remember when using the lift , lift the vehicle about a foot off the ground and give it a shake test from the rear to make sure its not gonna tip forward
Ok, so as someone that installs lift on a regular basis I always use 5/8 anchors and torque them to 150 ft pounds in 6 inches of concrete. I also use ATF for fluid not hydraulic oil. The cables are not load bearing they are only there to make it go up evenly. When raising the lift with no load you should be able to hear the locks click at the same time. Make sure you adjust the cables accordingly. Always rest the weight on to the locks. Just don't want to be safe. Also make sure you get a annual inspection and make sure there is a gold sticker making sure it is certified. Most cheap lifts don't meet building codes and if there happens to be a failure insurance won't cover it and they home owner can be charged with manslaughter if someone is to die. Do it the right way and Goodluck. Love watching you guys!
Not sure who told you to use transmission fluid instead of hydraulic fluid for car lifts, but that's wrong. You have to check what the manufacturer recommends because it could void the warranty if it's not the proper grade.
I have that same lift, about 2 years now and no problems. Fabricated a beam (used I beam) that runs on top connecting the two beams and that eliminated all the flex. Also put the harbor freight gantry on the I beam and that made pulling engines out easy!
I always took it down onto the latches so if hydralics were to fail its sitting on the latches and wont fall. Good luck guys cant wait for the next build definatly gonna be easier
I prefer the lifts with the cross bar at the top, for 2 reasons, Stability, and ease of working on the floor with no obstacles. Get you a magnetic laser level and stick it on the post to see if it the post moves under a lifting procedure. The laser dot on the ceiling should stay in place! Also, get your locks calibrated so they lock together on the way up, the clanking sound. That way when your rest the cars weight back down on the locks, it will be level and stable!. You will definitely need lights under the car to see, but they will be in your eyes if they are low on the wall. Just get some roll around floor lights. ;) Had my 2 post lift for a couple years now. Had it professionally installed cause I am old. :) Best investment I have done in a long long time!
Nifty, I sure wish I had one of those ! A place to install one is my only problem. I'd run a bar(square tube steel) across the top anyway, regardless of anchor depth/strength. Its just the basic physics of how it would fail. The height is whatever the height of the posts are so, there is virtually NO benefit whatsoever to that design, aside from saving a few feet of hose & cable etc. Leave it to China to leverage that fact. 🤪Of course there is very little to do if any part of the arms were to ever fail, aside from a few backup screw jacks, like you mentioned. But they'd probably have to be custom AF just to be high enough & would only ever be in the way.
The thickness of the concrete is not the only criteria to determine it's strength for a particular application. Hope you fellas don't get injured or worst from this installation... Cheers from OZ
Looks good. I'm a tad jelly on the lift. You could always cut a hole in the back of one of your work bench units to access the switch to place the work bench exactly where you want it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again for actually sharing the numbers on what you spent and sold it for, no one else does that. Also you guys are braver than me for getting under that lift immediately after that sketchy install lol I’ve worked under some really sketchy lifts but idk if they’ve ever been that bad. Did you say how much the lift cost in a previous video? I’m gonna finally get one at home in the new pole barn garage I’m getting put up so I don’t have to go to work to fix my stuff anymore
Got a dedicated follow up video? I see you currently still use the lift but a video dedicated to issues you've had? Maintenance you've done? Additions or modifications?
Wakes us in the morning and the Mini is smooshed!!! I’d guarantee you get more followers just so they can see the video of the lift breaking!! Be safe guys!!!
I would feel a lot better if there was a brace on top connecting the 2 post together. That way it should not collapse inward. Space it up to the ceiling so you do lose height?
Dustin McDaniel, I was cringing when I seen that ! They need to pull those out and get the correct bit along with new larger anchors. I bet if they put an impact on those nuts, those bolts would pull right up. 😳
Your going to wonder how you ever get by without one now. Only upgrades I did were anchors, and the screwjacks. A must have is a rolling oil change container and flat tool chart with adjustable height up to 5'. Congrats!
Hey guys I’m actually in the same boat with the bent cross member how did you guys replace that did you do an entire front end replacement or just the crossmember
hey just fyi.... some of those lifts require like a 2-3' thick pad or some kind of structural reinforcement. i imagine the concrete slab in the garage is rebar reinforced, but ya never know....dont need that shit falling in.
And the concrete guys were probably full of beans. No one would poor a 1 inch thick floor and cut relief joints in it. Besides when you drill the holes, go down until you're through the pad. Probably about 4 or 5 inches. At any rate, the floor is fine for what you're doing.
Having used lifts for years, I’ve never seen a left flex like that. Clearly it’s cheap. The base plate looks small and thin to what I’m used to seeing. Garage concrete I wouldn’t trust. Generally only around 4” and may not be the strong concrete you need. I’ve seen it done where people cut out a large area where they plan to put their lift, dig down deeper, reinforce and use strong Cement. It is not a lift I would trust with my life.
It’s nice to know we are not the only ones who the saying the famous last words of a redneck are: “Hey watch this” apply to. You guys would fit right in here in ol’ Cantuk!
Lol I’ll give you $12 for that Grand Prix I used to have one it wasn’t the best car but I regret selling it just because of the memories of taking my daughter home for the first time and a lot of other good memories in it we bought it with 87,000 miles and sold it around 3-4 years later with 274,000 miles.
That is really weird that there’s no cc’s I’ve never seen a yt video without the option for cc’s. I think all content creators need to think about their fans that might be hearing impaired. All the years of putting thousands of vehicles on lifts....always after u pull over the cable cover....u should turn and look and line up ur position in the seat so u look right at the post......to me but on video things look different....could of brought the front pads up a hair...and make sure that lift seam is on the pad in the center....I like dealership pads better....they have groves in them to catch that seam. If you’re worried about the lift collapsing in on it’s self you could always extend the posts up into the attic and run an I beam across the top

Need a bigger garage pretty soon

Did lance get hit by a weed eater. I mean look at that face
I saw a temu ad for this lift and wanted to see if it was any good
So far so good!
I've been looking for a good body shop. Might just check them out. Looks like they do good work
Really enjoy watching your videos keep them coming
Just need a square cut for the cab of a truck to go up into the ceiling.
Maybe Lance can open his own engineering company. Go around the US from auto shop to auto shop shoulder checking each lift 😆😆😎👍
