I set out to remove the YN-560ii which is stuck to the body of my Canon Rebel T5i. Since starting this channel, I've been looking for ways to improve the quality of the vlogs I produce and I discovered a
"broken" T5i abandoned in my own closet! Check out the 5 steps I take to reclaim the camera and get it back in working order.

I unboxed my very first speed light and attached it for the first time and I'm like great! Now I'll put it away! Or so I thought.. Now I'm here.
Oh no! Please tell me you were able to get the light off your camera better than I did!

I got my flash unstruck, but I had to disassemble the base of the flash. The locking pin that drops into the hot shoe was bent and it would not release. So, I removed it, straighten it out and lubricated it, so that it would move in and out of the hole freely and now it's fixed...
Good work!
I’m glad this tale had a (mostly) happy ending! I couldn’t stop watching until I knew what finally worked.
+fandomnessa thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Got mine stuck, get a paperclip and find a little hole at the front hotshoe speedlite attachment, it is located near the twist lock, you might need to screw/unscrew to see the little hole. Poke with a little uplifting movement and it will release the lock pin.
Great tip! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment!
So cool u and Pablo know each other in real life ! Super cool
Dulce Mom Life we have known each other for several years. Last August I joined the school district he works for so we work together and share office space now. It's cool!
"PRIORITIZE AND EXECUTE"!! Made me laugh. That sucks, it always makes me terrified when my flash sticks momentarily, or when a filter gets jammed. Great video, I loved the "story" of it
+Jonathan Sims thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! During freelance gigs, my nerves are always on edge about equipment malfunction! That, plus the adrenaline and expending the "fun" energy of shooting leave me wiped out afterward.
Same case, but my phottix statro triger that stuck on my canon 1200d, till now the problem still not fixed
Oh no! That's so frustrating!
It works for me Thanks!!!!, I was trying everything, and the screw driver twisted was the clue to fix it. I had a nikon d5500 with a yongnuo wireless hot shoe adaptor stuck over it.
Ramses Olivares that's great! Glad you fixed it.
Nice video wow that was a mission lol definitely subscribed!
Nice informative video Wes!
Already fixed mine. My trigger stucked in my camera. I made a DIY. No broken pieces.
Love it! Great work!
Spoiler Alert, he DESTROYS the flash to get it off the hotshoe, something I pretty much could have done to solve my own problem 2 mins after I discovered it lol. I guess in your defense you didn't specify you FIXED it in your video title, so I guess that's my fault for assuming you did haha. Thanks for trying, but I'd rather keep my flash at this point, so the search continues.... ;)
From everyone I've talked to, there is a tiny metal pin that gets stuck between the flash and the body. There's got to be a way to get it unstuck! I hope you have better luck with it than I did!
@@WesKriesel Haha yeah, I ended up finding an old forum post somewhere (can't seem to remember where) that said on a lot of flashes (my Canon EXIIIRT included) there's a little 'flap/plastic mechanism' on the front side of the flash (that points the same way as the camear lens) just above where the locking pin is. When you manipulate that up or down it unlocks the locking pin and the flash just slides right off, no force required. I've been struggling with this for 2 weeks and in the end it took a few seconds and little effort. Thank heavens for those interwebs lol.
❤️❤️❤️Awesome!
“Stuck on a ... cruise ship.” 😂
My locking wheel won't spin to tighten. Has anyone fixed this before?
Sorry to hear. Did you get this fixed?
Well Done!
If it ain’t fixed, break it.
Capitan Bastos basically, yes! I had nothing to lose.
Old Viking saying.
Makes me not want to put a light on my camera
First! 1st! Primero!
Sorry, youtube would not allow me to post the images...
No worries. Glad you got it fixed!
I was shooting a wedding and could no get my flash off to use my pocket wizards and strobes. It was stuck on my main body and like you, I tried everything I could to get it off at the wedding. Thank God I had my back--up camera... Btw, I too fashioned my own right angle jeweler's screwdriver to get off the front screws. Thank you for that bit of advise...
Terrific, Wes. Now we see your Neanderthal roots!!!! There is this one other tool.........
Ron Kriesel I take it you’re referring to me hitting the camera? If it’s something else, let me know....because this cave man can’t see it.
Dude if you had lifted the pin at the front you would have saved your flash
True! Wish I had been able to get that to work.
What an annoyance huh.
My yongnuo video light got stuck on my Canon T8I, only way I could take it out was with a flat screwdriver, in the front part of the youngnuo video light, from the part that you twist to put it on the camera, from the front side of the camera (where it says "Canon", in the middle you'll see a tiny plastic, you must pull it up and then remove the video light, it worked
I'm posting this here so if anyone needs it :D
Great tip! Thank you for sharing.
