I share the same criticism you have about Part 2. Overall, The Director's Cuts are old fashion cinema at its finest. Classic movie making. I noticed that the scores of the Director's Cut's are different than the PG13 cuts as well. I enjoyed all four movies, but the Director's Cut's are complete movies.
Agree 100% and well put. The Director's Cuts are complete packages that tie every loose end left from the OG cuts! Definitely wish Nemesis went out with a bigger blaze of glory, though I understand the emotional narrative they had with her.
You're one of the few fans on RUclips that can I trust with reviewing Zack Snyder's movies. Great review! It's gonna be interesting now to see first-time viewers watch the Director's cuts and whether they see the rich mythology Zack brings to the table or go along with the trend of haters online and piggie-back on trash reviews. In the long-term I think these movies will scratch the itch for nerds to have "Star Wars made for adults" not just because of violence and sex, but also for rich mythology and intelligent philosophy interweaving religion, politics & psychology like Zack has done elsewhere such as Watchmen and BvS. Zack has taken everything he's learned from his previous films and injecting it all into Rebel Moon, and we get the benefit from it as fans.
I'm 100% with you! The adult nature of these films comes from the layers mythology that are rooted in such a human place. I've never gotten this level of introspection from a space opera and i was fully engaged in it!

I felt the same way about Nemesis. I wish she did more in the last battle scene because she had one of my favorite scenes on Chapter 1 when she fought the spider creature. I loved both chapters and hope they can continue to expand the universe.
Man! Imagine if she had a tracking sequence fight like Nobel in the trenches??!! I would've loved that but overall, both movies still bang!
You don't need a "directors cut" when you have complete creative control of a project.
In the past it has happened because of various types of interference or whatever... this time it's happening because we have reached the end of the road for Snyder's 1-dimensional directing skills... and he has made this his M.O. as a gimmick

Fifth Element is a banger, and these DC's are bangers as well. Loved every second of it. Everything was improved and elevated. Now I just want more. And with the teeth being knocked out: Nobel's staff is constantly being used to knockout people's teeth, so when his teeth get knockout by his own staff, it makes it more satisfying. Karma at its finest, lol.

I've only watched Part 1 of the Director's Cuts and I also think it was so much better.
People keep calling it Trash, like yo, it's not Trash. There are Trash movies and there are 'Okay' movies. Sure it had flaws, but it is a Zack Snyder movie through and through. He needed better Writers, for sure. But for what he was going for it's an enjoyable movie if you allow yourself to appreciate it for what it is.

He didn't have full control. The idea he pitched were the director's cuts but they told him the only way he could make those, is if he made PG-13 versions.
