      Players get called travel alot cos they pick the ball too early. Those funny compilations of NBA players 'travelling' are mostly just gather steps until they put the other hand on the ball. Before that they can take as many steps as they want with the ball just hanging(hand not under the ball)

    When doing the last dribbling crossing, the player need to pounding the ball harder, so that the ball would have more speed floating. Then the side step would be longer to stretch the defender before holding the ball. I guess.

      its a teaching technique, also youre not always going to get things right right away, but you can usually tell when someone understands the idea, they just dont execute properly, which is what theyre saying "yes" to. usually. then theyll explain what the player can do better afterwards

    So if the hang/ hesi doesn’t result in you putting the ball back down how does it not count as the pickup? What prevents you from taking 6 steps to the basket if you don’t put your hand underneath the ball and keep it behind it?

    • @Jay-rg5mt
      @Jay-rg5mt 2 года назад +1

      If you keep your dribble live (not palming, not carrying, not picking the ball up) you can actually take as many steps as you want.
      That’s how people do that stutter step head where they take like 6 quick steps. As long as your dribble is continuous

      @MonkeyD.Moritz 4 года назад

      Nymeria Eyiel literally nothing else to do but practice and maybe go to the weight room. As a lefty I had the same problem going right but I beat everybody going left. Started going right more often in training and boom 💥 I have a very hard to guard drive with both sides and can finish on contact with both hands really well.
      And you need to be explosive and able to change your speed really fast. If you can do that the defender always has to leave room between you and him and if you can shoot well unlike me that’s horrible to defend against

      @@MonkeyD.Moritz ty but i can drive with my left now i do stuff in pickups that only consist of step back and left lay ups and floater my problem now is my consistency in my shooting and sometimes lay up i have days where i feel like i am curry and days where i just do pure airballs on 3 my lay up sometimes is too strong if i am on full speed but i realized that i am not grinding enough nowdays bcoz of school works hard to balance the two

    • @MonkeyD.Moritz
      @MonkeyD.Moritz 4 года назад

      Nymeria Eyiel yeah finished school 2 years ago but before I had to really manage my time well😅
      I had the same problem too that sometimes I was too fast and the ball would bounce too hard off the backboard but that was usually only on open layups. When I had defense against me that never happened😅idk how old you are but it will take some time to get a good feel of how fast you are and how much force you need to make the ball go in. Especially if you are still growing💪🏽
      Take your time👌🏽
