    It’s a shame he couldn’t get off the sauce, a great talent, he wasn’t the nicest of people though.

    I do believe I would have given up, not my right arm, but seriously a digit, to have seen him playing in Chicago. I can imagine it was quite the sight to behold. Had no idea...damn! ❤☮🌎

    Had a barroom fight with John Martyn in '92. Told me he was a Freemason. I called it the mafia of the mediocre.( He lost his temper) Still had a major influence on my songwriting and musical performance. Have a listen.

    That’s the period when I first started going to John Martin gigs whenever he turned up in the north east. I still listen to the apprentice and cooltide regularly - a departure from his previous style but I loved it. Maybe not for everyone, and maybe he recognised that, as he always played a bit of everything from his back catalogue. He was a real crowd pleaser, mesmerising guitarist, powerful singer, and great craic

    John's dual accent is like his music in that it can be very harsh yet pretty soft too...miss his antics and blinding talent
