This video was so helpful, I'm only on Rug #9 and decided after Rug #10 on my belt I would start charging higher rates. I use alot of material and it takes approximately 3 to 4 days for me to finish a Rug. It started as a hobby, posting videos a pictures got the word out 😂 I'm retired and this hobby definitely doesn't allow me to get bored.
Yeah there's a lot of people who can copy projector pictures... Like Kirby, it's simple, there's 3 colors, a kid could do it. You're definitely doing stuff that requires actual talent and definitely more time, like the face rugs, there's tons of detail, that all takes time. People are willing to pay for better quality stuff. All your stuff should be $200 and up. You gotta get paid for your time or it aint worth doing. Keep up the good work bud!
I recently started making rugs and making football logos and other things , how did you promote? And do you have overwhelming amount of people asking for one?, I want to have other rug makers come together, and help complete everyone’s orders, because I know sometimes other people can get overwhelmed with many orders coming all in at once,
I promoted a lot through social media, I just posted a new video on some tips on how to promote. It would be nice for everyone to come together, but I think the uniqueness of each creator is what makes each rug so special
Thank you for answering, I really understood what you said but i was wondering how do you do the payment. Do the customer pay before you start on the rug or do they pay after?
It depends on the customer. Sometimes people will pay in full beforehand or I will ask for a down payment if they are on a list. Sometimes people pay afterwards though, just be sure that you receive payment before you ship it out.
Hey, I have a question. First of, I love ur job, I have been seeing ur stuff for months, and I just ordered the things that I need so I can start making rugs too, first as a hobby and maybe then who knows as a business, because I see a lot of potential in it, and in my country (Portugal) there isn’t much people doing it, and I see some techniques that make the rugs look better that they aren’t using. But moving on to the question. When people ask u about washing the rugs, what are ur recommendations for them?
Thank you for the support! I do not recommend washing them in a washing machine. I always tell customers that they should care for it as a piece of art, but if a spot does arise, I recommend spot treating it with dish soap diluted with water
thank you for that knowledge, if you need help with some automatization for the quoting process i can do that for free, i am just starting a Rugs bussiness in Mexico and sharing that experience with people makes the work easier.
I agree. In hindsight I should have done this since the beginning. Luckily I've never been skipped out on payment, but there have been delays. I asked for payment after at first because I liked people to see what they were paying for first, but once you build up a rep you can start accepting prior.
@Ld Pressuh I sound like a hater bc someone is charging 21.57 for a 3ft rug? 😹 you sound like an idiot too. You might as well pay your customer to take your rug at that point, but go off. 🤭
@@leilanim7338 Why are YOU PEOPLE still using tufting cloth? Use recycled burlap instead. That way you can charge low prices and make your customers happy. They will all say, "Wow! What a bargain!"

I hope you've made even more since this comment! It's always good to adjust your pricing as you go on and get better
I make rugs also, and this video helped out so much!!! I’m barely starting commissions so I’m happy I watched this! Thank you!!

Glad I could help!
It's the hooded sweatshirt for me. Makes you look so mysterious an artistic! Love it. Great Video
Das sieht bescheuert aus! Ich kann nicht nachvollziehen was die Kids daran finden!
Thank you so much for this! I've been struggling trying to figure out pricing for my rugs
Happy to help!

is it illegal to use google images or do you make your own images and drawings?
Great video! Are you able to show the backing method you use? I believe you mentioned it one of your recent vids
Yes you can see it in some of my previous videos, I use premium felt from my local craft store
Ok I’ll check. So you recommended not doing the waterfall fold over? And just curing the entire fabric off the frame?

@@dwrugs thank you for answering! Your rugs are really nice
Yo bro could I ask you what scissors you use to detail your rugs?
My question is, how do you go about payment? Charge 50% as down payment or collect everything and then you work?
I used to ask for payment after the fact, but now I am starting to ask for either 10% or full payment up front
where do u get ur images so you avoid copyright infringement???
Usually people do this by not using the actual names of the characters, etc

What weight is the yarn you use?
What’s the name of your glasses and where did you get them from?
They were just some blue light glasses off of Amazon
Equipment maintenance and studio space should also be considered
Absolutely

I started 2 weeks ago..and have been asked by multiple people now..i dint know what base price to start or how to price. Any ideas?
Hoodie uh....?
I would ask for a deposit up front. If you can get a full deposit, all the better.

Can't go wrong with sports and Anime
cost X 2.5
how much should i charge for a 3ft by 3ft or 2ft by 2ft rug?
3ft x 3ft = $21.57
2ft x 2ft = $14.89
Glad I could help. 👍
@@Liu-Kang-Xi .... Why are your numbers SO low? Do you actually make rugs? That price doesn't even make up for the tufting cloth used for the rug.

I heard they’re busting people on Copyright images
Do people really buy rugs from the Unabomber?
Hahaha
