452 day countdown to The Cabins at Fort Wilderness. I stayed there during the 50th for Christmas and loved it and now I want to Experience Halloween. It didn’t seem much more expensive than the usual price hike from year to year. Except the $750 not the $200 deposit I was expecting. This is booking through Disney not a DVC rental.

Nice! I've heard that the holidays are GREAT times to visit Fort Wilderness and even though it was after the fact, the 4th of July decorations while we were there REALLY had us wanting to go wander around during different times of the year!

I have so many mixed feelings about the new cabins so I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

A random thought i had while watching was they should include golf cart rental for the length of your stay for DVC members to enhance the value of the cabins. Cash bookings would still pay for their own cart rental.

Thanks for sharing this video. Not that it matters, but I still cannot embrace the idea that Disney got rid of the old cabins and replaced them with the DVC resort cabins. Gone are the days where a typical family would pay to stay in the campground and get all of the benefits of camping, only to be spending the night in a rustic cabin and not a tent, trailer, or motorhome. I just can't see it the other way where a family who are used to and are familiar with the amenities of a DVC property (e.g., Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, Riviera Resort, etc.) wanting to stay in a campground and share facilities and amenities with the regular camper/motorhome people.

You're definitely not alone here! I've got so much more to say about this, but I'm short on time today. . . so keep an eye on the channel 'cause we're gonna talk about this! 😄

The video lighting makes it look like you are involved in a hostage interrogation!
4:47 It seems like this may be appropriate for your thoughts and feelings about the new property! 😂

I don’t hate the new cabins, but I don’t like the layout. I definitely felt like the old cabins needed a refresh, and I think the new designs are cute, but I wish they could’ve just redesigned the interiors of the old cabins.

I didn't get a chance to stay in the old cabins, but I did take some time once we got back to look at the room tours. I wanted to get a better idea of what it is that you guys had before it was updated. While I definitely see how this feels like a major change, and in many ways it is, I think that those of you who really loved the cabins for the location rather than the aesthetic of the cabins itself are going to love the way some of these changes enhance the cabin. Specifically the floor to ceiling windows that REALLY bring the outdoors inside.
As far as the layout, is what I'm seeing right? Was the bathroom in the middle of the cabin rather than all the way across it? I mean, I understand why some of the other layout changed. . to accommodate for the windows. . . but if I'm understanding that right, this is the most inconvenient change that I'm able to notice.

At first I was SUPER against the cabins. I thought they really killed the theme of the resort as the cabins looked way to modern and like a shipping container. But I have to say after watching videos of walk throughs, I think I actually really like the look of them, it’s defiantly not as bad as the art released by Disney. BUT I’m still extremely against these being DVC. Makes no sense to me at all. Really a shame you pay DVC prices for a camp ground/regular resort. Rather them build a brand new dvc resort on new property instead of what they’re doing lately with these, Polynesian and the Rivera

They definitely aren't as bad in real life as they looked in the concept art and, quite frankly, I don't think that photos do these new cabins any justice. Don't get me wrong. . . . they absolutely killed the theme of the resort. That said, as soon as you choke down the horse pill that is the reality that Disney has put the concept of theme on the back burner [which I'm still struggling to get down myself], these cabins are a nice update. The natural light and floor to ceiling windows are beautiful and really bring the outdoors inside, which I love. That's not to say they don't have their flaws, but I do think they are nice.
As far as this being a DVC Resort. . . . I'm right there with you. Nothing about The Cabins is consistent with what DVC Members are paying for and/or expect from DVC. There's a LOT that I want to say about this, but I'll be typing all night long and I've got laundry to rotate. 😅 Long story short though, making The Cabins DVC makes no sense to me either.

ah come on! Now I have to wait!!! LOL... I think the cabins needed a little love... not sure they 'feel' like cabins. I think what people tend to remember is how something made them feel.

You and me both! I've got a TON of editing to do. 😂 I think it depends on what your version of a "cabin" is. In some places, when you say "cabin" we're talking about small rustic hunting cabins. In other places, a "cabin" is a much bigger and more modern house. Both feel cabin-y if you're doing cabin-y things, at least in my opinion.
