    Enjoyed the video! Over the last 10 years I played the Kirklands - the OG then went to vice pro plus and maxfli tours. Went to pro v1s since I get a few dozen as gifts and took advantage of the 3 for 2 deal during the masters this past year. Prefer the feel of the proV1s for sure but distance and spin wise I think the maxfli tours and vice balls are comparable and a better value. Next year I’ll probably go back to the Vice Pro plus or maxfli tours. Can’t shake the feeling I’m overpaying for balls with the pro Vs.

      When I first started five years ago, I bought 3 5 gallon buckets of balls from a guy that lives just off a golf course until I consistently started shooting in the 90s. Then I started playing Kirkland until consistently breaking 90 and then I switched to Vice pro plus. I love that ball like mentioned in the video sounds a little firm, but all the numbers are amazing. But I’ve recently been playing ProV1X 5a mint reloads for about $30 a dozen and it might be placebo, but I do think they feel a little bit better however, the performance otherwise is the exact same. Though it’s still more expensive than the $27 dozen when Vice runs their special, something about not paying the full $60 feels like you’re getting a better deal lol.

    Quay, found you after hitting next to you at the range once. The biggest key to improving your game is to play the same ball consistently so you are on the right track picking a ball that makes you want to keep playing and playing that ball consistently. Premium balls are not hype or marketing but they are pricey so I see the reason to step back from them. Distance balls last a long time but don’t check up on shorter shots like a premium ball is the biggest difference I see. If you go back and forth from urethane premium balls and ionomer surlyn cover balls then chipping around the green is drastically different. Keep it up and have a good time.

    • @quaypotts
      @quaypotts  4 месяца назад

      Oh dope! Were we at Hacienda Range?
      And I get what you’re saying. But in terms of all the premium balls that are out there.. is there really a huge difference from a TP5 and a ProV?
      Genuinely curious. People do tell me that proVs are better around the greens but they can never actually explain why that is . I feel like they just buy into the hype of what people tell them. Especially because the people that tell me this aren’t the best golfers .. so that’s why I say it’s all marketing.
      When you’re pro level status I can see how those little details can make a huge difference but on the other hand I feel that pros are skilled enough to play any ball and control it the way the want.

    • @8466849
      @8466849 4 месяца назад

      @@quaypotts the prov vs the tp5 and chrome and Bridgestone tour balls really is splitting hairs but compared to the budget balls is where you really see the difference. I would say on the cheap end you see basically two categories: distance or soft where the distance is a harder ball and the soft is more squishy for feel. If I play a cheap ball then I lean towards the softer ball because it gives a tiny bit more backspin on chip shots but nothing like a tour ball. The titleist trusoft is an example. The taylormade tour response is the best mid tier ball on the market that gives you urethane cover at a cheaper price. The titleist pro v1 left dash and the AVX balls are unicorns for low spin if you want something truly unique. My longes drives are with the AVX and TP5x balls but the AVX gives up a tiny bit of green side spin. Anyways, like I said, play the same ball for a couple months at a time to get the feel and compare it to another ball starting with 100yds and closer. You score closer to the hole so getting the ball to end up where you want and react the way you want are really important. A little click off the putter isn’t a big deal so don’t go off that. And when all is said and done: have fun.

Looks like native oaks earlier in the video, water all along the left on that hole brings back some traumatic memories haha. Really great quality lighting and video work here.
    The only thing for me that matters in a ball is a urethane coating, if its urethane Im into it, otherwise I pass. I'm a 20 handicap(i only get to play maybe twice a month). I'm on my 4th ball selection, Kirkland, chrome soft, Callaway ERC and now Chrome tour x. My swing speed had increased each time and the ball would literally drop off distance for the spin i created. I'm not consistent enough to manipulate a draw or fade on demand.
