lower price point of jewelry to go with my expensive gemstone cabs lol
They turned out great and love the new cabachon molds 😊
