I absolutely love the catch 5 on the Alabama gulf coast. Nice to see more information about the fitzgerald rods. Ive bought into the Falcon series a while back based on your recommendations
Really enjoyed seeing the "grassroots" beginnings of the American Dream company happening for Fitzgerald Fishing. I've got an Aqua Dream 7'2" MH Fast Action on the way and can't wait to put it through the paces on red & black drum, flounder, and trout pairing it up with a Vanford 4000. Not sure if Captain C.A. has ever used Trika rods out of Texas but I'm having some great success with them. Definitely the lightest setup I've ever used.
I grew up in Ocala! Love seeing you partner with Trever, that’s awesome! I’ve fished Crystal river my whole life and have learned a ton from your videos so it’s beyond cool to see basically my fishing coach in my home town!
I agree but Bryan Thrift will be the pro that drives that train! I will have some major input on some saltwater rods that are technique specific in the future
I can't say enough good things about my Aqua Dream, 7' 2" medium. I have it paired up with a Quantum Smoke 25 inshore and it's perfect for our SE NC fishery.
I'm very pleased with the Smoke. It's very light, fast, holds plenty of line (100 yards 12 lbs mono backing with 150 yards of 10 lbs Suffix 832), with plenty of silky smooth drag. Not to mention how good it looks, especially with the colors on the Aqua Dream. It's my first Quantum and I couldn't be more pleased.
This video is about highlighting a brand. Folks noting "not shimano"....oh well. Go back far enough and you see falcon rods with florida reels. Im listening more to the specs: lengths, powers, action, line and lure weights. Bonus, we get to see details on the fritzgerald rods. Thanks, captain CA.
I like the Fitzgerald rods but they seem to have smaller almost micro guides on the casting rods so it’s tough running braid to leader. I mainly use casting rods and like the Shimano Teramar XX SE and the Expride for bass.
Please have Fitzgerald use cork on new models or at least having the option of cork on their most popular models! 🙏 Absolutely love the feel of most of their rods but the EVA is an absolute killer aesthetically and feels/looks really cheap. I know I’m definitely not alone with this opinion!
I'm interested in trying these, but dislike how the vast majority of his casting rods I've looked at are 7' or more. Would be great to get some 6'9" or 6'10"s in there!
@@fitzgeraldfishing I'm somewhat particular about my rods - I strongly prefer cork and won't buy a rod that doesn't have a hood on the locking nut. Kind of ridiculous I know but exposed threads really bother me. So for your rods, the all purpose series are the only ones I'd really look at
@@jnorman975 I’d definitely check out the Aqua Dream model. I’m very picky as well and absolutely hate eva foam and a cheap looking real seat that looks super tacky with threads showing. It has cork and the real seat locking leaves no threads. There is some eva but I don’t notice it when fishing and it still looks very sharp. I mostly use Bull Bay rods but ever since I got an Aqua Dream, it is one of the first rods I grab and never leave it at home when fishing from my skiff
@@nategustafson1588 haha glad to know I'm not the only one! Hopefully CA takes that into account with his rods 😂. Is aqua dream spinning only? I'm looking for casting
My contract ended and I just wanted to go in another direction with control of my input on product development. That being said I still use and enjoy Shimano reels they are some of my favorites. But this move let’s me explore the market more and make my RUclips channel more interesting. Appreciate the tactful question my friend!
@@flatsclasscharters Nice! Change is a good thing! I still have multiple talaveras as my boat rods for my buddies to use. Great Rods, but it might be time to replace them. Seriously considering the Vursa lineup! Thanks for the good advice as always Capt.
Good question they both have similar actions but the Zodius offers casting models. The Aqua Fin however has all 316 stainless guides and truly holds better for the inshore anglers
@flatsclasscharters sounds perfect. I was leaning more towards the Aquafins based on price and Fitzgerald being not so "corporate". Thanks for the response CA. Loving the daily videos
It’s really not that at all William… I just had very little control over my category at Shimano and left when my contract was finished… for actually less but longer terms. For me it was about being happy where I work.
Wjats hes talking about with the subjective ratings on rods is funny to hear, because his view is subjective. It could very easily be fixed and an objective label used if he used the CCS system for rods.
@@kenneth9874 hey smart ass, manufacturers know. In rod building its a well discussed topic. Going to the CCS system is a benefit to the angler. Why would you be opposed to that?
CA,
Good call going down to the factory to review the selection of rods.
Awesome video Capt. UPS just dropped off another Fitzgerald rod to my house. Fast shipping and top-notch customer service. Fitzgerald Rods 🔥
They have great customer service and stand behind their product… they have a lot of fans in Florida

Trevor understands what artificial lure anglers want and builds rods to suit specific needs

How do you like the smoke? I have always looked at that reel and never bought one.
Yes the Aqua Dream Medium / Fast blank is great for Mirrodines and small to mid topwaters

My only complaint would be the handle. I wish it was a little bigger, and I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement yet.

Which casting rod would be good for skipping under mangroves?
Today for CA is Fitzgerald, yesterday was Shimano, it is whomever has the deepest pocket.

Damn William, you look stupid now, huh
It's called freedom.
Are all of those rods one piece?
Are you switching reel companies?
Wow,you need 20 rods to go fishing

21. 😂
