  • What is the difference between the TFO Professional VS Tactical Inshore fishing rods?
We get this question a lot and we had the chance to address it last week at iCast!

At the end of the day, both of these fishing rods are excellent and will catch you a ton of fish.
Both of these rods will perform very similar to one another in application and when the rod is actually loaded on a fish.
We’ve been fishing using TFO rods for years because they know rod construction and are proven to handle BIG inshore fish.

Thanks Justin! Always enjoy your tackle breakdowns. I love the TFO inshore rod and the blue is amazing. Also, was there a Guy Harvey sighting in this video? Haha

I bought an original blue, tactical inshore in 2018 or whenever it first dropped and it's been a superb striper rod up here in the northeast.

In other words the inshore tactical rod is a light weight salt water rod .That's the reason for the much longer butt section, faster action and the harder more corrosion resistant guides.

Good review Justin! The short length for kayaks, the hook keeper for hoss and owner hooks is very nice and could be a deal breaker for the TAC if other things are equal. The weedless hook keeper saves resetting your plastics to go thru the little hole, also safer if I grab the rod in a hurry and catch the exposed hook. We are very happy with our two TFO pro rods. Would consider changing the hook keeper? Are both made in china? We would prefer to buy local made rods even if they cost more from Florida suppliers. Seeya soon

Both of these TFO rods are now made in China. We can't control what type of keepers they put on their rods nor where they made them, but I am pleased to report that we are making a rod blank in the USA that will have an even better weedless lure keeper than the TFO Pro... it'll be coming out in September.

'Modulus' is something I need to understand. I'm not an engineer and don't understand physics very well.

Making it really simple, higher modulus is lighter weight but less durable than the lower modulus material. You can basically create the same exact flex profile in a rod with different modulus fibers but the weight and resistance to cracking/damage will be different.

@@C69hJc4 I just caught a couple bluefish with one. The Carbon Inshore series are all graphite and pretty awesome.
