Loved this video! I'm a plant link player and the format changed my perspective on the game. Cards like Irmistil The Cosmic Tree are now my favourite boss monster alongside cards like Aromaseraphy and Aromage Jasmine. Free draws and searches every turn.
I genuinely think this is the next big development in yugioh. I know people will/do have concerns about it being 4 players, no banlist, etc. but dude when you actually get to sit down and play it its a blast. And the deckbuilding aspect of it is so incredibly fun and different from 1v1. Singleton makes each game feel more different and is more thematic in a lot of ways. Was hype to see the community post from Paul the other day, only goes up from here!
this vid has been eye-opening in so many ways, like ive played machine combo piles in domain and i always just went balls to the wall going through half my deck making big hard to out boards, and while i do agree thats a recipe for disaster, it made me realize i Do like playing the archvillainess, i Do like challenging myself into making decks that can withstand hits from 3 different adversaries (or try to anyway), i love to see my opponents uniting against me, cooperating and coming up with strategies, it's so cool! thank you for the illuminating guide!
5:11 I would also like to add a another case: (reusable) extenders. Splash Mage and Chaos Sorcerer, for example. (Although chaos is also a bit of wide domain).
This video definitely needed a brief overview of the basic rules and differences from Advanced. I know theres a seperate how to play video, but just a sentence leading you to that at least would be helpful.
My favorite deck I've made for Domain is a Shark Deck. I haven't gotten to play it, because it uses a bunch of the unreleased-as-of-now support cards upcoming, but it is gonna be SO fun when they're available from my proxy playtests...
After seeing how much the long game matters, I might start putting more defensive cards. Since my DM is Utopia, I can run cards like Honest and Electromagnetic Turtle, although I've been staying away from them because they take up potential space for recursion or combo. I might even consider adding in Branded Regained, even though my deck doesn't focus on banishing a lot, just because it can happen in a 4-player game. What I really enjoy about this format is that there is so much to take into account, that you can really experiment with hundreds of different cards (or thousands depending on how wide your domain expands). Great video! I love learning about this format and I would love to play it again! I remember when I played it with my friends and my opponent activating Fairy Box was hilarious. I also played my plant deck and Card of Safe Return in that deck is RIDICULOUS especially since you get Rikka Petal every opponent’s end phase and Cucumber Horse every battle phase, meaning you draw so many cards every rotation.

Appropriate is the single best and worst card in Domain. A mandatory draw 2 when an opponent draws outside of their draw. They loop with the opponent's card until one has decked out. But the other person will most likely win.
I still need to actually get all the cards I need for my Domain deck, because I know it's going to be goofy but fun, which is how I tend to play Commander.
I've had a game against Tenpai. They got the first battle phase and everyone was dead. Also Numeron Network exists so games can end quickly. I've played multiple games and none made it to turn 8+
yugioh is tricky compared to mtg. with mtg, you can very effectively lock down the other 3 players because those players are limited not just by hand advantage but by mana. in yugioh you have to be able to hold down what amounts to infinite mana against 3 people at once
I wish I could get into this format, but the hard 1 copy limits brick so many decks I'd like to brew. Suships dead, Ra's disciple dead, Crashbugs dead, Poker Knights dead, chain burn dead, deck masters that require an activated effect to summon them (no effect activations in the command zone), any archetype that requires x3 of a namesake card to function. it's just all too restrictive to be enjoyable
@fencingfireferret1188 i don't have experience with some of these but chain burn is far from dead and the poker knights are actually an awesome returnable engine for light/warrior decks.
I think there needs to be list of monsters that you cannot choose to be your Deck Master. For example, floodgate monsters like DHERO Plasma or Masked HERO Dark Law or Vanity’s Fiend (that prevent all players from Special Summoning forever bc they’ll never summon it out)
I have played many games, I can assure you that those deckmasters aren't a huge deal. One only has a 25% chance to go first, so if they do somehow manage to set up some sort of crazy floodgate board, it's not consistently being that oppressive. And most of the time, three people can break it. I have yet to see a player start turn one, and run the entire game until they win. But pre-game and post-game talks can also be huge to making sure everyone's expectation of "fun" can be met!

@@andrewrowland1989 Ohhh i see the confusion here. Domain doesn't use Konami's deckmaster rules. In Domain, all deckmasters count as not on the field, and their effects arent live until they hit the field. So something like Vanity's Fiend just sits in the deckmaster zone until you tribute summon it. Only then would its floodgate effect be active.
I wanted to build a Goofy ahh Domain deck with the Funniest cards, that at the same time let's me keep playing / drawing to extend the Tomfoolery; any cards you guys would adviseme to play?
Cyber Jar/ Fiber Jar/ Morphing Jar are all really crazy/funny decks. Draco has a hilarious Two-for-One Team deck in the discord. Those are the first things that come to mind
@@DICEBOY22 Domain is not balanced in 1v1 in my opinion. I haven’t seen anyone go out of their way to play 1v1, it’s always 4 player pods people ask to play.
@@Drago651 the funny thing is, you can know if you’re in the clear or not, depending if their deckmaster has access to EARTH or insect monsters. I’ve hardly seen Maxx C tbh. I did see it resolve once, and the guy said “fine, set two and pass” and we all left him alone for the turn out of respect lol
