Watch a comparison video. The voice acting from the OG actor is stunning. It's his spacing between the words. He just sounds like more of a leader, more capable, more intimidating. TV version came off as a really creepy loser.

Asking the guy who brings meat "what kind of meat is it?" and then the glances exchanged and the hesitation before grabbing the meat and adding it to the pot clearly shows that they knew sth. The guy bringing it was silencing them when he said venison and kept looking at them.
Played trought The Last Us plenty of times. After watched the show completaly happy, it really delivered. The way to makes you're Concept delivere in shows and movies is a different way then deliver in video games. So happy they manage to get this and delivered!

Es una batalla de superioridad entre el juego y la serie. Eso me encanta, por ejemplo todo el arco de los hermanos es muchísimo mejor en la serie, pero a mi parecer el capítulo de Left behind es mejor en el juego
It's hard because they are two different mediums; the reveal of David's intentions in the game is a bit more impactful because you spend time fighting infected with him, but there isn't time to delve into who he is or what his community is like. Whereas the show has to give context, it's not like the game where you are watching from a fixed perspective and half of your time is preoccupied from shooting zombies. Religious cultism is a bit cliche but David in the show essentially explains that it is just a guise for him, and he manipulates vulnerable people into following him thru religion while he gets to exploit them for his own gain - he doesn't believe in what he preaches, but what preaching does for him.

The religious extremism aspect is such a lazy crutch to rely on to make it easier to see a person as evil. Felt like an unnecessary inclusion and its a far too commonly used trope.
It's about the cult thing about it, man. If you look up real-life cults that have been disarmed or investigated, the majority of them have religious extremism since religion is a pretty manipulative thing for people when they're vulnerable. That's how cult leaders can abuse their followers under the excuse that "it's God's way" or something like that.
They probably dont like doing it that way themselves. This is the internet where you need to get everybody’s attention with all the competition around.

The whole game is like a cinematic movie. It's not surprising the adaptation was well made and cinematically similar to the game.
