As an architect I strongly recommend a second means of egress...in other words: a back door!

I like the chrome wire shelves on WHEELS so I can roll stuff to the kiln. I like my pegboard over my sink so I can hang up tools to dry. Think about where your extruder goes too-I didn’t hear you mention that. Love the space and your plans so far! Also a spot for your grinder so it’s always ready to go when you need it. Space for storing shipping materials. Play area for Ryder where he doesn’t breathe clay dust?

Looks great! Our studio is currently our kitchen, living room, dining room and part of our entryway hall. And our kiln is in the garage.

Hi! I'm new to your videos Jon and have loved every minute of them you make them so fun to watch. I would like to make a suggestion or two for your new studio you might want to think about putting a second utility sink in over by the pottery throwing area and something that would be essential and save you a quite a few steps would be a good sized ware cart that you can roll from Station to Station based on whatever stage you're at in the production of your pottery. Love all the ideas!

Your new studio sounds wonderful! Best of luck with the building of it. I can't wait to see it! I also do pottery and would love to create a studio of my own someday, but for now im thankful for what i have. I bought my first kiln this summer and am having a blast creating whatever my heart desires. 😁

Love the high ceilings in the new studio! And kiln room!!! Awesome!!! I work in an old barn and have thought of moving my kiln to the back section...it would mean clearing out all the old junk and extending the 50watt wiring...someday...

Jon, you are very lucky, you will have a beautiful workspace. I know what it's like to pot in a tiny cellar space with no natural light. I look forward to seeing the progress. Thank you for sharing. Regards, June

You won't know yourself in that spacious new studio with all that natural light! 🤩 I bet it will rub off on your pottery and work created there will be extra special! Good luck with the build of it.... we'll be waiting for updates! 😊

Really neat looking space you've design! The work flow will make more sense and give you what you need to keep up with a 2nd kiln running. Another person suggested a backdoor and I agree you should consider one. Safety n whatnot. I think a 2nd wheel is a good idea too! You can rent out a wheel for a day or several hours if you're not using it (to help cover the cost of it). You could also rent out kiln space to potters in the area from time to time.

Another fab video. Your new studio is going to be amazing and I love he fact you are having a separate kiln room. I had my studio built( I am a beginner) in August and its great but my kiln is in the same room. I haven't fired it yet but know I wont be able to be in there when its on. I may be looking at an extension eventually :-)
