For your bathroom plants, I probably wouldn’t go with succulents because they like dry environments with full sun, and a bathroom doesn’t meet either of those requirements. I work at a plant nursery and people always ask me what plants would do well in bathrooms and a lot of plants love bathrooms actually. Since your bathroom doesn’t have a window in the plants are relying on the light coming in from the other windows in your apartment, I would do a plant that can tolerate low light. And there are tons of plants that love low light and humidity because these plants are found essentially on what is on rainforest ground and tropical locations. You could try different varieties of Chinese evergreen, pothos, fern (ferns LOVE humidity), or a snake plant. If you Google or Pinterest bathroom plants you’ll get a good idea but you want to go with something low light that isn’t a cactus or succulent because they aren’t going to do well.

It’s so funny to me what Americans consider small 😅 in Germany that would be an apartment for two people. Right now I live on 290sqft and before that my apartment only had 247sqft.
@@KiaraMadisen it’s basically just one room with a double bed, dresser, clothing rack, desk, bookshelf, and a small couch. I think the hallway and the kitchen are both about 22 sqft, the kitchen has a sink, a small fridge and two hot plates. I have a bathtub in my bathroom which is kinda rare and my personal highlight 😅 And what makes a 530sqft apartment for two people (who are roommates) is that the kitchen is most often separate from the living room. Beautiful space. 💖 For a small footprint you have a a lot of storage. I am working with an organizer who keeps suggesting ways of storing more stuff. I have to keep reminding her I don't need more storage I need less stuff! Found when I am decluttering with her it is much easier to make decisions on keep/donate/sell. She has knowledge on what local thrift places take what items. For example no one takes bedding or towels regardless of condition. But the local animal shelter does! Who knew? It makes me happy to think that my childhood bedding will now be snuggling a doggo or cat.
Awesome job organizing and apartment. Love your personality. So positive and down to earth. Maybe hanging pots and pans on a door close to the e kitchen may help. Me living in my 18m² apartment : This is not a small space.. (18m² = ~194sq foot according to Google) You have a really nice place btw :) Really bright and cosy.
Beautifully decorated and the storage solutions make sense! I can also tell that you love your space which is so key 🔑 I live in a 500 sq ft and here for inspo!
Kiara, I hope you still live in your apartment. It looks lovely with the clean lines of white walls, white furniture and nutrial items thru out. I presently live in my mom's house. She passed away in July. At the end of the month I am moving to the smallest apartment I have ever had and in a few years the building is going to be condos to buy. I am hoping to buy an end unit if possible. Before I moved in with my mom I lived an a 1120 SQ FT apartment with a balcony the length of the living room thru the dining area and floor to ceiling glass panes of glass in the same length of the balcony. Now the last day of February 2022 I am moving to a 562 SQ FT apartment. It is in a building built in 1947 for the WWII soldiers returning to the states. Some units have washer and dryer but mine dies not. All the utilities are included accept for electric. I get 2 free spots with my lease. I am in the top floor and will only have one neighbor to my right. I have my own stair way up with my own little landing. When I go to sign the papers and get the key I want to ask if I could out a little bench and plant outside my door. The hardwood floors were stripped and re polyurethaned, new kitchen, new bathroom. My tent will be $1372 plus electric. It's area is known as Westover Village and there are many old homes built in the 20s. It is a town that was the first in Arlington County about 10 min to Washington, DC. A block away is the little village with an Italian Store that I think you would love. Great wines. Eat in it outside great food. Tobys Homemade ice cream is there. About 5 little restaurants nice size but in narrow long buildings. Lost Dog Cafe was the first restaurants and now they have opened Stray Cat. Most of their proceeds goes to animal shelters family owned restaurants. There is a great Lebanese restaurant and a Thai restaurant. Trade Roots has very cool plant holders yiu would love and as of this summer they now have a cafe inside. At night all the trees are kit up thru town. There is Ayers Variety Store and Hardware. Family owned. Outside of your windows your town looks quaint too. I would love to sit in your living room having a cup of coffee on a cold winter day . Even with a brand new kitchen I cannot think of where to put lots and pans, my heavy LeCruset. It is a pain to out everything in the oven and have to haul it all out if you want to bake. I may look for a nice bookcase to out against one room and out them in there. Get a nice piece of fabric with a spring rod to out in front of the bookcase. My cabinets are pretty high too. I see that you have the Dollar Tree dish cloth hanger on the door under your sink. I gave yet to find them. Before I close, if you keep seran wrap inside your refrigerator it is less clingy when you want to use it. I have hit to subscribe. I love the Portland area. My boyfriend's step sister lives on a sound off Portland and she pays $320 for a one bedroom house. I cannot imagine it being so cheap. I want to see now if I can find your Christmas house tour they are my favorite. Have a good day and week, Rebekah from Arlington, VA
Nice to see what you did with your apartment. I am also in Portland and have a studio which is plenty for me and I love how I've decorated it, feels like home. Thanks for your video!
Hi Kiara! AWESOME apartment, decor, layout, etc. Curious...how tall is your dresser you're using for the TV console? I'm thinking of doing something similar (maybe with the West Elm 6 drawer just like your bar dresser, just wider) to utilize more storage in the living room and I was wondering how you liked the TV up that high. Thoughts?
Your apartment feels so light and airy, but still cozy. I like it! Idon't live in Portland, but I'm in Oregon and I've been thinking about visiting The Lounge Lizard. That piece you showed definitely convinced me to go up and check it out soon.
I used to live in an apartment this size and then my fiancé and I bought a home (about 1,900 sqft) and I really don’t like how big the house is. It didn’t feel big when we looked at it but after moving all our stuff in its way too much home. Can’t wait to downsize in the future maybe to about 1,500 sqft.

I love everything you did with the apartment! So cozy and minimal and modern 😍. You really did a great job utilizing all the space in your apartment! It may not be big but you really made it work ☺️
Thanks Kathleen!
Cute place. Love the print in the bathroom, it's in my basket! And the cat clock... : ) Just saw the lamp your dad made! That's so nice....

Kiara,
I hope you still live in your apartment.
Have a good day and week,
Rebekah from Arlington, VA
I can’t wait!!! My favorite place to shop for home furnishings is either Target or a place called at home!
I love the At Home store!
I've never been to At Home but now I am dying to go!
Nice to see what you did with your apartment. I am also in Portland and have a studio which is plenty for me and I love how I've decorated it, feels like home. Thanks for your video!
That’s awesome! That are some great studio options in Portland 👍
Thank you for the invitation and showing around. IT WAS GREAT, have everything you need add that is the main thing.
Alicia thank you! It’s a super fun shop and the whole area on Hawthorne is amazing!
This apartaments looks so nice and It's very organized! I love this so much!
Thank you so much!!
Wow I really love the set up. About to move in my apartment that's the same size and might steal some ideas. As a guy I love the unisex look. Looks like a perfect location. Seems like u don't have to walk far to shop. Love it.
lol when katie said you couldnt name the basil plant- LOL soo funny
Katie just needs to think of it as giving the basil plant a haircut 🤣
YES 👏 I'm going to tell katie this lol
🏡 Yours is one of my favs - styled, well laid out, not fussy or unliveable. Well done!
Surprisingly, this is actually a big apartment for Portland, too
I just moved into a 512 sqft 1-bed in Portland and your place is GOALS. I love IKEA and Home Goods!
How did you hand the plants from the ceiling in your bedroom ? Love it so much
My dad helped me use these fancy hooks! If you go to my room tour vid I linked them in the description box :)
This is such a great space. Love all your decor.
