Honestly, a lot of them have been kinda butchered. I'd take 4's victory animations/themes over Ultimate every time.

Dairunt smash 4 was very bland yes.
They still look awesome. I don't think just because something is worse in comparison to something else that it's bad.
Ultimates background is so pretty but 4's looks like a barren wasteland.

What's wrong with Ultimate shulk? Generally he's used to show how small details are more Noticeable in Smash Ultimate in comparison channels o3o you can tell the difference between his strands of hair in Ultimate, while it kinda just blurs together in Smash 4.
Can I just say, sometimes they do this thing where they just don't do anything with a character's eyes. Obvious example is Shulk, as he just looks like he's staring into space, but others like Bayonetta for some reason not winking in her first pose, just is weird and confuses me. This is obviously very minor, but I just wanted to point that out.
The one with Shulk putting the monado up to his face just looks so....weird in ultimate. His face is so derpy lol
Yeah, Shulk is probably the only character who I'd say looks worse in Ultimate lol. Well, his face at least... his eyes are like 0_0

I feel like both of Shulk's first 2 poses were better in Smash 4. Being able to see his full body and stance adds that Xenoblade feel especially because in Smash 4 he looks to be completely focused on a target off screen (the first one looks like you're the target)
His 3rd pose though... Feels like it needs to be replaced.
I'd like to see him put the sword up to his face dramatically while meditating and the camera looking at his face through the hole, then electricity builds up and the Smash Monado appears and he flurries into a stance.
Or since Robin got a Chrom cameo, maybe Shulk's 3rd pose could involve some tomfoolery with Reyn since his model is in the Final Smash (I think... I know Dunban is... Maybe Fiora?... I haven't seen Shulk's FS in a while)
Nope, it's Dunban, Riki, and Fiora only. Reyn, Sharla, and Melia don't have models.
Arielle Spiro yes. It’s a shame tho, cuz Melia is my favorite and I really liked Sharla and Reyn too so I kinda wish they would all appear but randomly and just three at a time like in the original game

8:55 Dark pit has clearly working on his technique. The amount of finesse on that new staff twirl is staggering. I legitimately lost my mind when I saw it. It is so much cooler than in smash 4

To be fair we don't know if Smash Lucina is Robin's daughter. Their dialogue would suggest otherwise.
@@marche800 In the Smash Bros. universe there's multiple versions of every character existing simultaneously (as shown with spirits). So the answer is yes and no. Although this Lucina specifically I'm not sure.
@@marche800 On the contrary, Smash Bros strongly implies F!Robin is married to Chrom. In the original Japanese dialogue for the "Chrom" victory pose, she says "I'll be your other half." Notably, the form of you she uses is anata, which is traditionally only used by a wife to her husband.

Ultimate's victory screen is obviously more pleasing to the eye, what with the petals, speed lines and the more detailed and colourful background. The camerawork is also snappier and more stylish. The only thing that I really prefer in 4 is how you can see Levin Sword's trail on the freeze frame in Robin's 1st victory pose.

I also miss when the announcer says “And the Winner is” It made the wins screens more satisfying. If the had that in Ultimate, they would have been amazing victory screens. Bayonetta’s victory screens were way better in Smash 4. It’s weird and lazy that the announcer says “Mario Wins” then the name pop out like 3 seconds late, it’s just not natural to me.
And I wish Ness and Lucas had their victory themes in (brawl/smash 4) back. It was perfect for them, they didn’t need to change it.

I love Ultimate, but any character who has realistic hair just looks so weird. That’s one thing Sm4sh did very well.
It also bothers me that Ultimate’s characters mouths don’t move when talking in their victory screen.

I agree, but I think Palutena and Zero Suit Samus are the only exception. Palutena's hair in Smash Wii U was bland and boring, in Ultimate it's more detailed and messy, just like in her Kid Icarus: Uprising, Smash 4 and Smash Ultimate artworks.
As for ZSS, her hair is more golden in Ultimate, I like that.

What an upgrade for Palutena. Just with Ultimate having more particles effect, her animations look WAY more graceful than the originals in 4!
Ultimate just has so many beautiful particles effect, and this + the camera moving more, we have some really good victory screens.

Fun Fact: "...Wins!" was actually an unused voice clip in Melee. It was brought back in Ultimate after different announcers said different variations of "This game's winner is..." in Smash 64 and Melee with "The winner is..." in Brawl and Smash 4.

Ultimate: replaces you with a bot because you're horrible at your job
Something I've noticed about the victory screens in ultimate is that the character is both closer and more center to the camera. They aren't sharing space with the other players so it makes the end pose more impactful and less awkward. You can just do more when you aren't delegating a significant portion of the screen to something else.
Like I like how Ultimate made Wii Fit Trainer's victory poses look so cool and dramatic 😂

Despite Ultimate's crushed colors, and distracting back light for the final pose, the superior arena and those petals add such a great atmosphere
4's pose scenes/graphics with Ultimate's arena would look perfect
16x16 Smash 4 does look more realistic and tame, but I’d say smash 5 is much more appealing to look at

16x16 Well because one: they’d get shit for not changing the victory screens. Two: the flashy redesign of ultimate wouldn’t go well with more dull, less interesting animations

They went for "[Character's name...] wins!" because it wasn't used before until now. It was intended to be used in Melee, but it used "This game's winner is..." in the final game.

I only just now realized that the claw on the Koopaling's cars changed to their primary colors in Ultimate.
That's a nice little detail! Now they have their own wands instead of Bowser Jr.'s hammer and unique claw colors.

Without the slightly shaky camera in Smash 4, Mega Man looks like even more of a still picture after he finishes his poses. I get that he's a robot, but it's still a little unnerving.
I hated how with the smash 4 poses,some of them were done their pose,and then there would be an awkward pause after. Yes,I know they had to do that bc it had the “the winner is” and if they put the dialogue during the “the winner is” it would sound weird,but they should probably speed up since the some of the names of characters (Rosalina & Luma) are longer. That’s why I like “... wins!” better then “the winner is ...”. Say all you want but I think that smash 4 had the worst way of doing victory poses in all 5 games.

I don't know what's about it, but SM4SH Robin and Shulk look so much better than how they look in Ultimate.

What's with the koopaling's poses, the victory poses of them doing the one that bend their arms down and their hands making a fist in smash4's, now in ultimate their hands are bent but their arms aren't bent, they're straight and the chain around their arm going through the hand

You can see it especially with Iggy
Palutena's new "Too bad for you" victory pose is much cooler! I like how she enters hovering from the side of the screen! Way better than just spinning her staff while standing still. I also prefer the pose she does after she sits in her laughing victory pose in Ultimate as well.
Some of them appear to be mainly unchanged aside from the generally much nicer camera work; though the camera angles do at times make it more clear now what exactly is going on, such as Greninja's foot sweep after dropping in and the fact that Palutena is actually floating after her little pole dance. I also like the new transitions in some of them, such as Mega Man actually dashing in. The bit of them removing the blink in Pac Man's eyes during his long jump was also nice, as well as giving Robin the fire by her hand as she actually brandishes it rather than simply lifting it up with no magic occurring.

I hate what they did to Mega Man's first victory. Instead of him quickly posing as soon as he teleports, he has a delayed reaction. It just seems off.
I like it. The original animation looked really stiff, and the little wind-up adds more impact to the actual pose.
