Just as a extra note! When leaning on the rails you need to lean on the INSIDE of corners for the multiplier to work. You can’t just lean in any direction when taking the corners. Dont think I clarified that well enough so be aware.
It is explained in the tutorial with the Franks how to do it but they explain it so quick I'm sure a lot of ppl missed how to do it, appreciate you for explaining it.
Franks explained it
Dope this been pretty good so far with the game!!!
They need to patch rail tricks indefinitely. 100 points is far too low.
@@invalidblackoutrail tricks are basically filler. go for corners, wallrides, vert, specials
i see a lot of people complaining about the combat being sluggish quick tip if you jump after doing any attack it lets you do an aoe that knocks enemies into the air and once they're up you're able to tag them which instantly kills them you can do this with shield enemies as well by targeting a normal enemy and getting the jump off of them
and that obviously also helps propel you even higher, use it to your advantage to reach graffiti above you!
Dude I mashed the whole game. Combat is an afterthough, and I'd argue that's the point lol. You're so busy doing cool shit tricking everywhere, running circles around enemies. The bosses are just that too, use movement to find a hit or two and then spray paint. I love it.
I just wished there was a bit air combat outside of graffitiing them. would be cool to have some sort of air kicks or juggling tools
Nah I actually have hella fun with the combat because not only was I not expecting it, jsr didn’t have that at all, all you could do is spray them for a small stun
@@NoeLoFi I'm not saying what we have in the game isnt fun, it just would have added a bit. Plus the game is just inspired by JSR it doesn't have to copy everything from it.
All my Tony hawk gameplay set me up perfectly for the combos and moving in this game 😭😭
I had no idea you could do boost tricks while on manual! Thats so great for fluidity. Thank you so much for the guide! Been playin this game nonstop
That's a cess slide
"manuals" are for skateboarding. It literally says "cess slide"
@@CasualCastleakshually ☝️🤧
How do the boost trick work? I can't do it as consisten and they deplete all of my boost bar in 4 -5jumps
@@oldboyevergreen5103you have to press boost and do a trick at the same time
This game was worth the hype and wait. Can't wait to see what else they bring to it (when/if they Reptile puts more content).
Another thing to note, and it's something to be careful of, is that holding the manual button while jumping lowers your jump height, if you're not careful you can miss a lot of jumps that way
And THERE'S the balance. I'm finding that it really can limit your routes within each borough. Relying on always manualing will stop you from making jumps. Gotta pepper in those grinds or long boost jumps to continue going to certain parts of the map.
Vynil texted that HOURS after I had missed multiple rails cus I overshot.
I always do a ground trick and let go of manual before jumping. It auto air tricks for you and retains the jump height.
keeps speed though so its worth to hold it before you jump onto flat ground and the speed will increase your manual time. can also help for jumping short gaps
@@ProphitDesignsnah with enough practice you can control when you're doing a high or low jump and still manual when you need. I see it as more of a way of getting more accurate control not just high jumping off every rail
Switching movement styles counts as a trick. And can extend your ground time
Not that useful though, but considering the minimal trick list overall (compared to a Tony hawk) it is somewhat helpful to mix up your limited tricks. It is fucking cool to look at though.
@@chungusamongus519 very visually pleasing to say the least
@@chungusamongus519 there are some areas with rideless slide carpets where that could actually be pretty cool, one of the early Mataan areas and the slide race come to mind.
@@chungusamongus519it's weird because this game feels like tony hawks a bit
But jet set radio had pretty limited tricks too, even jet set radio future, they kind of offset this in These games by different characters having different trick styles
Hey, nice guide! Wanted to add a few things you missed:
1. Wall-rides on billboards also add to the combo multiplier. Like the rails, they have to be "unique" billboards: riding over the same billboard during a continuous combo won't give you additional gains.
2. You can chain graffitis into the combos: every graffiti can essentially be resprayed during a continuous, unique combo. Oddly enough, you actually can spray these upon a return during the same combo for even more points (though I think repeating the same exact graffiti design doesn't get you points). Make sure you're holding the manual button while spraying graffiti so the combo doesn't end when you exit the graffiti sequence and land!
3. Mashing the same trick button (i.e. mashing X over and over again) will slowly lower the amount of points gained per input, so it's best to just press X, Y, and B in succession without repeating any single button too much.
4. Doing tricks while leaning into corners will not give you the corner multiplier + speed boost, so don't abuse the trick button too much while approaching corners.
5. You can turbo while jumping on brown air vents for vertical boosts: I think this gets you about 1000+ points every time for an automatic spin trick.
The combo system is so smartly designed -- not giving you corner multiplier while u trick into a corner naturally punishes spamming for example.
Amazing extra info! Love it, I made this video on a impulse mainly to try and help people get past that 25k points mission so I didn’t take into consideration all the extra tidbits of knowledge! Defs gonna have to come back and make a full blown guide after I finally beat the game hahah. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching, you know your stuff soul skaters 🤘🏻
There's one more thing that was not properly talked about that. I'll throw on here: when you do a manual boost trick, that fully resets your manual time. If you're trying to do a mailbot challenge for example, you can just do it by doing a manual, boost tricking, and going crazy.
There are also trickable items that are only interactable by certain styles. There's a red rod that you can extend using your skateboard, slide pads that can give you an infinite slide in freerun mode, and gate doors that only open for bikes. I haven't actually found one for roller skates yet, but hoping I find it soon. I'm sure there is one.
@@3heads0thoughts You can only break glass on the floor with the rollerblades, that's the unique skill that they have
...the game teaches these things guys...
I knew about a lot of the stuff mentioned here, but what I hadn't noticed is that flat ground boost tricks reset your manual timer. I didn't realize it until watching this video. That is absolutely disgusting to know and it'll make combos that can go on for basically forever. Thanks for making this!
The game tells you that's a thing, though it is an optional phone message, so it's not exactly imposible to miss.
The things that make your multiplier go up are all unique per combo so you can only do it once per combo those things being leaning into corners, wallriding billboards, sparying graffiti, amd going up ramps. I can easily get like a 25x multiplier by doing all of these things.
The corner multiplier is insane, i ended the crew battle with dot exe with like 1.5mil points
It makes every single crew battle a joke tbh
@@MaddRoxYuuntil you start doing post game challenges where you need 5 mil points in less than 5 minutes
It’s definitely too good for battles but almost necessary for hitting the high score achievements.
And then I found out you have to do a 6mil challenge to unlock futurism I ended up doing it in a single combo with like 30 seconds to spare. I had a multiplier of 71x by the end
ikr, I wish the game had difficulty settings because it's way too easy
It's so funny to me how being on manual keeping your combo and leaning in corners increasing your multiplier IS EXPLAINED IN GAME AT THE FIRST 30 MIN but everyone seems to skip it 💀
Glad this game got a lot of support day 1!
The idle dance is the one from JSRF, that’s a dope Easter egg 😮💨‼️
Great guide! You have to utilize all of these tips if you want to hit the achievements for later zones with 16+ mil score requirements.
Something you forgot to mention is air boost tricking. Get great for linking very far corners without touching the ground and getting to unattainable areas
This helped me SO much!! I was so lost in the beginning with the FRANKS crew challenge and this helped me pass it first try after watching! Thank you so much!
As I was saying "This would be better than Jet Set if it had momentum" you pressed the boost button and I spit out my drink. I'm so hype.
It might be better if the city wasn't so barren. It's bigger, but it feels lifeless and empty in comparison. They should have tightened it up, with fewer wide open spaces breaking the flow and more focus on verticality and combo chains.
you can also boost trick while in the air to gain insane momentum and if you complete the animation it gives a big boost to your score!
also holding the manual button while jumping off a rail makes you do a short hop that keeps more momentum
Thank you so much for making this, I am struggling with the first gang fight but now I think I can beat it!
I recognized the importance of the manual but didn’t know about boost tricks! Nice video…thank you for posting!
good video lad i had the most of it down but i hadn't realized manual boost-tricks were so good
this video helped me crazy lmaooo such a simple and forgiving system
Excellent video, well done! You just completely openp the game for me... I didn't know leaning was a multiplier or that you can do boost manual tricks. Thanks!
Insanely useful, thanks dawg!!
Great info!! Not enough people showcasing the game. Thanks man!
i knew most of this stuff from the games tutorial and my own tinkering, BUT i didn't know you just have to press boost to do a manual trick which resets the combo meter to full or that you can do ground tricks while manualing like that. so thank you very much!
no heres some tips for you: 1) your score multiplier goes up from wall rides too (you probably know this already but just figured id mention it since it wasnt specificed) and im pretty sure you get a little speed boost from properly leaning on rails aswell.
this game really synergizes with it self and rewards you for interacting with all of its system while stream lining them so that they all flow nicely
Look at that patient pidge just chilling next to Bel.
I absolutely adore this game, and on switch of all things its 60fps (most of the time with the "unleash the beast" mode enabled).
Coming from a late 30s something that bought a dreamcast for JSR and an OG xbox for JSRF this game makes my soul sing.
Thanks for the video mate!
This is really helpful! Thanks for making this video.
Thank you! I've been trying to look for ways to extend the manual meter for those bots that are in the square. This has been real helpful :)
Finally we getting videos for this game
I both love and was overwhelmed a bit with how free the game was from the start. I wasn't sure how to improve yet but I happened to come across. This was great! Gonna take this and really try to learn the maps and practice while I aim to finish the story.
Truly the funkiest of guides
Just something I want to emphazise to ppl. Those postgame score challenges *DO NOT FORGET* boost tricks are your best friend.
For the longest time I didn't even know boost tricks were a thing
Sic game and great vid. Super helpful
great video, clean and concise
Another thing to add is how the boost meter is charged is dependent on the score multiplyer. The higher your multiplyer is, the more boost meter is generated with each trick. Also, if you do a trick while hitting a hard corner, the trick overrides the corner multiplyer and not adding it to your score.
And you can manual land going down on slopes and stairs that will not drop your combo meter, but not going up stairs.
Thanks for the guide I definitely didn't know about the hard corner stuff
Couple of cool things I've seen are hopping off your board/skates/bike into a slide and hop back on. Also you can air dash then boost or vice versa to get even more air.
Great stuff man!
This man deserves more subs let's make it happen guys
Nice video! Already figured out all the stuff showed here but it's nice ot have it confirmed in a video.
Great guide I found it on the Reddit community very helpful
im so pissed, i had no clue you could reset the manual meter with boost tricks. im so glad i watched this, ive been STRUGGLING with the post-game combo challenges
Legends say he's still doing combo's.
Been going for style and transfers been really enjoying myself
Excited to try this, I genuinely gave up yesterday after a couple miserable hours. I thought the tutorial in game was basically useless - for instance, I have no idea what a manual is. But Ive got a place to start, now, thanks!
this game is so chill and great and just so great
Holy shit dude thanks. The boosting during a manual is a god send.
thx a lot
I am in interest in this game
gonna buy soon
The game does a pretty good job of teaching you a lot. I was able to do just fine on the eclipse level too.
Amazing game just got even more amazing for me, thanks for the tips!!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
love how you have the summer outfit for bel it's So Pretty 😭😭😭😭😭😭
What you didn't mention is that wallrides increase your multiplier, too. It's best to do corners and wallriders at the beginning of a combo to quickly rack up the combo multiplier.
The best games are the ones with just a few set of moves but to know how to use them creatively and effectively which gives u the most satisfaction
ty vaaashhhh
Helped a lot
Something I personally like doing instead of manual boost tricking, is doing a jump boost trick instead, the timing is a bit tricky at first, but once you get it, it's incredible for keeping up combos, since it completely clears meter usage
Awesome 🔥
the game just released and now there's movement guides damn the community is fast
thank you
A good movement option is Jump, Boost, Second Jump and Boost Trick, it lets you gets some real good distance.
This game looks sick
Keeping a manual immediately reminded me of pro skater
this game looks sick
I am eagerly awaiting for this to drop on Xbox
This game has been amazing
Thanks for the guide but I do feel this is the biggest weakness of the game : you cannot fall, ever. This means theres no satisfaction for landin tricks, same for the graffiti game thats just mashing directions with non timer
Once you understand the movement system there's really no way to fail most challenges other than missing a rail and falling off the level. So I do think that a little more skill in keeping your combo would go a long way. Leaning the wrong way on rail corners slows you down until you lose balance and fall off. Tricking too close to the bottom of a half pipe trips you. Manuals could have forward backward balance to keep it going. Doesn't need to be super punishing, just a little bit more depth would help a lot.
I recommend you do jump boost tricks when trying to extend manuals, it gives you full momentum and you get more time on the ground
Nice video
KUDOS From Brazil!!!
Can't remember if it was mentioned but wallriding also builds up the multiplier, as well as hard-cornering
I just finished with the 25k, 40 sec challenge. Took a lot of practice but I guess my tip would be: plan out routes, that way you don't have to scurry in finding the next closest rail or billboard when you land on ground, and if you land on ground, hold that manual ZR button (but not too long obviously) 😉
It’s not just corners on rails. Wall runs and quarter pipes add to the multiplier as well!
Couple of things, since I've been going for the giant score achievements I've picked up a few more tips:
1. You have a total of 4 tricks each for sliding, grinding, and jumping - those being (on an Xbox controller) your X, Y, B, and Boost tricks. I believe the highest point scoring move is the airborne boost trick, but it requires the largest amount of time to execute so make sure you plan accordingly and have ample room to finish the animation or else you won't get any point rewards.
2. There's a stale trick mechanic, so you will earn fewer points if you keep repeating the same trick over and over again.
3. There are three ways to increase your score multiplier. The first was stated in the video - doing a Hard Corner, which involves leaning into a steep turn on a rail. The other two are jumping up a half-pipe and wall sliding on a billboard, both of these also increase your score multiplier. Just like doing Hard Corners, you can only use an individual half-pipe or billboard once per combo chain.
4. You can refresh your combo meter during a slide by going down an incline or jumping down a ledge. If it gives you downward momentum, it will refresh your timer.
I didn't know other people had an issue with the 40sec mission, took me a couple attempts but its really fun just styling on people in this game
You can also do boost tricks while grinding!
You also get multiplayers from wall riding/running during a combo.
Cool detail I noticed is in the Green/Blue city type area, on that one tower where you get up really high, if you go across all those pipes you can get X2 multipliers instead of a X1 form regular rails, if you do it like diognally? Not sure if it makes sense but thats the only area I've been able to do that at/those types of rail pipes
Also worth mentioning that you get multiplier from doing vert and wallrides!
love the game already. still trying to figure out the robo things on the hill level (i'm high as hell and cant remember the name) i'm noticing you have to keep a combo in order to hit all 4 and for them to count lol
the thing is when on manual, your combo bar starts to go down, boost tricks reset the manual combo timer
Its not only corners the boards where you do wallruns also increase your multiplier
One thing I’ve been wondering about is which skate seems the most effective, I’ve noticed skateboarding is a little slow while bmx is faster and if there’s different point bonuses for each skate
You also get multipliers by wall running/skating
i could see them patching out the infinite ground trick thing or make it shorter rather. But wow this game looks cool...i just dont know about 51CAD...kinda insane. but i guess i gotta play first
I learned through instinct
6:58 popo hatin
the eclipse section made me want to punch my monitor 💀
Hey bro, cool video, I also bought the game on friday! :) I hadn't thought about spamming bost tricks while sliding, I only do them on the rails mostly. Have you tried the missions you unlock after finishing the game, the ones where you challeng a member from the crews you beat? I couldn't beat any of them yeat, you have like 4 minutes to surpass their score which can be like 3 or 5 million, it's insane, but I'm sure someone is gonna figure it out in the next couple of days.
Based Lloyd profile picture. Was the coffee really cold?
"manual" is when you do a wheelie on a skateboard. that's a cess slide, it's when you slide on the edge of your wheels.
2 days after launch:
im Run Down exausted from 6 hours of trynna beat the Ecclipse crew battle just to find out using r2 saves your combo.........funny because at first it didnt...the game glitched first day and let me proceed 🤫
i need a guide on how to meet rise at the top of the pyramid cuz i cant get up there fr
what button do i press for the manual boost tricks as shift takes me out of the combo with a blue boost
can you make a tutorial on how to get characters?
Grind > Jump trick > Boost trick > Manual/Wheelie/Slide > Grind
Easy combo.
A guide for folks who never played JSRF
Man so that's why boost tricking wasn't working, I was doing them backwards. I kept boosting out of tricks thinking that's what it wanted me to do
you can build a multiplayer off of half pipes to
