  • In this tutorial I will show you how to replace your JBL charge 3 battery of the 2016 model (and newer) serial number starting with gg.
    If your serial number doesn't start with gg watch this video: • JBL Charge 3 battery r...
    This JBL didn't sound right, the sound was a bit crackling. The crackling sound was probably caused by dirt in the aux port. I noticed the swollen battery after opening the case.
    After replacing the battery and cleaning the aux port the JBL sounds great.

    My JBL Charge 3 was a gift from my late son back in 2017. It comes with a free small rounded speaker. Waiting for the battery I ordered from our local online shopping Lazada here in the Philippines amounted to almost 6 hundred php pesos. I would cherish my JBL Charge 3 for the rest of my life.

      different batteries are used in the charge 3. I would first take out the old battery and with the part number of the old battery. type it in to google and see where it can be ordered for your place of residence. check that the connector shape and the location of the red and black wires are the same. good luck

    A great technician takes his time and is thorough, you accomplished both in this video! One quick tip, I struggled holding two guitar picks, I cut a 1/8" by the legth of the pick and was able to slide this under the clips. That or somthing thin enough to go under the clips without stretching them too far. Great Job!

    Perfect video! THANK YOU!! The battery I purchased on Amazon came with only the skinny metal flat end tool and a small phillips screwdriver. Both worked fine, but if you use the screwdriver be careful to keep that tool level on the screwhead, or it is easy to round out the screw head. Better to use a little better screwdriver if you have one. Getting the tabs to stay up so you can twist the speaker cap off was the hardest part, and that was pretty easy lol. Just need something additional that has a skinny flat end if your battery kit doesn't come with two. Mine didn't have any guitar picks, but I used the flat ended metal tool that came with the battery for one tab, and the end of a small paint scraper to hold the other tab up. Great no-fluff video. Well done!

    The battery was so swollen that several of the screw holes lips cracked or broke once I started releasing pressure from the cover. Best to apply pressure to the battery cover until all the screws are loosened or rotate around the cover loosening each screw a bit so that the pressure from the battery is released slowly and evenly for each screw.

      same happened to me. After reassembling the battery housing I saw the cracks which i feared would interfere with the waterproof rating. I looked online to see if JBL sells new battery covers, they do not, so I took matters into my own hands and just put super glue in all the cracks to fully waterproof it. While I know that means I wont be able to open the housing again I'm perfectly ok with that.When my new battery goes bad I'll just buy a new speaker. The first one gave me a good 3.5 years. Heres to 3.5 more!

    Une grand merci depuis la France, mes vis étaient très grippé, heureusement un coup de wd 40 fait l'affaire. Et l'ancienne batterie était aussi très gonflé !

    Tried to follow this. But I guess I have a different speaker cause it definitely didn't come out like your one. Luckily for me i haven't used it in a while anyway cause it stopped working. But now I'm gonna need a new case and battery if I do fix it. 😅

      There are idd 2 different models of the jbl charge 3, the video of the other model is in the description.
      What a shame you damaged your speaker.

      The green cell works fine. And fits nicely in the housing. I think it's about the same as the original.
      I have no experience with Patona.

    Thank you for the tutorial. Would you happen to know where to get the plastic battery cover? Mine was completely cracked and broken off by the swollen battery.

      Mine was broken too. I couldn't find a replacement then. But I was able to fix it with superglue.

    I don’t have the black strap around my batter replacement, it’s that necessary for safety or anything?

    • @SpareTimeWorkshop
      @SpareTimeWorkshop  8 месяцев назад

      I don't think it makes much difference. It prevents your battery from sliding in the housing. You can fill it with other tape to prevent sliding.

      Hi, different batteries are used. I would remove the old battery first. and use the part number written on the old battery to order a new one.
      When ordering, make sure that the red and the black wires are in the same place in the connector.

    Where can I buy a replacement battery? 🔋

  • @galaktionbzikadze1786

    I've changed the battery, it worked normally for 4-5 hours, but it suddenly stopped working, I opened it again and reconnected the wire, it started to work. Again it worked 4-5 hours and same happened. I think the battery is good, after 10 hours working its on second light (from forth). I think wire connection is bad, after reconnecting it starts to work from the same light point. have you ever had such problem and how did you solve?

    • @SpareTimeWorkshop
      @SpareTimeWorkshop  2 года назад

      No, unfortunately I have no experience with that.
      you can try to reset your JBL. (hold the plus button and play button until your JBL turns off)
      Or update the filmware with the Connect+ app. I have never done it myself. but maybe you are lucky and it works.
      good luck. let me know if it worked.

    Hi, how do I check if my batery it's decomposed? Thanks

    • @SpareTimeWorkshop
      @SpareTimeWorkshop  Год назад

      Indications that your battery is bad.
      -Short battery life
      -crackling sound in combination with the dimming of the lights on the buttons.
      -the battery is swollen.
      Crackling sound could also be a broken speaker or dirty AUX port.
