New to quixel mixer and I like your slower tutorials, the ones from quixel are hella fast lol. They're here, then here, then click here, then done... If they could just, take a deep breath, chill and slow it down a bit. Go through stuff a little more thoroughly like you did. That'd be nice. Great tutorials, great software.
I completely know what you're saying. It's bizarre how many people speak like they're an auctioneer explaining this tool. It must be a game developer thing.
@@DesignwithTP sorry i didnt reply_ the case is that there was a problem in the bridge plugin ..... guys if it occured just remove the displacement map from the material_ and put Vraydisplacementmod from the modifier list
Thank you a lot for such detailed and comprehensive tutorial! It really helps for beginner like me to start making materials. One question. Material created in this tutorial. For what purposes can it be used? (for example in Unreal Engine). I know. For environment, for terrain / landscape. But texture has to be tiled-ready :) That question is not clear for me. Because it is too hard to create a coast with non-repeating texture. And I assume that there should be a lot of such materials. So It would be so great if you create tutorials about making something in Mixer and transferring it to UE and applying to something in UE. Anyway, great tutorial!
Nice tutorial, thanks. The next thing I need to understand is exactly what gets exported, and how to use it in UE4. Does it include a Smart Material? Can you paint it on a landscape?
Hello,i loved your tutorial..however i am stucked a moment where i already made 2 different layers material, but i could not add by layer into unreal engine 4.i want ot create a material and want to paint it...please help me out
Great tutorial series! thank you! I have a problem however in my exports. Everything seems to look fine in mixer and in bridge, say I download an asset in 4k, I view it in the bridge 3d view and all is good....but when I export it into UE4.....after it is done the texture is stretched and blurred on some parts, making the asset look horrible. Is there something I'm doing wrong? :( no matter what resolution I export this occurs. Like say on a tree trunk, parts are stretched like the UV was not layed out properly.
Try updating to the newer UE4 Plugin for Bridge. I know Quixel has been trying to optimize it a lot lately as there were some bugs like this. Maybe now it is more correct?
You can go to File > Export to Library (which will export to Quixel Bridge) or you can use the manual Export tab. If you've exported to the library, then inside Bridge, you can open the asset, specify Unity or UE4 as the engine you are exporting to, and simply click export. Everything should pop in fine, assuming you have the Unity and/or UE4 plugin's installed via Bridge.
after 5x fresh insallings i am not able to use Quixel Mixer. i open new / or make new Texture, have 4 layers with mask and paint, but just added. I didnt worked on it. This i was made after 10h struggeling through the crashes.Anyone here with same problems ? Im using win10 2014build. - RTX 2070 super, ryzen 9 3900 x with 32GB RAM...i work with 4k textures. even when i go on low poly 216 kb the programm wil close after 3-5 min. every startup. i cant use this longer than 5 min. thanks
I know this is an old comment but maybe someone else will have the same problem. To use the Megascans library you just need to have an Unreal Engine license, you can now get this for free. You can then log into Mixer using your Epic account. It will ask you to agree that the Megascans library can only be used with Unreal Engine. It will then link your account and you can then access the entire library for free.

This was actually really good, thanks. You explained so much, so clearly.
OMG you are so helpful! This is a true tutorial for amateurs like me.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much! I finally find where the mask tab is! Appreciate it!
Same as other people say and as with you other tutorial, great stuff!
Great video for a beginner as myself! Keep em coming!
Thanks amigo your tutorials are cool- step by step
I have a small 0roblem when exporting the material to 3ds max vray it appears tooooooo jagged this frustrated me eventhough the mix is fine
Sounds like it might be on 3DS Max Vray's end? Is there a tessellation value slider perhaps? Or is there enough sub-divisions in your mesh?

Oh crap I have to subscribe to download the free materials but 9$ a month isn't too bad.
