    In This Episode
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wescott House The Wescott House in Springfield, Ohio, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1906 for one of the prominent families in the area. Although the house has gone through many changes over time, it has been restored using original drawings from when the house was built.
Architectural historian Jeff Darbee tours the house with executive director, Marta Wojcik, to talk about the restoration.
Hopewell Earthworks World Heritage Site Nomination
For over a decade, the Ohio History Connection and the National Park Service’s Hopewell Culture National Historical Park have worked with Tribal nations and stakeholders from across Ohio and the U.S. to seek World Heritage Inscription for eight Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks sites.
On September 19, 2023, the sites were officially inscribed by UNESCO, making them the 25th World Heritage site in the U.S. and the first ever in Ohio. Explore the sites significance to the archaeological community, along with the indigenous tribes that once lived in Ohio.

Springfield is often pooh poohed. The Wescott Home is a jewel!
I worked with a young man in the mid-late 1980s who claimed his mother owned the home. He spoke of the home, having been split into four apartments and needed repairs.
We (the area residents) KNEW the home was a Frank Lloyd Wright design BUT the FLW conservancy denied its exitstance far several years. It took concerted effort to prove the home is indeed one of his designs.
It has been a wonder to watch the area around the home change to reflect its history! The home helps anchor that particular historic district. Please come and visit. You won't be disappointed.
