Yep, Toxic leadership will be the biggest problem. I am a poolee for the Marines and I am learning that now. If one of us screws up, we all fuck up. If the recruiter screws up we are all punished for it.
Remember this rule and you should be fine, Shit Rolls Down Hill.
If your superior is pissed he will likely take it out on you in retaliation.
If you try to say anything to justify whatever you are blamed for, it will be considered an excuse or a lie.
Remember to beware of Murphies law and you will do just fine. But to be fair same thing happens in office work all the time honestly.
All of it is toxic. DO NOT JOIN THE ARMY!!
Not going to lie to you man. It gets really old, fast. Wait for when you’re on the first day, of 4 day holiday weekend. You’re enjoying your time off playing video games in your barracks room when you get a text saying “company formation in 30 minutes”. You show up and find out some dumbass in your company was drunk driving, and fled the police. He got arrested. Now, your entire company just lost its 4 day weekend, and you’re all stuck at the company area until someone pays his $4000 bail. And for the rest of the weekend, you’re on duty doing mindless tasks around the base to ensure nobody else gets drunk and drives

Listen. When a recruiter says they have infantry tell them…no thanks. I’ll take 25B. It’s one of the few jobs in the Army that equals out to a high paying civilian job. You’ll get certs and a Top Secret Clearance that the government pays for. Do your 4 years then get out and get a government IT job and make starting out $120,000. If they act like they can’t put you in as a 25B…go to the Air Force recruiter. Better housing and better treatment overall with them. 😂😂😂
Infantry doesn’t do ANYTHING for civ world. Learned that the hard way. Unless you want law enforcement or another gov agency
Fuck desk jobs
This is assuming they score high enough to qualify for the job. So many people barely score enough to get in. Even though the Army has the lowest ASVAB requirements.........yes...even lower than the Marines. Air Force requires higher scores for the same jobs and there is no guarantee that you'll get the job you want. At least with the Navy and Army you can pick your MOS before signing a contract. Army just lets you do it at the recruiting station. Where as the Navy lets you pick at MEPS. My brother went Air Force and didn't know his job till the end of BMT. He didn't get the Air frame he wanted either and was stuck with the one he got.
I do tell new kids to do something along the lines of what you just said though. Especially if they score decent on the test.
