Being in Australia I only discovered Kino Lorber a few years ago. We can't get KL titles shipped directly from KL, we have to rely on third party sellers in different countries so they can be rather expensive to import, and by the time I'd discovered them I already had many of their titles on other labels...
But I do love the their work and am thankful for many of the titles they release, especially the more obscure ones - for example I never thought I'd see A Ring of Bright Water appear on blu-ray and was ecstatic when I found it in the KL line-up and it's now nestling on my shelf along with the other 80 or so KL releases I own.

Thank you for sort of answering the Kubrick question at 44:30 ... for info, 'Lolita' has been overlooked and a proper 4K with HDR is needed, 'Barry Lyndon' celebrates its 50th anniversary next year and Criterion scanned at 4K but issued Blu-ray only in 2017, and finally 'Eyes Wide Shut' is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and there's no news about an 4K release.

I can't say how much I enjoyed this podcast. Fun to listen to and learned a lot.
One suggestion, whenever you do a movie, try to add a commentary.
I'm a collector of film noir, and I enjoyed your three noir movie sets. All have been enjoyable. Especially the film's commentaries. 😊 more Alan Rode, Jason Ney and Imogen Sara Smith.

I've put in recent requests to Kino for the 1958 Rowan and Martin movie ONCE UPON A HORSE (originally Universal, never on DVD at all), the three LES RIPOUX French movies, which have also never seen a US release and the first two are only available on bootlegs), MISTER FROST with Jeff Goldblum (never available on legit DVD, just VHS), and RICOCHET from 1991, with Denzel Washington and John Lithgow (originally through HBO DVD and long out of print). I know that the company cannot respond directly to requests for legal reasons, but just putting them out there is good enough for me. I have my fingers crossed, and MISTER FROST would be a great addition to the new Kino Cult Blu-Ray line. I have WAY too many Kino titles, but am very, very happy that they are working hard to put on physical media not only the big titles, but the obscure ones. Three of my favorites over the past few years are the Blu-Rays for THE HALLELUJAH TRAIL, MADAME ROSA and THE SATAN BUG, all of which I had on my wish list for many years, and an indication of my eclectic taste. Go Kino and Mr. Tarzi! Have a wonderful year and keep these video chats coming!

Hey Frank, your job sounds like it's the best in the world! I have messaged before about this and now you have access to MGM.....we need a 4K UHD release of "MANNEQUIN" (1987) with some special features, I am sure Andrew McCarthy will do a commentary/retrospective, I happened to e-mail the music score composer recently, Sylvester Levay, and he would be up for discussing it and because of the amazing 80s score and Starships Oscar nominated song, it DEFINITELY needs an isolated score. Please, please, Frank and the guys at Kino Lorber, you can do it. Olive Films released it on blu-ray but it had no special features. Mannequin is that movie for me like you said @ 36:30 in this video, this movie means more to me than most people lol. Hopefully you guys can get the rights to it, you guys would do a better job than Shout Factory, my fingers have been crossed since 2015 with Olive's release. Either one of you get the rights and re-master that awesome 80s pastel colours and of course, Hollywood. It would be amazing to see his sexy Cadillac in beautiful HDR and Dolby Vision. Fingers crossed :)

@@FiendishThingy1965 True, but rights with restored silent films aren't as simple. Seeing the version they're using is (albeit somewhat modified) the Deutsche Kinemathek's 2K restoration. So the rights to that restoration are with them as well.
