- A quick video that shows how easy it is to change the battery in a JBL Xtreme 2 bluetooth speaker. Much easier than a JBL Xtreme 1.

Xtreme 2 got Li-ion batteries (no issues)
Xtreme 1 got Li-po batteries (fukin 100% issues)
I got my new xtreme 2 yesterday and the battery wont charge past the first dot

How hard is it to replace the battery for a beginner? I'm scared of damaging something.
Compared to other models, this one is pretty easy. With the right screw driver you should be able to do this.
Where did you buy your plastic/opening tool from, I've bought a few online but they only end up being cheap & nasty ones, that one you're using looks like a good quality opener, thanks, btw great videos, really liked the JBL BOOMBOX reassemble video.👍👍👍

Wow, how quick access to battery is. Replacement is quicker than Xtreme 1 :).
This a great video and convinces me that the the Extreme 2 is better to get based on the simplicity of battery change alone.
I'm tired of these expensive products that turn out to be disposable when the company goes bankrupt in a few years or brings out a newer version so they no longer support a model, so before I spend my £100s, please may you confirm the following:
1. You say you can try eBay and Amazon for the battery but a Google search comes up with nothing when searching the pictured details SWD1809003295HM or SUN-INTE-103. I searched the specs of the battery and it seems to be a rare / custom made battery that can be ordered from Alibaba or simlilar for a minimum of 1000 units. I would love it if you could show us where to order a single battery from please. Otherwise we're spending a fortune on something that will quickly become redundant.
2. You say that the unit is still waterproof after the teardown. Please can you confirm this is definitely the case from your own experience? That you've dipped your unit into 1m water for up to 30 minutes after your teardown and it still works perfectly?

User 1 the battery used is based on standard 18650 li-ion batteries, i made a video how to make such battery pack for the Xtreme 1. If not you, a repair shop for electronic devices will be able to fix such battery. The batteries used in this speaker are good quality batteries, and they will last a long time. As for the performance under water, this is not a submarine. It is not meant to be used under water. If it falls into the water, it should survive, because it floats, and if it sits in rain it’s going to survive that.

I just used a flat head screwdriver to open the grill clips but damn is that speaker a b***h to put the grill back on... you need extreme patience 😂

My Xtreme 2 doesn’t even light up when I plug it in. Could this be battery related?
Brandon Funk hard to say, could be the charger too.
It’s just a loose Connection with the cable inside your speaker that’s not fully connected to the motherboard, that displays the lights, i had the same issue when experimenting with my BoomBox, & it’s as simple as Disassembling your speaker to get access to the motherboard to fix the cable and make certain the cable is in straight, “Not crooked” straight, Boom! “Problem solved” thank me later 🤪
@@hzd1494 do you maybe have a source or website? My Xtreme 2 was working fine yesterday, and now suddenly it does not charge. The speaker is pretty new so the battery must be fine, i also tried different chargers.

I have two that stopped charging at the same time. Both had power for another week but will not charge using either of the two cables that they came with,brand new directly from JBL...since they continued to work without accepting a charge, do you think it's most likely the cables? They look fine, and are only about 2 years old.
cable? it should have an external power brick to charge!? And yes, those things can die from like power surges in the power grid. Unlikely that both speakers die at the same time.
@@mygiguser Yeah, both cables have the power brick and interchangeable plug 🔌. And now that both batteries are dead I can't get either to charge. They played great as I watched the batteries die while trying different combinations of the power- cables/chords. The ports on both look fine. I took one battery out and it looked fine. Guess I have to try a new cable. Thanks!
My speaker doesn't charge it always has the red light on n off while charging can it be the battery or charger??

Cool video. Thanks. I have a bush classic retro Bluetooth speaker from Argus. So I ripped apart. They soaked the battery connection block in goo. So I just ripped the cables offa the battery at the battery itself. Any top tips.on reconstruction ? Solder n tape the wires ? Or get a Miro connection block ? Or rip the new cables off new battery n solder old cables from unit to new battery ... Thanks.

SPE CONSCIOUSNESS easiest to use the wires from the old battery pack, but don’t rip them off, make sure you don’t damage the battery control board if it has one in the pack!
I left the old wires attached to the contoll board and ripped them off from the battery side.
The connection block is really flimsy and its soaked in a to. Of glue...

There are Lots of speakers still using shit 18650 which capacity from 2200mah to 2600mah. Just like xtreme 2 using 2600mah. Why they can't use 3500mah (18650GA or 18650B) 18650? They are dirt cheap. Only 3 dollar each.

Why are you making a video on how to replace the battery on a BT speaker that's not even being widely sold in stores just yet?
Robert NES816 for people to see the improvement in the battery compartment, and to be first. This is a quality speaker, and after many years the battery will probably die. If that is the case, then the video is ready.

Dj Mando Live Chicago depends on the batteries used, but i guess more than a 1000 charge cycles.

My speaker only charges up to the 4th led bar. (About 75%) I’ve had it charged for like 15 hours and it’s not going up. does this mean I need a new battery?
the 5th led might have broken, try to check the real battery capacity by app, download jbl connect on playstore, this might help you
This happened on my JBL Xtreme 1. Take it back and get another. All the leds should stay solid when it is fully charged.

Just two of my 18650 batteries can replace the package of 4 batteries and last even longer (current r batteries) 5,500 mah 7.5v vs (my 2 18650) 6,000 mah 7.4v
Now if I put 4 in there it would be 12,000 mah with 14.8v
@@calebleyland7182 nope thats wrong it would be 12000mAh 7,4v or 6000mAh 14,8v but i don´t think that there is even any 18650s which have like you described it 6000mAh out there whats the model number from yours

Just from the way the battery (looks), I'd say it is a different kind of battery - which is a GOOD thing. The X1 came with a battery that looked like two long strips. This one looks like the kind where 4 cells are wired up together and taped up to look like one component. Hopefully this new battery actually works well compared to the faulty designed battery of the X1.
Thats a bad news for me then. Bc. My xtreme 1 had battery issues , so i changed the battery and now its working fine. Now that it is a different battery, and it still have a battery issue after then i probably wont be able to change the battery again.
The battery i replaced my xtreme 1 last me a whole day of playing music 50-75% volume and would still have at least 2 bars or battery.
