    Fun fact, Sid couldn't play sh*t, but the time in between he joined Sex Pistols and he met Nancy, he was very dedicated to learning to play. One time he spent the whole night with the Ramones debut album and his bass, and the nex day he could play all the songs and has gained speed and all. That's how fast he could learn, and that's why you can hear several Ramones songs on this video.

    Go back through these comments after having a notification pop up. It is sad how many people still love this man, when I was a teen, I admit I loved him, too. But as I grew older, learned more about this man, it is a tragedy. Nothing to be celebrated here, sure early in the scene, he was a face, a stand out character. But by the time he joined the Pistols, it didn't take long for him to spiral out of control. Punk rock was never about self destruction, it was supposed to be about building yourself up. Sid is not a story to celebrate, it is a story of how drugs, and no self control can tear you apart.

      Aesthetical Twat the rickenbacker belonged to the original bassist so the moment he left the band his bass was still at the studio. Sid was issued in immediately and they used the rickenbacker for a show or two and then the original bassists mom made him go back and get it. Then Malcolm bought the white bass we know Sid to have “played”.

    • @cubedomatic
      @cubedomatic 5 лет назад +130

      It wasn't his playing that was a match, it was his stage presence. If it's not about perfection then the bad cover compilations that can be found here can be called punk covers? Wonder why he wasn't recorded on most the albums? He was recruited for his image and antics on stage, not his ability to play. Punk is about doing greater with you got and loving it. Not "fuck it who cares. It's punk" That's why whenever people saw the Ramons or early sex pistols they tried to start bands, not because of fuck it but "if these guys are doing, then why can't I?" Being bad at something and not caring is not punk.

      Why dummies like you still parrot the nonsense about Malcolm creating them is beyond me. Brian Epstein told the Beatles how to look and act. The Who’s manager suggested things for Townshend to write about and was responsible for their look. The Stones’ manager did the same thing.

    I like that some of the recording of “Sid play the bass” is him tuning it up and even that he’s doing poorly.

    I kind of honestly look up to him in a way - despite his whole background and all the negative aspects - but coming from myself who's dream has always been to be in a band, and seeing someone like him who came from a background similar to my own with no talent or experience, is a bit inspiring in a way

    It's what Punk was all about not being perfect but being alternative being yourself making the music industrially and Rock 'N' Roll upside down to create it your own sound and a purpose of a statement 😎🔗🔒🖇

      *PUNK* is a Journalistic term created by the media to categorise (pigeonhole) something to sell to idiots and *make money.* No band worth its salt then had a bar of the term (which is also prison/street slang for a piece of rubbish, basically) *unless* they wanted instant glory.

      He did his job of showing us that anyone can be in a band. However, we would have no Sex Pistols if the rest of the band was as bad as him. You also contradict yourself, Andy. You said punk was about creating your own sound. The guy didn't have a clue as to what he was doing. Musicians create sounds. This guy couldn't express himself with sound if he wanted to. The sound you hear on Sex Pistols songs isn't even him playing.

      Yup. A bunch of dumb assholes in the U.K. said “HEY let’s be a band and purposely sound like fucking shit for the sole purpose of being different!” And now we have mumble rappers getting paid millions, while people that can actually play an instrument aren’t getting SHIT. Really great thing punk rock, and others, did for the music business! You don’t have to be talented anymore to be a famous musician! So awesome! Basically anyone putting 10000+ hours into practicing an instrument are wasting their fucking time! I can’t thank you fuckin “noise” idiots enough for ruining music. If you don’t like music, don’t ruin it for everyone else. You wanna hear noise? Go work at a goddamn factory or something. When you hear a music note in a song, do you just get pissed? Does it turn you off? “Did I just hear a C#? Burn this fucking album” But anyway, thanks again for being the reason mumble rap exists.
