I have 2018. With an extended catch can, which it fill up twice between oil changes. Uses 5 quarts of oil in between oil changes. Had the tsb done for oil consumption. Didn't change anything. I'm gonna run it till it goes. Plenty of power, happy with it. Other than the oil burner part. Stay away from this generation. Ford is not replacing my engine due to its "age" and miles. 123,854 on it. And they say it's " normal" to use that much oil😅
Coyote went direct injection in 2018 in addition to port injection. All prior coyote’s were port injection. Please research before you publish videos. Also I would say second Generation is best as it still ran the front crank mounted oil pump, had simple port fuel injection, made 385 HP in trucks. The 6 speed is also a robust unit with lots of parts availability.
3rd generation is the one I would stay away from. They are oil burners. They also went to the 10 speed trans on those years which are problematic. Gen 2 for the win.
On a budget agreed.... but "No Replacement for Displacement" 302Ci (Gen 1& 2) or 307Ci (Gen 3) also a full point higher with compression!!! 12:2.1 over 11:2.1.... not trying to fire shots love all Yotes
If you think direction injections, the best thing yet you’re kidding me with the EGR system that’s gonna get all plugged up with crap once injector leaks is gonna wash out your cylinders
Wow, this video is highly incorrect. The 1st and 2nd gen are only port injection. Also I believe the 3rd gen has a rubber belt for the oil pump vs metal chain for the 1st and 2nd gen
What? So you’re saying port AND direct injection is bad? Thats the same system toyota uses. It gives you maximum performance with the direct injection but still cleans your valves with the port injection.
always get a catch can,gen2 are very reliable
Gen 1s the only one reporting most reliability. 2012-14
I thought gen 1 started in 2011
@@BB-xq6rj correct but it was the first of its style. They made minor adjustments and more features for 2012, then even more for 13 and 14.
@@GirthosaurusRex 308K and still going strong 💪

I have a '18 f150 with the coyote. I change the oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles, and usually burn about a quart of oil between changes...
Had a ‘19 that needed 2 engine replacements in under 50k due to oil consumption

6r80 are Solid master piece
First gen with 6 spd not that 10 spd crap
That “10 spd crap” demolishes the 6 speed when it’s healthy.
10 speed is the only way to go with an automatic

Everyone knows that a 2015-2017 F150 with the 2nd gen 5.0 and a 6 speed is unmatched.

@@exclusivetunedcycles2420I believe he’s referring to the reliable. The 10 speed trans is absolutely garbage in terms of reliability.
what if i have a 04’ gt, automatic?
@@ThatMekanic yes, I was only speaking on reliability

Gen2 Coyote is a better setup.
Definitely 2012 -14 6speed
Strongly disagree. 3rd Gen is the worst.

Hes totally wrong, the 2018 to 2020 burn oil like crazy
WRONG! GEN2 '15-'17 is definitely the best of the 4 generation.

My repair skills are limited. No opinion.
Id bet this engine is against the reliability of a pushrod V8, Probably not 🚫. The timing chain would stretch blow the engine sooner vs a pushrod V8.
What about 4th gen?
Dumb fuel injections on the 3rd generations made it unreliable. Get first or second and you’ll have that thing going 300k miles

I have a 2nd generation with 200,000 miles. You have a good point.
Yep my 2011 is at 308K and still going strong 💪
