well said ! An Emperor. I saw one of his last performances. He was, I believe, about 90. He played without pause, perfectly erect, untouched by time...amazing !

Hi, wonderful video...would you happen to have any more videos from Carnegie Hall from 34 to 74? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to rebuild the history of the Piano been used in this concert it is call the Steinway CD199 or The Old 199 that was the favorite Steinway for all the greatest world pianists and it became such a big problem for Steinway because celebrities like Rubinstein, Bernstein, Graffman, Horowitz, Gershwin and others where having conflicts to get the piano for their concerts so Steinway decided to remove the piano from it's inventory in 1974 and Gary Graffman with Ruth Henderson made a move and where able to get the Piano donated to the Skitch Henderson Museum in New Milford CT and now we are trying to revive it. Last October 17th Chris Brubeck was here to play the Old 199 since it was last played by Skitch in 2005 before his death.
This is supposedly all one concert, and yet the piano faces the audience at different angles for each piece! Was it a splicing of two separate performances onto one reel?
Increible!
My Spanish is sort of rusty... I 'll try to brush it up spending a few weeks in Madrid... He Ignored some segments? I'm not aware of that. However, some of them are Indeed far too long. Becoming Monoutonous and kind of Boring. This Unbelievable Master was allowed to take a few short-cuts. Chopin told me in an heavily accented English: "I Ain't Got No Objections. This Dude is The King Of Cool". And if Chopin himself vouches for this Dude, I ain't saying nothing nomore...
Presently, every single pianista bangs ou the keyboard . Even Lang Lang, who hapens be fabulous. Rubinstein, playing very fast or at a slower pace always was extremely smooth and musical. One was able to "feel and see every single note flying into the air " .
His Chopin was marvelous. This rendition, not his best. He is up there with Lang Lang. If you look closely, you can see Fiorello LaGuardia in the first row (glasses) with is lovely wife Marie Fisher(white sequins)

Amazing Wanderfull and perfect pianist
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem. Wielkość Chopina jest niezmierzona i poza wszelkimi schematami ❤️
One of my favorite pieces of music ... and wonderfully done!
Legendary 🌹
Rubinstein: lo máximo, una maravilla.

Amazing.
Marvellous interpretation! Thank you!
No pianist plays Chopin as well as the great Rubinstein played it!
Thank you for sharing this video. I love it
This is the right method. Beautiful performance! I think he knows what to take.
Incredible !
Damn! In this movie, Heifetz has my fave piece played then Rubinstein played also my fave pieces from Chopin
I love his playing. I'm sorry I couldn't directly listen to the music he plays.😢
To hear the performance. Mnatsats you got it!
AWESOME

at this time, audiences had to undergo an exhausting 2 years of practicing applauding synchronously.
In my opinion sometimes he played the polonaise even better then in this concert. The Fire Dance is perfect.

Máster of master

The video is speeded up but I personally really enjoy it that way , probably because due to the process , the pitch is changed .

Arthur Rubinstein on Speed? Very interesting .
He plays piano with pokerface xD
He can't help it.. It's the one that came with his head.
Que tenga
it's a shame it's speeded up...the speed at which he played and pitch is probably fantastic to hear
You can found the complete movie on RUclips and hear it without the speed up... Surprisingly he didn't play it a lot slower.
Tolma chgitein incha.

sounds slightly too fast, since it's slightly sharp it might be the case
I doubt he intended to play this in just 5 minutes, but I may be wrong
Probably is speed up a bit
He skipped a section so originally it would be around 6:40, which is normal
Presently, every single pianista bangs ou the keyboard . Even Lang Lang, who hapens be fabulous.

This video has been sped up
Well that’s probably due to old recording technology. Still find it enjoyable
I agree, it just doesn't sound natural to me is all 🤷♂️

As an Italian, I prefer the interpretation by Pollini.
The appreciation of music, as a universal language, should have nothing to do with one's origin
All is well, Rubinstein championed Pollini, I've heard both, and they are both true artists.
