From a beat reporter at the Washington Post to an overnight sensation as the leader of the New Journalism movement, Tom Wolfe was at the forefront of reshaping how American stories are told. Recognizing the importance of overlooked subcultures and communities, Wolfe documented everything from rural stock car drivers to hippies in Haight Ashbury to the Apollo Astronauts, and his ability to bridge cultural and class divides while tackling stories central to American Life was unique in fiction and non-fiction. With a distinctive and oft-imitated style all his own, Wolfe’s body of work includes some of the most memorable and culturally impactful stories of the 20th century like The Right Stuff, The Bonfire of the Vanities, and A Man in Full. Radical Wolfe is a deeply personal and illuminating look at the man inside the famous white suit, featuring conversations and interviews with those who knew him best, including Michael Lewis, Jann Wenner, Gay Talese, Lynn Nesbit, Terry McDonell, Tom Junod, Christopher Buckley, Niall Ferguson, and Alexandra Wolfe.

If you like Tom Wolfe, go back a generation and read H.L. Mencken. They were cut from the same cloth, though Wolfe's suits were a lot more expensive.

Wolfe used the "same" tailor for most of his professional life beginning in the 1960's. He was an Italian Guy who cherished Mr. Wolfe. I read Bonfire Of The Vanities and the scene with Reverend Reginald Bacon (Loosely based on Reverend Al Sharpton), taking a meeting with Two Yale Graduates who handled the finaical affairs of a Catholic Church. After he got through with them, he made them feel so ashamed for asking for a $330.000.00 back. Also he showed Chambodia (IE Cambodia for Atlanta Citizens).

A very talented and popular writer, but non-the-less, the second best writer with that name from the south, he from Richmond, the other was born in 1900 in Asheville, NC. The other was truly a genius...

Damm it! I can't stand watching this film so far, BECAUSE OF THE DAMM MUSIC! Music in film should NOT distract you from the story. It is good chamber-like music, but I came to watch a documentary and the music is so annoying. It makes itself louder than the story. Any good musician knows not to overpower the main player, but to enhance them without drawing attention to him or herself. MUSIC CAN MAKE OR BREAK A FILM FOR ME. Whoever was in charge of the music on this ruined it.
