Since the beginning of covid, I stopped picking up pennies but no more I'm going to keep everyone I find and give them as gifts. long live the penny!

This was just brilliant. The amount of production involved and the depth of research alone should win you guys some kind of an award. Brilliant, truly brilliant. If I was still a teacher I would figure some way to show this to my classes. If I still worked at CNBC I would find someway to have them air this. It’s just the right length for a half hour sponsored segment. And those are my two cents.
I just came here after watching your video about banned crayon colors. Just wanted to say how touching your content is to me. You tackle these seemingly mundane topics with an air of sweetness, care, and nostalgia that leaves me in a reflective mood. I am only a young adult, but the idea of the penny being discontinued makes me sad for some reason. Sure, pennies themselves don't have a massive effect on my daily life, but they are something that have always been a part of it. Thank you for your thoughtful videos. This made my day.
I have one 1909 VDV penny, it was part of my $1.75 change from Macdonalds they gave an extra penny,but it was THAT extra penny, I told the cashier they gave an extra cent and she said oh it’s ok don’t worry,she didn’t want to reach out the window again (drive thru) and as always I put the Penny inside a jar labeled “lucky pennies” where I put all the Pennies that I found on the street or extra that get,that’s when I noticed that one looked different and after paying more attention the back was completely different and it had the initials,that coin is literally so precious to me just to think the history of that penny and the countless places and hands it has been.

Even though the penny is a nuisance in pocket change, I hope it is continued.
It is the first coin made in the US and it's evolution from the historical standpoint is worth keeping it!

Remember,it still takes 1/100 for a dollar and is still considered to be money for what it's worth.

Jim, Dawn, I am surprised you are not getting millions of views. Your videos are just wonderful, expertly done and well researched. Thank you again. I have shared out some of my favs such as the Titanic and NY Highlights. I'd love to see and hear your take on the Post Covid New York City. I am in Phila here and we have lots of NY transplants now just over the past 2 years. BTW, I hope the US doesn't give up the Penny. I recently cashed in about 250.00 worth that I painstakingly wrapped. I came across so many era's including the steel Penny. Good history lesson.
Wasn’t it the 1909 S VDB that was the Holy Grail? I collected them in grammar school. Great video.
You forgot to mention in 1982 they changed the composition from 95% copper and 5% zinc to 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper

So if I have a 3 foot high replica coke bottle bank filled 3/4ths of the way with coins (mostly pennies), should I cash them in before they get rid of the penny? Or can I trade it in for bitcoin?
Oh, and my vote would be to keep the penny.

I think the penny should stay because it has a long beautiful history and may not be worth much but it’s worth a lot to our hearts❤ it’s an iconic part of most Americans life I can’t imagine America without the penny, A penny is worth one cent and after all we only have one heart ❤️❤️

I forwarded your video for my father to watch. The mint should use other than copper to bring the cost down and continue making them.😍

I pick up every penny I see just lying on the ground. One year at Halloween, I gave out rolls of pennies instead of candy, and the kids were excited to be getting money ! I don't know what I'm going to do with all the rolls of pennies I still have when they stop making pennies, and places stop accepting them.

Two years after this video, the penny still going strong. If no one wants them, why does the mint release 2-3B a year. In the past there was a 2 and 3 cent. They should introduce the 3 cent and get ride of the penny.

Technically everyone uses a card for their phone to pay for things why do we need change at all. Vending machines take dollar bills and cards. And I mean really does anyone buy the candy in those candy machines that sit in there probably a year or more pass it up and get some real candy lol
I'd keep it until his 250th birthday then get rid of it make that one extremely special with silver penny's made in proof and the others diff. Every 12 weeks from each mint it would be exciting
Getting rid of more pennies will make me a millionaire then. I have pennies from many countries and over 100 pounds of pennies. That's not including my thousands of nickels dimes and quarter which go as far back as 1865.

When I was little I would find a penny and put it in my mouth and it would upset my sister terribly.
She's three years older than me and was my second mom while we were little. So when she caught me putting a penny in my mouth she couldn't get me to stop so she would tell me this long drawn out tail of where the penny had been and of course she put it through everything horrible and gross and nasty that she could think of to try to gross me out and get me to stop putting pennies in my mouth. I just thought she was trying to annoy me so it didn't work and if it did stop me from putting a penny in my mouth it was so she wouldn't tell me the story again. Now, thinking back on that, it totally grosses me out that I did that. 🤮Lol! Of course I appreciate my sister for trying. I also wish I had a recording of her stories because I think they'd be pretty funny to listen to now. 😂
My mom used to save wheaties. Upon her death I think a brother cashed them in and a cousins brother stole all the silver dimes she had collected.
I never leave a penny. I feel if I’m so worthy that it’s beneath me to pick it up…that doesn’t say much for who I am. We need to appreciate these little treasures even if penny candies are no more. Get enough of them and you too might be rich.
