    if you save all his kids, you can either side with him(my first ending), and he sends the transports protected and you can choose either to stay or go back to Arizona. I chose to go back to Arizona, you get decorated by the general and you are know as heroes, Kwon, Lucia and Jodie came with, Scotchmo leaves in search for bars or something. Kwon is your liason with the rangers, Lucia with the Hundred Families, Jodie and her folks live happily ever after. Unfortunately I had to kill Angela because I was 9 in kiss ass and the Patriarch didn't want her banished, it was the saddest part, killing her. The general also decorates her as a hero, but they know she was a traitor and they never talk about her again after. The Patriarch tries to reconnect to Liberty, while he keeps a close eye on her, but he never names a successor, and after he will die, colorado will have to fend for itself... and we would probably need to find new suppliers. In the meanwhile, supplies are coming, some get raided, but they are always enough.
    I'm ok with this ending, it being my first, I liked it a lot, it's bitter sweet!

      Having 2 NVME drives in Raid 0 helps with that a lot.

    • @n00blamer
      @n00blamer 4 года назад +3

      @@juniperburton7693 The hardware wasn't the bottleneck; I have Force Series Gen.4 PCIe MP600 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD (4,950MB/s sequential reads) and CPU was 4.5 GHz 10-core i9. What I witnessed when the game was loading was that it took very little CPU and I/O from the disk was really low.. the CPU utilization was less than 10% on one core, other cores were basically idling. What this tells me is that there is a software architectural problem; the code is sleeping on a lock somewhere.
      Modern hardware require pipelined software architecture; ONE thread should be doing I/O, hammering the storage device - but just ONE thread, so that the threads won't fight over the same resource. As the data becomes available it should be processed simultaneously on other thread(s). If the data arrives too quickly, say, on my case at nearly 5 GB/s it could fill up my 64 GB of RAM in 12 seconds flat. Loading the levels took more like 30-50 seconds, and the IO was closer to 40 MB/s.. so only 1% of the hardware I/O was utilized; it definitely wasn't the bottleneck there.
      The scenario where you load data as quickly as possible has to be throttled when the back-end cant keep up to avoid filling the RAM with temporary data. It depends, but having 100-200 MB reserved for in-flight data is fairly reasonable. OK, so don't let the pre-fetcher to go too fast. the only problem is when it is too slow, which means you have a hardware bottleneck. This clearly isn't case here.
      A lot of code is simple to write in linear fashion: first load a file, or open a file for parsing, process and parse it and finally you have data available. Let's say, an image file is opened and read. Then you create a texture, upload the data to the graphics processor and repeat from beginning. The problem with approach like this is that you're utilizing the hardware really poorly. While the image file is decoded the SSD/HDD isn't doing anything, and so forth.
      So you pipeline the asset loading; break it into logical stages and distribute them when it makes sense. Then, if you have a super-fast SSD like I do, it can load data super fast, so you might want to process multiple image files simultaneously and so on.
      Seeing 5% CPU utilization and 1% SSD utilization for 40 seconds can be transformed into seeing 100% CPU utilization for 2 seconds when the code is crafted in a way that it used the hardware.
      A famous computer scientist Donald Knuth is quited saying the "premature optimization is root of all evil" (he didn't say it but it's attributed to him), and that is what you are seeing at play here with the Wasteland 3 and Unity 3D engine. Once the bottleneck was serious enough that it caught consumers attention it caught the developers attention and they fixed it.
      In short: throwing more hardware at a software problem is not the solution. The solution was that the developers (inXile Entertainment) improved their code. Same hardware, at least 300% faster code.. the game would probably have loaded new areas for 30+ seconds even with 20 times faster CPU and SSD; the problem simply wasn't the hardware but how it was used.

    • @UnvisibleINK
      @UnvisibleINK 3 года назад +11

      The best ending in the game is the November Reigns ending and involves betraying the Patriarch. He's a despot, that's a bit deeper than a "shady past" and really it's his shady present and future that are equally as concerning as his past. How can you trust a man who raises twisted maniac kids and hires a special forces unit to do his parenting for him to raise a community? That's why you should never make promises in the first place, you should just tell people where you stand. Betraying your morals is way more spineless than breaking any foolishly made promises.

    • @aloptuleamagnificanton4983
      @aloptuleamagnificanton4983 3 года назад +5

      @@UnvisibleINK "Shady present and future" ?
      His on his last legs, the fuck are you talking about, "betraying your morals" morality is very subjective, so there are no morals that November had to abide by, besides taking care of their people in Arizona, honor is above morals in any case, November gets to rule Colorado after the Patriarch dies, and as a result the rangers now have 2 cities and can help eachother out whilst not being notorious for betraying their word.

    • @UnvisibleINK
      @UnvisibleINK 3 года назад +6

      @@aloptuleamagnificanton4983 I swear I already replied to this. Maybe youtube "vanished" my cmment. Anyway, yeah there is totally a Ranger specific morality. It comes up in many dialogue options and is point blank the reason Angela Deth abandoned her mission; because working with tyrants like Buchanan goes against the Ranger ideals.
      Buchanan's shady future is his legacy. I don't know if you noticed, but Colorado is a horrible place that nobody should want to live in. Also his children are such horrifying maniacs that Buchanan has to hire a special ops unit to run around and do his parenting for him. Dude's not fit to wipe his own butt. Speaking of wiping, Buchanan almost wiped out the entire Dorsey family because they were advocating for democracy and despite being close to death still hasn't prepared for any kind of general election so that the people can elect a leader to replace him. His most likely replacement is his crazy daughter Liberty. He's sown all those seeds, so regardless whether or not he dies, his negative impact on the future of Colorado is still relevant.
      Lastly you should really just look up the November Reigns ending. It's not in this video. It has the best possible outcomes for both Colorado and Arizona, and it also involves opposing the Patriarch. Not many people get this ending cause you have to get pretty much all the factions to love you but it's clearly the best ending. So yeah, check that ending out first and then get back to me and tell me if you still think the game is trying to preach that honoring a promise made in bad faith is preferable to taking a stand for the greater good.

      @@UnvisibleINK Ahhh.. here we go again...
      "The greater good" (on a side note it just sounds so socialistic), anyway I'm not the type of person who likes to makes friends with everyone, and I also find it rather unrealistic that the Rangers would bother to make themselves liked by everyone, the democracy thing, you can call me whatever you want but democracy has always been a system of deception and manipulation if you want proof of that just look at the US presidential elections, so yeah I am inclined to support a monarchy over a democracy, it just comes down to how you view the world I guess. Besides it's not as if others would start showing their weaknesses when their kids are actively fighting againts them to gain control of your city. Colorado might not be the best example of living standards, but considering the circumstances, I'd say the Patriarch managed to maintain relatively safe that one corner of the world. You could totally go for the good ol'fellas ending and be friends with everyone, the thing that ain't a realistic perspective on things, you would never be able to become friends with everyone, and even if you did you would leave yourself opened for backstabbers that will take advantage of your kindness.

    • @UnvisibleINK
      @UnvisibleINK 3 года назад +4

      @@aloptuleamagnificanton4983 You're getting way off topic. The point is that the game isn't pushing a "be a man of your word" narrative like you said it was, and that Buchanan is an incompetent buffoon, regardless of how things turn out in the game for Colorado or Arizona. Whatever you think about democracy or whether you would have experienced such and such in your playthrough is irrelevant.
      Personally, I've never gotten the November Reigns ending either, I just know about it through discussion and know that it is the best ending in terms of outcome for everyone. So whether you address this or not, that means that if the game is pushing a narrative, that narrative is "you can change things for the better but only if you're diplomatic and friendly to everyone, and kind of two faced and a bit of a politician." Whether you agree with that or not, it's the playthrough that gets the best ending.
      I don't like to be too diplomatic or wishy washy when I play RPGs. I either try to push the game towards my own moral compass to see how the game reacts or I investigate the game's lore to see if there are any in game "philosophies" that align with my own and I play that game that way. This usually causes enemies to made in most RPGs, but also makes them more interesting. But that's also why I think the endings are arbitrary and irrelevant to some extent, because what makes sense in the context of playing the game isn't always recognised in the game code when doling out the ending. For example killing the Gippers somehow makes the oil inaccessible. Why? Is everyone too lazy/incompetent to go to now completely abandoned oil facilities and get all the free oil? And no, I don't advocate wiping out entire tribes of people just because they're nuts/republicans, but it is something that I know happens in the game.
      Now I'm getting off topic. Point is that the game isn't advocating "promise culture" like you said or telling the player not to rock the boat. Also the game doesn't particularly encourage the player to make nearly as many excuses for Buchanan as you do. Most NPCs either hate him or distrust him, even Kwon, Daisy and Greatski have their doubts about him which is why they help overthrow him in the ending I've been talking about this whole time.
      I'll say it one more time. I don't know if you've noticed, but Colorado is horrible. The least insane locations are the Bizarre and the Machine Commune. I'm even pretty sure he designers knew that most sensible players would want to overthrow the Patriarch which is why they made it difficult to do successfully, but also made it the best ending in the game.

Once I beat Angela I had a choice to kill Patriarch or not, but what's funny about all of this is that I wanted to side with Angela. I killed 2 out of the 3 children from Patriarch and I guess this was the result? I guess I wasn't really on anybody's side since I neither saved all 3 kids or killed all 3 kids, but than why was Angela my enemy and why were Patriarch's army my allies at the final battle? My ending made no sense at all but it was an awesome game, one of my favorites.

      There are several occasions in the game when Angela contacts you and if you didn't do what she said (kill the Patriarch's kids, free Cordite, KEEP Cordite with you, and few other I forgot) she will ask you why, and you have several possibilities to answer, something like "You made us look bad in front of the Patriarch" or " It isn't our mission" or even other random answers. I guess basically the game is trying to understand your point of view, if you are doing it for her and the Colorado people, for the Patriarch, or maybe you aren't sure because you are just following Arizona Rangers orders ? At some point if you have chosen conflicting answer and did not clearly took a side then you probably get your ending. To be honest for me it was very frustrating, because the Patriarch wasn't a good leader but he wasn't evil (not like his daughter and son), so I was ready for Angela to talk and convince me, but she basically say nothing, except that he is a Tyrant. But the crazy part is she didn't even mention who would replace him, and how, which alliance and how that would help Colorado and Arizona, nothing. I liked Angie very much from the OG so I gave her the benefice of the doubt, most of the game I followed what she said but not 100% (Agreed to free Cordite but refuse to ally with a slaver, got himself killed by Liberty at the end, she impaled him on a stick lol, also I agreed to take down Liberty and her gangs because they are dangerous but I said to Angela that I wasn't sure her strategy would help Colorado)
      At the very end I accepted to side with her but i facepalmed when they said "everyone heard you on the radio and killed each other in the Rangers HQ" like WTF, who even talk about that on open channels lol

      I killed Vic and Liberty, and the only to get the supplies were to hold Valor hostage using Hard Ass or maybe Barter (mine wasn’t high enough to try) and you leave with very bad term with the patriarch.

      I ask cause i dont trust the Patriarch or his kids at all but I dont think Angela cares about the people of Colorado like she says, she’s just trying to exploit the situation for the benefits of the rangers and Arizona. I wanted to work towards a peaceful transition of power, or a more peaceful coup for a better leader to benefit both Arizona and Colorado but i think i fucked things up lol, i rushed into a few situations too fast.

      Best ending involves siding with Angela, it's just tricky to unlock, but also just because you saw people bail in this video doesn't mean they will in your playthrough. If you help Lucia track down her father and confront him after either killing or arresting Liberty she learns that he massacred the Dorsey family a while back and blames him and the Patriarch for her mother and brother's death. In my game she was so jaded she stuck around to take Buchanan down. Only Jodie and Kwon bailed but they weren't in my active party by then anyway.
      But yeah, anyway this video is lying when it says "all endings".

      @@UnvisibleINK That's weird, in my playthough I did Lucia's quest arresting her father and when I sided with Angela, she attacked my other characters and got shot down by Angela. Maybe because I made her kill her ex boyfriend instead of arresting him?

    • @UnvisibleINK
      @UnvisibleINK 3 года назад

      @@dificulttocure Maybe, there's a few things you gotta do to get the November Reigns ending. To get Lucia to wanna take down Buchanan you have to complete the Dorsey missions so that the leader (I think Nelius, but I could be getting the names mixed up) tells you how the Dorseys entered into the feud with Buchanan (Lucia's father is implicated in the story), then you have to rescue her father from Liberty and ask him about what Dorsey told you. Pretty sure if you do both of those things Lucia agrees to help take down Buchanan even if you don't get the green light from the Marshals.
      If you can get a loved reputation from the Marshals, and the hundred families and speak to sheriff Daisy about taking down Buchanan then you get the green light to take him down with the help of his own army, on account of all the war crimes and tyranny and stuff.
      It's not that hard to do, there's just a few key missions you have to complete and you don't have to screw over the refugees that much. You do have to arrest Mama Cotter but she won't stay mad at you forever. As long as you avoid doing things that upset Sheriff Daisy then you can get the November Reigns ending and achievement pretty easily.
