Hi John just found your videos. They are helping me get a better understanding of my diabetes. Just one thing I wish you would have explained more about the sign of hypos. How the first signs eg. sweating tingling around lips pale palor if treated quickly prevent the next signs which are more serious eg slurred speech disorientated which can then if still not treated lead on to coma. Its just that I have had diabetes for 10years but only found out that the disorientation means the hypo is getting more serious. Thank you

Thanks Elizabeth. You're right of course. For me I know that it starts with a little lightheadedness then if it gets really bad my knees start going wobbly. I think it's incredibly important that everyone do what you've done and learn their own warning signs under different conditions (mine are different when I'm playing sports, for instance). We took a crack at covering lows in the 'What is Type 1 Diabetes' video - ruclips.net/video/AgT7pCqOqQ0/видео.html, but that one just contains some basics around what a low feels like. Thanks for highlighting this point. I think it will be useful to everyone here.

Joe your videos are very helpful. However, when you you talk about the rule of 15 and say to use 30 oz of juice that would actually be around 105 grams of carbs which would over treat being that 4 oz of orange juice provides 15 grams of carbs, or around 3 oz of grape juice provides 15 grams of carbs. I am thinking you meant to say 3 oz of juice?

In your cause of Hypos, you havent mentioned Injection Technique. 1 in 5 hypos is also caused by poor injection technique...there are at least 5 key clinical studies that examine this area.
Proper rotation, avoiding Lipos and never re using your needle is just some of the key areas that are not adhered to. Recent studies suggest at least 60% of all injecting type 1 & type 2 patients do not inject correctly. This causes elevated HBA1c, elevated FBG, increased insulin and weight gain!
    Hope this helps!
