Great video please kindly upload more videos related to Windows Server Migration and Windows Server Patching and Patch Management and Backup and various other real world troubleshooting and practical scenarios for Windows Server and Windows Server related issues
Nice! Thanks for the video! Now ... that been said, if I were you, i would download the video, amplify the audio when you speak and upload it again or add text with instructions cause volume is too low! Cheers!
Hi Vincent I have the same error like antonio but for 2012 Standard version follow error: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard cannot be upgraded Upgrade to Windows Server 2012 Evaluation Version Standard (server with a graphical user interface) You can choose to install a fresh copy instead de Windows Server 2012 Standard Trial (server with a graphical user interface), but it is a different operation from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings and programs You must reinstall the programs using the CDs or original installation file. what I do wrong?
Thank you, this is great video, I followed it and upgraded my 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 no issues (well none that I have found yet). Do you know if I need to worry about my GPOs? Thank you again! :)
great video, plz let me know that I have Additional DC in one branch under single domain and both DC are replicating each other , Main DC has 2012R2, my question is, after upgrading Additional DC from 2008r2 to 2012r2, does it become a master DC ? or is there any chance that it may over-right to the Main DC while replication once i reconnect it to the network?
@@VincentTechBlog Thanks for your reply, I am getting error while running addprep "Addprep could not contact schema FSMO controller DC-12(which is my main DC), The schema FSMO must be reachable for this operation". Can you please help me in this .
Hey dude the tut seems pretty cool but the million dollar question is can someone do this upgrade/migration completely remotely without having any physical access to the server machine? For example being even in a different country from the server machine?
Mind Rapist You could use Remote Desktop, but only for the first bit and the last bit. For the rest you'll need to be right next to the server physically
I am not an expert in this but if you have to use CD-rom ISO or Flash drive you will need to be physically at the server. You maybe able to map your local drive to it make it act like USB or CD. Not sure about those steps. It seems odd to have remote DVD or CD rom.
Hi Vincent I have follow error:Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Evaluation (Server with a GUI). You can choose to install a new copy of Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Evaluation (Server with a GUI) instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Evaluation (Server with a GUI), click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”. what I do wrong?
+Antonio Persichini No, you are not wrong. After backing up your files. You can perform a custom clean installation with Windows Server 2012 Datacenter.
Antonio Persichini You chose to upgrade 2008 R2 Standard to 2012 Datacenter. That isn't the correct upgrade path for you- you need to choose 2012 Standard and then it should work
+Olalegbin oluwatosin Thanks for sharing but I failed with this method. So I bought a product key to upgrade my win 8 to 8.1 in facebook.com/pages/Windows-8-Product-Key/1609234649338869. Now my computer works well and the key didn't cost me much. Guys you can also have a try with this link.

HI Optimus, No it will not overwrite the MainDC unless you move the FSMO roles to the MainDC

very nice job. voice could have been better though
Do you need to prepare DNS or DHCP like AD? Didn't listen to this vid with mic so I don't know if you talked about it.
This video is about migrating AD i.e ADDS and DNS. I think you don't need to prepare DHCP. It works when upgraded
My setup stuck at Getting Ready Setting 83 %
what about the license? Will it be suitable for Server 2012?
