Walking tour of Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights, Queens, New York City.
Roosevelt Avenue is the primary street in the varied, middle-class community of Jackson Heights in Queens, NY, runs directly beneath the tracks of the 7 train. Roosevelt Ave is know for its stores, illegal massage parlors, restaurants and migrant street vendors. There you can find everything from clothing, food, jewelry, and even sex. Whatever you are looking for, I'm sure you can find it there.
Multicultural Jackson Heights in Queens is home to Little India, a South Asian micro-neighborhood centered around a stretch of 74th Street. Indian restaurants serve traditional curries, while sari and Bollywood music shops offer up a slice of the subcontinent. Tibetan, Nepalese, and Latin American restaurants expand the culinary choices. Every summer, the district hosts the annual Queens Pride Parade and Festival. ― Google

That looks more like somewhere in South America!
So?
@@michaelkucinski4021 So it looks like somewhere in South America!
@@CarlosCruz-ll5ez Well, what's wrong with that? It looks South American probably because there are a lot of South Americans there. They're not hurting or bothering anybody. It's not a bad neighborhood. It's probably one of the safest places to be in NYC. I wish all the nice people there luck! If you or someone else doesn't like it there, don't go there.
honestly it looks like the red light districts of South America where escopolamina is the favorite drug of the prostitutes to knock out your ass and leave you bone dried 💲

I was Born in the Bronx New York City
I went to consumer affairs to get licensed to operate a hot dog cart and I was told there’s a waiting list with a million names on it how is it possible all these people are licensed street vendors some can’t communicate in English.
I don’t think the majority have licenses.
Well, learn Spanish and head to Queens. Perro caliente!
They are not licensed
I'm also from the Bronx, it's not what you know it's who you know!! has been like that for years
Para vender en Queens no necesitas hablar inglés y es más, vos no calificarias en esta zona por el idioma, barrio realmente latino, donde se habla español.....
I work in this neighborhood. It’s a straight up jungle and I’m viewed as the outsider even though I’m born in the United States.
Lies. Probably a robot.
I am far from lying. You don’t work here so you wouldn’t understand
Wow just wow. What a difference 30 years ago .
That outdoor dining 9:00 is crazy 😂
right under the train is crazy
It seems ok. A lot of places have tables on the sidewalk, often in touristy places like Manhattan's Little Italy. Some Brooklyn restaurants have outdoor dining in the courtyards during the summer. When I was in Jackson Heights during the 80s, I often ate an empanada or a slice of pizza while I walked down the street in the summer. Many times during the winter, I liked to drink a coffee or a hot chocolate on the go.
I’ll be embarrassed to eat there
@@mermaidlu5125 Why? What's wrong with eating outside?

I lived in NY for about 15 years in the Corona Queens area. Dominicans dominated most of the supermarket business. Nowadays, it's more Mexicans, which I am okay with. My wife is Mexican. But how things change with time.
How did Mexicans get New York? CraY
Got it wrong
Mexicans dont like new york mexicans who live in new york are the rich ones that come in wjth money
New york is more home to ecuadorians peruvians and colombians and of couse DR and PR

Didn't expect the girls to be there, lol? I thought they all disappeared after the crackdown a month ago?

I see people trying to make a living! Legally and illegally. How else will they support themselves and their families! It may not look posh to many but it’s better than stealing, mugging and violence. I work with the same population in the Bronx and I respect their work ethics and drive to better themselves. We work around their schedule in the clinic because if they don’t work they don’t put food on the table! Just my 2 cents!
We really need to turn New York red. We need politicians to Clean Our St., New York looks like a Third World country.
I would have never guessed that this will be happening here in New York. It’s a disaster.
The new 42nd street.This is AOC’s district.
How? You guys have to put up viable candidates and not like the last two clowns that ran for mayor.
Surely you are immigrant or have non-native roots, but as always, they deny their own past and where they come from...

How the hell are they getting away with prostitution and vending on public streets. Wheres AOC that POS

And as if italy was ruined by the US for you to come to new york in the first place... They came "illegally" only after you ruined all of their countries and brought poverty and crime to their homes. The only reason why you arent illegal was because back then the only rule to enter the us was be a european. as if those standards werent racist inspired and only benefited yourselves. hypocrites you didnt come here with any skilled labor. italy didnt even make anything unique in history, since most of it is copied by greece
Oh no queens what happened to queens??
Thank you biden 😂 now this is like venezuela
It's actually looked that way since the late 80's as far as I remember minus the street girls 'cause back then it was done more discreetly. Area has always been a red light district.
Exactly. I've been to Caracas, and the streets around the subway stations look just like this.
@@RF_NY1. The area was mostly Italian Polish and German up until the early 80s.
@@chriszenko3598 Yup, same as some areas in the Bronx like the westchester square area. The late 80's and 90's saw some people from latin america come in, particularly colombians and some argentinians.
Too many Venezolanos
Love the comments of suburbanites whose ideal street is where the only people they see is a white guy walking his dog every half hour. 95% of this is a very average city street, was here last week for great Indian food.
This is similar to 20th century New York, when Italian immigrants were itinerant, along with other Europeans arriving in the United States.
Not the same. I didn’t hear a single word of English in this video. These newcomers don’t even bother cause there are so many of them they don’t need to

Yo, I live around here. It was always a struggling community. I understand that many people in that area don’t like the prostitution that’s going on there me being one of them. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately these sex workers which I used to look down upon revived the community in a business sense. I understand the negative outlook on prostitution but if we legalize it, we can most likely take all the negative things that comes with it sex trafficking, gang, violence, etc., etc., out of the equation. When I was younger, they were never been so many businesses in the area street food, more leases of legitimate businesses. Yes they complain but it’s not the whole picture. Economic wise a lot of people are eating and making money. government/conservative thinking people are not helping our community. We have to find another way unfortunately and it looks like this is the best we can do. I’m so sorry. I’m offending or triggering your cultural views on what life should be but if we are not getting any help, we have to find our own way🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
