Marshall Mannerheim's train car near Mikkeli railway station is open for public only once a year, 4th of June (Mannerheim's birthday). There is not much to see in the train car, but the other war museums in the town also have open doors and no entrance fees in the same day. Too bad you visited Savonlinna in a day/time when the Olavinlinna castle was not open for public. It is worth visiting. Normally the water of river Vuoksi runs via the Imatrankoski power plant turbines and a parallel channel, bypassing the rapids you visited. They open the dam gates only once a week, for (chinese) tourists.
Hi Cat! You are literally my very favourite RUclipsr. I've watched all your videos on repeat, they're very calming and adventurous but yet still so cute and fun, I love your video ideas SO much!! Your editing and video quality is great, and you have such a fun personality and you always look great. You and Dave are so cute together :3 I totally think you deserve much much much more subscribers, I'm sure you'll get tons in no time! xx
+Jeanine Lawson (Nina) oh my gosh, thank you!!! That's so so nice to hear, you have no idea! :) plenty more videos on the way, hope you'll like them too!
Actually that train cart is pretty signicant in world history. Marhall Mannerheim and Adolf Hitler had a lenghty discussions about WW2 1942 in there. It was secretly recorded by the Finns and it's still the only recording of Hitler speaking in normal voice. Not in the position of total dominance, because he realized, the tide had turned. Quite remarkable place in world history, in my opinion. But hey!! It's a train cart!! Hihihi-hi-hiiiiii...??
Brilliant! I would love just to explore Finland and take in its culture and nature. How good is Dave's Swedish getting now that he's been surrounded by more Swedish speakers?
+stevebloodymckenna You should, it's beauuutiful!! :) His English has improved so much, more specifically he's gotten a lot more comfortable and confident with speaking Swedish 😊👍
Lahti on Lahtis toisella virallisella kotimaisella kielellä. Riikinruotsia puhuvien en ole koskaan kuullut käyttävän kaupunkien nimiä Lahtis, St. Michel tai Nyslott. Jostakin syystä Suomessa on ollut kova hinku keksiä puoliväkisin paikoille nimet molemmilla kotimaisilla kielillä, vaikka yksi ja sama nimi olisi vakiintunut kaikkien käyttöön, äidinkielestä riippumatta. Sama koskee mm. saariston vakiintuneiden ruotsinkielisten nimien suomentamista.
R1234 H5678 Kielilain mukaan paikkakunta on kaksikielinen, jos siellä asuu 3000 vähemmistökielen puhujaa... kannattaa tosiaan korjata tuo ettei riko kielilakia... kovat rangaistukset... Lahdessa tuskin 3000 ruotsalaista asuu...
