- Episode 3 Winter Fly Fishing Buffet - We all love fly fishing in the Summer, but for those who don't mind the cold find that Winter has some AMAZING opportunities for the fly fisher. Small midges and light tippet are the key to unlocking the river's secrets! We hope you enjoy!
Series Overview:
Three years ago we launch the original Buffet Series which consisted of 8 fly fishing adventures from around the globe. We had so much fun creating and sharing those stories that we decided to create a second round of fly fishing adventure films. In season 2 we stay a bit closer to home and focus on the amazing trout fisheries the West has to offer. We invite you to join us on these adventures as we share some of our favorite experiences with you.
Whether your preference is chasing trout in a cold mountain stream, bonefish on a secluded flat, or large mouth bass in your favorite warm water pond, this series has something for you!

Winter is my favorite time to fly fish. The serenity and lack of fishing pressure makes it special.
So peaceful standing in the middle of a river, gentle snow falling but man is it hard to keep your hands warm. Worth it.
Winter fishing and braving the cold is worth it for many reasons but the lack of other fisherman is by far number 1!
Catching big fish on tiny midges will always be my favorite way to fish, and this video explained it perfectly.
I gotta say, winter is probably my favorite these days. The fish are stacked up, bigger fish seem more willing, and VERY few people. Just put in the hours and a person will be rewarded. 🤙🏻

Summer is great, no doubt. But it’s tough to beat a day of solitude in the snow! Nothing quite compares to the cold, austere beauty of winter. Not to mention the fact that some of my favorite fisheries reach their peak in the winter!

Great Winter action. Here in northern Sweden all water är frozen, so Wintert is a Times for fly tying and planing summerfishery.

Summer is still my favorite - I love wet wading and cutthroats on PMDs and bushy dry flies. However, it’s much easier to find solitude on a winter stream.

Stellar content!!! Gilbert and team, fantastic visualization carefully balanced with right amount of commentary. Had an amazing winter midge trip a few weeks ago. Still amazes me that a size 20 midge will get trout to actively move in freezing cold water.
