I've always loved motley Crue, especially their first two albums! This Chicago classic cover tune is interesting to say the least! I'm both a crue and Chicago fan, I'd never expect motley Crue to do this cover just as I'd never expect Chicago to do a motley Crue cover song! Imagine Peter cetera singing shout at the devil! 🌞
Great video. Great photo history. I like this version better than the orginal now. However, the guitar playing on the original version was totally phenomenal back when the Chicago record was unleashed. I am 55 and started playing the Beatles at age 10. Then I graduated to the first live Kiss album. Never dreamed the Crue would have did this cover. Thanks for sharing this on RUclips. Great job. Wow!
It’s good nan. They respected the tune and put their own stamp on it. The guitar and keyboards really did justice to the horns from the original that play so well back and forth with the vocals.
I was a fan back in 1984. First hard rock show. I have grown to HATE Vince Niel as a human but can still appreciate the music. I found this cover to be refreshing and well done. I wish they would explore this side of their musicality more.
Im big fan of Crue and Chicago and they nailed it (Right its not Crue but it Vince and hes the voice behind Crue.....well use to be a long long time ago)
holly shit! I´ve never heard this version! it´s good to listen a hard rock band like Motley Crue covering one of the best Jazz/Rock fussion songs ever! Does it appears in a Crue album?
Yeah, this cover rocks. However if you want to hear a great cover of WSOP, check out Keith Emerson, et al. in this: ruclips.net/video/dwws-ZF-O_g/видео.html
Better than the original??? You've GOT to be kidding! No one can touch Terry Kath's amazing solo! Not saying it's bad but not even close to the original! Kudos to the Crue!
Great band and I do really like the solo but hearing it played this way makes you really appreciate just how great Terry Kath was. Mick is getting about 75% of it in there and it still sounds great.
it's a shockingly honest, and earnest and fairly accurate cover of a classic. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it's really pretty well done for a 4 or 5 piece band. I honestly thought they'd butcher it, but it feels like a legit cover and does the original pretty well. I'd have been pretty psyched to hear them bust this out in a concert, not expecting it
This isn't Crue to anyone who cares, it'd Vince's band. I like it of coarse it's not as good as Chicago but they also didn't have the production money Chicago had when they recorded it and it's not really suited to Vince's voice, still I don't hate it, the guitar is actually really good.
Ya know, I thought the drums were a bit lackluster too... At first. A closer listen revealed that the drummer did a fantastic job. It just didn't come out in the mix well. Note the more free-form accent timing in the bridges: quite creative and building in complexity as the song progresses. Pretty good job if you ask me. The problem, I think, is that they could have brought the drums out a little. They are a bit too low in volume could have had more punch with a bit higher dry/wet compression ratio. For example on the first listen, I thought there were some really obvious places for a hard crash accent that were missed. Guess what? They're in there. Listen for the crashes at 1:04, 1:55 and 3:50. They're there, just too far down in the mix. Imho, a remastered version could sound a *lot* better. That said, I think just about everything else is just about right. Tbh, I like this version a whole lot more than I thought I would. Others have said in the comments that it's better than the original. Personally, I can't go that far but YMMV. I can say that this is what covering a song should sound like. Plenty of homage to the original, not pretending to be the original and, oh yeah, Rocking The House.
Read the hype before listening to it but not sure most of these comment were written by Chicago fans that tuned in to hear an alternate version of a great song. From a crue fans stand point, maybe, but from where I see it, this leaves something to be desired. I guess the lack of horns may have done me in... lol
What makes Terry's solo perfection? Hendrix told him he was better? There is no such thing as perfection in music, it's a diverse world; this solo is great and he keeps Terry's playing style pretty well. Keith Howland also did his own take for the solo, and although it's different, it's great. If a musician wants to do their own thing, they can.
You really should give credit LakesideRocker66 to where its due, that is to Vince Neil, Brent Woods, Robbie Crane & Vikki Foxx and NOT Motley Crue you would agree ? The title you provided has nothing to do with Motley Crue at all.
Any time a person says a cover is better than a classic original.....I just have to shake my head. I humbly DiSAGREE. This isn't bad.....but not better either.
NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. just not soft rock sounding Guitar isnt as good and drums Vocals dont sound bad.. my 3 cents i MEAN HELL CHICAGO IS WHAT A 20 PIECE BAND.. ALL THOSE LAYERS OF BACK UP VOCALS GUITARS HORNS ETC LOL
Love the original Chicago version (check out the live 1970 Tanglewood performance), but this is perfectly OK. If ya don't got horns, there's only so much you can do.
Covers aren't always intended to sound exactly like the original. Bands or artists can do 1 of 3 things: do it exactly as it was written, put their own spin on it or figure out a way to meld both methods. I think this is a good representation of putting the third way to use.
No way in hell is this better than the original. The vocals suck, the drums are just typical garage band bashing. Drummer almost loses time every time he comes out of the chorus, except the second one where he just completely stops (probably because he's too tired). The only decent part is the guitar solo.
Love this, I knew Terry Kath and I can tell you he would have thought this was cool. TY
This is Vince solo band not MC.
Been a Crue fan for 30 years and had no idea they covered this song....holy shit is that awesome.
This is not Motley Crue, it's Vince neil solo material from the album 'Carved in stone'
Mmmm, std’s and hepatitis, good ol Motley Crue.
I am older Gen X'er and "25 or 6 to 4" is my favorite song of all time. I enjoy this cover. Still used to the horns.
This is a great cover of this song. Solo is great and Vince Neil had those vocals under control
God DAMN, this cover is TIGHT. Love it.
Watch your mouth!!
So glad I stumbled on this gem - perfect 👍💯

It's from Vince Neil's solo album Carved in Stone... it's on the Japanese version of the album
Sounds vaguely "power rangers-y"
The 80s
It's Chicago,
Probably their most famous song. This is Vince but not Motley Crue.
Somehow that makes even better than before read comment haha
It's a billion times better than power rangers, trust me😉
imitation is the greatest compliment it's not bad at all
It’s good nan. They respected the tune and put their own stamp on it. The guitar and keyboards really did justice to the horns from the original that play so well back and forth with the vocals.

I don't know about "better than the original," but it is a good interpretation.
better the the original? no chance. but it is pretty good and surprisingly loyal to chicago's classic.
It’s a tribute their heroes in their own genre. I think it’s pretty cool and I appreciate both.
Jamie Reno kinda cool how the guitar covered the horn parts.
Friggen kidden me.... So Sick...... Love my Chicago... Props.....
Jesus Christ Superstore this version of Chicago song rocks!!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I never knew this and I am a huge Chicago fan this is insane
Im big fan of Crue and Chicago and they nailed it (Right its not Crue but it Vince and hes the voice behind Crue.....well use to be a long long time ago)
Two of a favorite bands!
This is impressive, especially the guitar doing the horns' section.
Mr Mars…. Brilliant. Fanfare for the common Man. Of course he could play that. Stewart C.
The real band. Not Motley Crue:
Vince Neil - lead vocals
Brent Woods - guitar
Robbie Crane - bass guitar
Vikki Foxx - drums
Yeah... I was gonna say, that did not sound like Mick Mars playing.
Fantastic job wish he would of played this back in the day more when Vince did his solo stuff
This is WAY better than Chicago's 1986 version. The original rules all though.
This is fantastic
This is not Motley Crue. It's a Vince Neil solo track.
THE BEST IS CHICAGO
THIS IS VERY GOOD ALSO
holly shit! I´ve never heard this version! it´s good to listen a hard rock band like Motley Crue covering one of the best Jazz/Rock fussion songs ever!
Does it appears in a Crue album?
It's a solo track from Vince. I think it appears in his album "carved in stone"
Razor Keen Thanks for the info dude.....
I love this song! And now, its even better!
Hell yeah.
Great cover. Also check out Sammy Hagar cover of whiter shade of pale with Neal Schon. Totally rocks!
I will check that out, yes, love Sammy and love that song.
Yeah, this cover rocks. However if you want to hear a great cover of WSOP, check out Keith Emerson, et al. in this: ruclips.net/video/dwws-ZF-O_g/видео.html
I agree, Jamie. Pretty darned good. I am always open to a good cover of a Chi song. I'd buy this one. And I've never been a fan of Motley Crue....
A well done cover.
Uuuuu yea 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Surprisingly good cover, especially considering they only have three instrumentalists.
Better than the original??? You've GOT to be kidding! No one can touch Terry Kath's amazing solo! Not saying it's bad but not even close to the original! Kudos to the Crue!
just a tribute right? nobody with half a brain would think Vince did a better job!
Not sure if this is legit Crue, but it’s awesome regardless!
This tune ROCKS!!!!!
Cool cover! It's wah-wah for the guitar, not slide.
Also, I'm not sure you know what "slide guitar" is.
Slide? No. Wah pedal and some other pedal? Yes.
BRILLIANT!!!
Great lead guitar. Well done...........................
Impressive !!!
This is bad ass as hell, jesus christ
Hell yeah. And dammit, not on Spotify.
This wasn't motley it was from vinces solo album I think exposed was a b side
But I must say mick mars is one of my favorite guitar player. I live in Indiana and there has been some great musicians came Indiana
Terry Kath`s a guitar God according to Jimi Hendrix. At least Vince tried. Nice attempt. There was only one TK.
Terry Kath didn't do lead vocals on this. Peter Cetera did.
Mick Mars is a Legend 🙌.... And brings that vibe to Classics is Unsurpassed.... 🤙.... Props Mick....👊👊👊...
Its not Mars on this song
Great band and I do really like the solo but hearing it played this way makes you really appreciate just how great Terry Kath was. Mick is getting about 75% of it in there and it still sounds great.
Good cover. No way is it better than the original...
I like to get a copy of this song. They should release this
Fuckin' Aces, boys!
So cool
Excelente cover
Amazing job
I can't stand Motley Crue, but this is a fantastic cover. 🙂
This is EPIC..
Not even the crue only Vince I think Terry would enjoyed it
1:24 is the best face ive ever seen
The CRUE killed it!!!
I had no idea!! 👍🏻
I think this sounds fucking awesome!

Fun version. The drummer is a little limited compared to the original, but gets the job done.
Ya know, I thought the drums were a bit lackluster too... At first. A closer listen revealed that the drummer did a fantastic job. It just didn't come out in the mix well. Decent cover. Better than the original? Maybe in some universe, but not this one.
Heavy
pretty sure this isn't Motley. Vince, Carved in Stone bonus track?
Mick Mars for president
not bad for these guys! its not chicago, but its still cool!
Very tasty
Cool cover. Not sure if he would remember the lyrics if they did it in concert though...
This is fucking killer
Read the hype before listening to it but not sure most of these comment were written by Chicago fans that tuned in to hear an alternate version of a great song. From a crue fans stand point, maybe, but from where I see it, this leaves something to be desired. I guess the lack of horns may have done me in... lol
Without the horns the song is left a little hollow. The montage of Motley Crue was cool.
Your space where your brain should be is hollow.
This is great. I never liked the brass in Chicago's version. The song is better without it.
Sorry, the solo doesn't even come near to the perfection that Terry Kath plays in the original...some songs should just be left alone,...
myklj999. Ill be sure to tell the music world to never EVER cover this song. No matter how much they love it
What makes Terry's solo perfection? Hendrix told him he was better? 👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍😂

lead guitar-Steve Stevens ?
Krzysztof Kolanek that's what I was wondering too. since he was Vince's guitar player
It was somewhat okay until he opened his mouth. Can't even compare to Terry Kath...
Dan Rodecap
Terry Cath didnt sing lead
I agree. The slide guitar horns are a nice party trick, the vocals are what you find vomited all around the toilet after the party's over.
Correct that would be Peter Cetera
I like Intruder's better
It's the same when you type.....
Nice rendition...I guess. Nothing like the original or other covers I've heard..
This is okay but not even close to the original.
I beg to differ in a way that this is far from the original, but this is pretty good.
Is it trying to be? They're not trying to perform the original, they're doing their own take of the song.
Any time a person says a cover is better than a classic original.....I just have to shake my head. I humbly DiSAGREE. This isn't bad.....but not better either.
wow sorry but this is f'n scary ranks up there with ozzy doing staying alive...
Slide Guitar? Ah... Nope! Great version though.
1000 times better than the crappy 1986 reboot by chicago themselves
Still not as good as the original though
Sorry not even close to the original.
Love the original Chicago version (check out the live 1970 Tanglewood performance), but this is perfectly OK. If ya don't got horns, there's only so much you can do.

Great job but Mick is no Terry Kath .
It's Steve Steven not Mars
Vince Neil solo Carved in Stone NOT CRUE wow guys...lol not even close to Mick's style.
Motley Crue has absolutely nothing to do with this.
Wow. They actually got better as musicians! Had to do a cover but they pulled it off! Mostly Crap!
Sorry. This is no longer the greatest cover of 25 or 6 to 4. Leonid and Friends have that title now.
Great cover, but not better than the original... negative!
this NOT Motley Crue!!!
No way in hell is this better than the original. The vocals suck, the drums are just typical garage band bashing. Drummer almost loses time every time he comes out of the chorus, except the second one where he just completely stops (probably because he's too tired). The only decent part is the guitar solo.
exactly
How many albums have you sold?
Auto tune those vocals much?
Not bad musicians but imbéciles in life 🤦♂️
They dont live with me and are not my neighbors so who cares..
