Paul almost single handedly made me believe I can practise material like this one day. His work on the Op 10 No 2 tutorial made me start my chromatic scale practise on weaker fingers and I can now play the etude from start to finish on about half the recommended tempo. I have a long way to go, and as someone who mostly plays pieces with an average difficulty of 5-6 (on a 1-10 scale) Chopin's etudes are still mostly beyond me but I do appreciate them even in their simpler forms as a practise and warm up for one hand for example.

You sound like myself. As someone who was much better in the past than I am now, I might have been able to work on this at some point. After seeing your comment and watching this video, maybe I still can.

@@grahamkey8496 I can only speak for myself of course but I found a more basic school curriculum approach to practising better for me mentally than the less structured regime I had before. Meaning that I started practising mostly three pieces at once, first is something very simple and easily obtainable, the second is approximately on my own level and then lastly something like this etude, a long term project of something hard which I don't expect great results from for months or years to come. For me the frustration lessened immensely when I started to treat myself more kindly and expect less. I have a bad tendency to rush everything and expect instant results. Nearing closer to whatever that threshold of an advanced playing level is has made me flip my attitude about practising almost completely and it didn't really happen to me knowingly. As I grew more patient I started taking things slower and thinking even the etudes in more simpler, easily digestible chunks. I wanted to learn only the bare idea first, like chromatic scales and ignore everything else and then slowly build upon that. That made practising a piece like this feel like just another warm up.
You having already known that level of skill might know more of how that feels.
Anywho, best of luck and I hope you'll keep striving to become better.

This piece makes a ton of sense physically. Difficulty is really subjective, the Chopin's etudes are all too difficult for everyone until you start working through them. Your first few take months and months, from there it does get easier and you can play more and more of Chopin if you work through them. Learn 25/11, 25/6, 10/1, and 25/10 and you're guaranteed ready for basically any Chopin piece aside from maybe third sonata and cello sonata.

Amazing watching the hands working independently as if multitasking. Such talent.
Some people can't even rub their tummy while patting their head.
I'd love to be able to play piano this way.

Great performance! My score is marked "vivace" which would be maximum 176 bmp for an eighth note. Where does the 105 quarter note tempo come from? I've seen quarter 116 and 120 also offered up as the correct tempo. Very confused.

Thanks for watching! You can find the performance with 116 tempo here: ruclips.net/video/qPmAPKs6rz0/видео.html

@@PaulBartonPiano Yes, but why? A 116 tempo is only allegro moderato, not vivace. What is the correct tempo? It's a nice performance but seems faster than the composer intended. A 116 would be 232 eights per minute vs 176 for vivace.
