You're correct. The first flash over the crest on Mountain Straight was green! Whincup was hard done by that day, you can't expect to change the lights on a car approaching at 255kph it's ridiculous to expect it to slow up in time.

If you go back and look at the front of the car you'll see a plastic bag stuck in the radiator inlet. The car began overheating badly but if they'd pitted to get rid of the bag they would have fallen too far back. It was too late in the race to make the ground back up. It was a fantastic finish to that race. They were either going to win or detonate the engine.
As soon as Fabian went stupidly slow, we all knew the pressure was off car 17s pitstop. 120+ laps of good racing went down the drain for every other team and driver.
Didn't really change the pressure on 17 much, they were racing triple eight for the lead in that stop, would have had a couple of seconds buffer behind them too regardless. It was purely to benefit Coulthard because the double stack would have sent him tumbling. It did up the pressure on the rest of the field though, and kind of all for nothing as the penalty they got negated any gains they got (and then some).
@@bartonez123car 97 was actually not required to stop as they had stopped more recently than the leaders and would've taken the lead. They would've had the advantage of track position and potentially could've kept it with the help of the next safety car

Is nothing like the 70s, 80s, 90s. The cars are so similar with controls on so many aspects of the cars, you could put Morris 1100 panels on one of these BS racecars and go racing at Bathurst. The race should still be based around the cars you can buy at the dealers, not these oversized gokarts they call supercars. Watching the racing is like watching paint dry, no different that the F1 train that goes round and round a circuit.
