To seekers of truth..
searching for "I" but we are always I... and if a person is so insulting in the way they speak down to students (as Gjurdieff is in his first statement here to the student) then why even look to them for answers? .. look within.. YOU Know you and what you need better than any "teacher" or "guru" can know you
we don't need search or prepare for us to be us, we ARE us in every moment
just think of what you would like to do in life and do that, not what other people say we should be
and when a teacher says do not philosophise only give me service they are basically being like cult leaders who do not want us to be "I" , us, ourselves, they want us to doubt ourselves and look up to them and never believe ourselves and only do what they tell us to. they tell us to have no ego but they ARE Ego demanding slaves of us the student
be free, be you, listen to your own heart not gurus or philosophers who claim philosophy does not interest them in a book they wrote OF Philosophy.. that type of teaching is so warped
if we feel lost, we trust people who sound confident when they speak answers
listen to your own heart.. being YOU is NOT a bad thing.. be YOU!! And don't let others tell you you should not.. THEY Are far from "perfect"and can NEVER Know what you truly need... only you can know what you are best to do in life.. so listen to yourself

Thank you for you comment , Rolland. Appreciated and respected. Do you know what a "master" is ? It is someone who has attained a permanent "I" and has been through great suffering and helps and assists others to do the same. I , e , to ascend the ray of creation towards the absolute. The very last thing Gurdjieff was was a Guru. And there is nothing cultish whatsoever about his work. In fact , the polar opposite. Gurdjieff shunned publicity. As do a number of important Gurdjieff groups today. The "service" you refer to is to the exercise and the attention required to do it , not to the one sharing the exercise. Gurdjieff joked a lot with people , as he does in his writings. Although 99.9% don't see the joke cause they are asleep and stupified , over laden with useless thoughts and notions and daydreams of their I-M-A-G-I-N-A-R-Y selves. Although you'll be pleased to hear that I didn't read out the full chapter , as he ramps it up by saying (further into the meeting) " Dr. Ab : Ah , what good is it to have slaves ?
Gurdjieff : for life ; if you haven't any slaves , you are the slave of someone else.
Dr. Ab : Ah , cannot everyone simply be equal ?
Gurdjieff: Never ! How is that possible ?
Dr. Ab : but shouldn't one give up using egotistically one's power over others ?
Gurdjieff : today you do it unconsciously ; try to do it consciously , then it will be good , both for them and for you. There is no other justice."
