This bad boy looks incredible! 👍 I really liked War Room a lot, had the same kinda turn order bid going on.
This looks fascinating! This is the adult version of Risk!
Risk 2210 AD is the adult version of Risk.
War Room meets Diplomacy. I love it!
Note that a 2 player game of Imperial Borders is entirely possible (even preferable to some)....this removes any backstabbing entirely... only front-stabbing! it becomes more chess-like in the anticipation of enemy movements.
Very cool looking game! Love the Diplomacy set up, seems like it has a lot of social deduction and plotting, in addition to your personal tactics.
Ohhh wow, this looks amazing!
Amazing! This reminds me of imperial glory campaign 2005.
Looks pretty damn cool!
Cav-al-ry. Not cal-va-ry. My 5th grade teacher had to correct me in front of the whole class while I was doing a Waterloo oral report. I will never forget. And, she was right. Calvary is a site immediately outside of Jerusalem's walls, where in the Christian tradition, Jesus was crucified. Which is probably where I got the pronunciation... from my heavy attendance in Catholic church as a kid.
And while we're at it: "Pra-VONSE" not "Provence." 😉
@@gospelofrye6881 i'm french and the way you wrote it doesn't sound right...
@@Uthe007 pruh-vons / pro-vonse / pɹəˈvɒns / pɹəˈvɒ̃s / pʁɔ.vɑ̃s.
Hey Gimpy excellent job as always! The game looks amazing, and Just BEAUTIFUL I am sure a lot of demanding work as well. However, WHAT A BUMMER! I would have SO MUCH LOVED to have seen Napoleonic Wars???? Europe is Ravaged 3+ Millon dead and now more WAR??? Ummmmm? Darn, Darn again would I have loved to see Napoleonic.
Thats just my thoughts would have loved 1805-1815. What a Bummer!!! I am sure the KS will Burst on this one as it looks Gorgeous, that neoprene map of Europe wow!
:)
Thabk you! Tell the publishers what you want. If there is a big enough demand for it they might set their next game in that time frame. Me personally I would like to see these guys do something modern. Aircraft carriers and nukes here we come!!!
You scream, i scream, we all scream for neopren.
HA! I like it
The Congress of Vienna was not so successful, it actually led to another wave of revolutions that re-established all the reformations of the French Revolution that Napoleon's enemies tried to revert. Napoleon won the war of ideas.
However, what it WAS successful at doing was creating a blueprint for states, in particular their leaders, to convene and settle disputes that would guarantee peace. Before the Congress, European monarchs only made peace one-on-one through middleman ambassadors. After the Congress, international diplomacy is almost unimaginable without having leaders and representatives of states gather together in person to sort things out. Even when it seems Napoleon's ideas won out in the end (that's another debate that resists simple explanations), people still copied the blueprint the Congress created to achieve international cooperation.
What are the dimensions of the map? Not sure if my table will be big enough 😅
I already packed up the prototype kit, and I didn't think to measure it first. I would estimate about 4x4 give or take a few inches based on how it fit on my table.
The algorithms failed me! Only now discovered this video and the majesty of this game. Looks like it's unavailable to procure now! 😞
@dfwpiper1 I would email the publisher. They are nice guys and I'm sure will help if they can. Not saying they will for sure because the orders might be locked in, but it can't hurt to ask right?
Thx for sharing this preview. But it's a pity, that the map looks kinda wrong.
Looking at the southern border of Denmark, I assume that the map shall render the situation after the congress of Vienna. In this case - at a glance - the whole western part of Prussia (the Rhein-Provinz) is missing. Hessen, Kurhessen and Nassau are missing also and Thuringia plus Württemberg are way to big.
@kaizimmer417 to be fair no 2d flat map can be truly accurate. I just guessing here but I'd bet it has more to do with how many neutral zones they wanted to have in the game.
My only concern is the cost because of the size. They could make the game smaller and use wood pieces to make it more affordable.
Bad idea…that’s not the idea
Do two Half Infantry count as one Full Infantry, especially for Combined Arms purposes?
@andykaufman7620 I believe so, but don't quote me snce I don't have the rulebook anymore. I already shipped the prototype back to them.
Calvary XD. Classic.
I was getting ready to tell you "No it's Cav..." until I realized that you wouldn't be saying something unless I made the mistake....😬
Hi,
Will the final map be a single piece? I see this map seems to be made up of at least two neoprene sections.
Cheers.
I don't think so, but don't know for sure. The 2 pieces do make it fit in the box much easier though
@@thegimpygamerThanks for replying. I take it that you didn't use edge clips to keep them together and during play the two parts didn't slide or bunch?
Cheers.
@@stephenfarrell8587 The game map will be sliced in two and roll up to fit in the 2 foot long box. Slipping shouldn't be a problem since the neoprene has a rubber backing. This prototype is cut with scissors and so isn't as neatly sliced.
@stephenfarrell8587 there were no issues during my time with it. I didn't use any clips and it never moved at all. Honestly unless I was right on the split I didn't notice it much at all.
@@NightingaleGamesLLC any plans for a single neoprene map, similar to the War Room map addon?
ery well explained
Looking forward to this. What is the timeframe for a turn? What is estimated play time? Bigger is better…never big enough.
This will be a longer game. If everyone knows the rules then you can speed up by doing a lot simultaneously. There are a bunch of phases to a turn and a minimum 6 turns so it will take a while
4-6 hours play time... less than half of the time it takes to play War Room Global (standard ruleset) by our measure.
I have at least 40 different official Axis and Allie’s games. I have War Room with cardboard and neoprene maps.
I won’t get another neoprene map again. They have too many issues.
Is there a chance that a stretch goal will be a cardboard map? I’d hate to miss out on this game.
I don't think so based on what they have said so far. I think the only maps made will be neoprene. What issues have you had? I think the image is slightly better on cardboard, but other than that neoprene wins out for me across the board
@@thegimpygamer neoprene is hard to store, gets wrinkled, often arrives wrinkled, is less defined, and deteriorates.
I never did get my War Room mat to unwrinkle.
@@CBs_Bill_from_Montana from my understanding, the first run of War Room Neoprene mats came folded, which people could never unwrinkle. The later runs (and the one that I got) was rolled up in cardboard tube. Another thing is never store rolled up neoprene mats vertically, over time the weight and pressure of the mat damages the edges. Always store horizontally. As to rolling with side facing in or out, there's still much debate on that.
@@MAstaKFC yeah I got the first one.
I just told myself no more neoprene. Maybe they will have it as a stretch goal or in second edition. It gives me more time for War Room!
Kind of like Diplomacy.
Exactly. Hard pass.
@@FASAfan you are really wanting to be heard in these comments? I heard you at least 3 times. The game is not for everyone. I personally don't like being the hidden traitor in those types of games. But you could also simply not make any allies or friends to begin with... then you are never betrayed. But yes, I get it. Diplomacy was famous for table-flipping, friendship-breaking, agony.
Love the Oprah meme. But why is the neoprene mat split in twain?
To fit in the box better. Trust me it's huge. I could only fit about 60% in all that I filmed. It goes way further up with the Nordic areas, and shows N Africa as well
so risk?
I mean I guess if you call chess, "checkers".
This is just the gamiest game. A luxurious and egotistical amount of rules and bits. Unless you have 3 do or die grodnaeds like how do you even play this?
You are not wrong... but then again... it's actually a lot lighter (rules-wise) than what I would consider a heavy war game.
Don't know if you play Elden Ring, but I am the embodiment of "let me solo her". I will find a way to solo any game😁
Agreed with @NightingaleGamesLLC, I thought it is a medium war game if you compare it with a heavy one or any 18xx
After watching a 45 min video I had to Google this game to actually see the entire map.........
Hence the statement at the start of the video about it being too big for me to get it all in frame😉
Wasn't a complaint yo I was interested enough to Google to see it all
This is 1715?
more 1815
Calvary 😑.... CAVALRY!
you say: "Right after the French Revolution - Napoleon has been taken out."
Sorry - Napoleon was permanently removed in Summer 1815 after Waterloo, fully 26 years after the French Revolution.
Taken out "to dinner" I said almost so quiet that you couldn't hear it😉
France had no voice at the Congress of Vienna.
the premise starts with alternate history... What if the Congress of Vienna failed?
Tallyrand
@@NightingaleGamesLLC Ah interesting. Failed in what way?
@@edwardkenworthy7013 failed as in... all major powers of Europe go back to war. The Congress then reconvenes once again (not until game round 5) but under totally new circumstances in which France is led by former-royalists (not specifically mentioned but feel free to roleplay as Louis XVIII via Second Bourbon Restoration). The time frame is left intentionally vague, but each Game Round could range from seasons to a full year.
How easy is it to expand and increase your money supply 12 doesn't seem like much. You can see the cost of troops and 12 is like one full infantry and not even a Calvary. 12 isn't a lot given the cost of those troops and other things. I also don't see spending on turn order unless you have a lot of extra later in the game. I see parts of this game being things you will find yourself tightly limited and feeling that burn. Talk me out of it Gimpy Gamer. You played that game.
@andykaufman7620 each zone you capture grants you more income each turn. The more you control the more money you make each turn. The limit will be higher on the ships since they are the ones that cost the most.
No, the map does NOT cover everything. It omits the crucial area of southeastern Europe. What about the long-oppressed Serbians and Greeks? Can't they have their post-Vienna revolts as they launched historically? (And experience the customary Great Power ambivalence and betrayal?)
It covers everything the game is about
@@thegimpygamer So the game imagines post-Vienna combat in western Europe that never happened, while omitting lots of combat in southeastern Europe that really did happen. Well, I guess there is a market for the game, but I will choose to pass on it.
@@johnsakelaris7There were other events happening in the world in 1815, but a game played in one evening can’t cover all of it. Also, it must not have been stressed enough in the video… …This game is an alternative history which starts after Napoleon’s exile, so the southeastern European history of which you speak DOES NOT HAPPEN necessarily.
Also, Game designers understand that adding extra area easily accessible to Austria gives a player starting there an unfair advantage. 🙂
This game is - more or less - still existing and called Diplomacy (in Germany from "Parker" in 1983). This KS will pimp it up a little bit ... but not much. Hope they get no licence-problems!
The gameplay details are significantly different than Diplomacy. Diplomacy is set 76 years later in 1901 and has no dice for starters. Not to mention all the other gameplay detail differences. In order for there to be an issue on infringement, we would have to use the word in the title "Diplomacy" and even then it would have to be argued (see the dozens of other board games with the Diplomacy word in their title on BGG)... However, distinct logos are easier to protect with registered trademarks. Copyright can be very confusing, but in this case, there is no issue, or I will eat a hundred hats. So when you say... "more or less"... you can say that apples and pineapples are the same -more or less. They both are sweet and edible. I don't mean to sound testy in my response, but the concern... even if well-meaning... is, frankly, preposterous.
This is exactly why I’m passing. Can’t stand Diplomacy. Ganging up on others then stabbing your “ally” in the back… no thanks.
@FASAfan the rules allow for fixed teams on page 6 therefore, no betrayals or team internal battles if you prefer that?
Stopped at about 19 minutes in. I hate Diplomacy and will be passing on this one.
Diplomacy seems like more of a cool addition to the game if u look at how it would be played 2 players, more or less like a risk style game u could take the diplomacy aspect and either remove it to not worry about it or modify it to ur liking, house rules. Like only allowing certain deals and such with certain time frames. Seems like altogether a risk on steroids in a sense and I don’t like risk for its basic aspects so this game would seem interesting. But just a thought
