Wasn't the engine that changed it like I thought it would. Was the bespoke Supashock suspension setup and super sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres (first road car in the world to have them fitted as standard, was only available as an option on the McLaren P1 at the time).

      Were not selling enough cars, small market in Australia , trying to compete with imports with no import tarrifs on them thanks to the labor governments of the late 80s early 90s removing import taxes on imports.
      And of course Holden and Ford Australia building big petrol eating cars and not focusing on more economic vehicles

      Not really mate as it's near completely built on Holden's assembly line in Adelaide and sent to HSV in Melbourne to have the wheels, catch can and carbon fibre intake, supashock suspension and badges fitted.

      Body was made in Australia. Holden is a subsitary of GM - General motors. GM put LS engines in holdens , in australia from 1998 onwards .
      Hence why its Australian made

    OMG just imaging how hard the suspension is, John Bowe is bouncing around in that seat, yet its just a normal road conditions which we all drive on? To think that a 800K car now days if you want to buy 1 is so uncomfortable, IMHO, yet think of what you can buy with 300K which has more power and more options and faster as well & a lot more comfortable as well ,like AMG Audi or BMW?

    • @geoffreytazprice5091
      @geoffreytazprice5091 2 года назад

      Reason its stiff is it has Supashock racing suspension just like all V8 Supercars now use instead of the Gen 3 magnetic ride control shocks in standard GTSR's and all GTS's since 2013 which has tour, sports and track settings. Also there's only 275 of these in Australia and 25 in NZ. Where as the number of AMG E63s and BMW M5 built a year is about 25000-30000

    Came for performance data proof - just got a lot of opinion/superlatives and hollow statements. Yes it’s an excellent car that looks good, sounds good and makes you feel good. Now if you’re the sensitive type stop reading now………Before we get all emotionally teary eyed about these cars - for comparison sake - don’t expect to gap a stock, untuned, Mk8 Golf R on the street from the🚦 These WERE muscle cars, now they are just very very expensive garage queens that have been overtaken by technology and are easily beaten by German hatchbacks. That’s why you’ll never see a GTSR or W1 (or GTS LSA) owner use a Dragy.

    • @MrTroytroy
      @MrTroytroy 3 года назад +1

      @@supraJZA80s I’m not saying a golf is exciting. It’s just faster that’s all. Just a couple of common bolt ons and a tune and it will be running 11’s on the street while the HSV will be wheel spinning it’s way to a solid 12 on the street. They don’t come into their own until 200km/h. Pretty much all S/C V8 cars on street tyres are 12sec cars. Dyno sheets are last decade stuff. Dragy times are what matters. LSA HSV’s are too heavy, have compromised traction, shit gearing and if manual, appalling acceleration compared to DCT or Auto cars. They were great cars for their time.
