- Replacing the cracked rubber carburetor boots on my 2003 Ski doo Grand Touring 550 fan engine. Check out this DIY project with some pointers from yours-truly as I fight off frost-bite out in the shop on this cold Canadian winter day. Be sure to take-note of the small screws used to install the rubber carb boots as you drop one of these and you'll end up like me. SOL! Glad you're hear and be sure to check out the cool up-close shots of the 550 fan engine. Vroom Vroom!

Thank you for this video! I took my boots off and didn't find any cracks. Just wondering, have you got any idea why my sled might still be idling way too high? Its a 2000 mxz 600, and it wants to idle at 4RPM.
Can you please give me a link where do you buy your parts?
I recently bought the same skidoo, year, and model. Not enough power ,after rev up, it will turn off on its own, air box is missing as well, premix gas only, carb boots are cracked too upon checking (after watching your video).
Isn't carb cleaner going to make the new boots brittle? I've heard of people using an un-lit propane torch.
I just bought a 96 670 rotax liquid. All of a sudden it is racing on start up. It is also making a "ckacking" noise for lack of a better word. Just wondering if this noise could also be related to sucking too much air ?
Unfortunately I’m not too familiar with that engine
My 2004 renegade 600 ho has boots cracked too. It won’t start when cold (below 0 f)
It’s started in the heated garage.
How about yours? Do you think this is why it won’t start in the cold? Too lean.
Mine starts perfect in all weather now that the boots are changed. It actually started well even when the boots were cracked. The way I knew the boots were damaged was because of the hanging idle. Basically when it wants to rev up on its own and not come back down to idle
Good video. Thanks
Thanks appreciate that.
I have fuel pouring out of the bottom of my sled. This will definitely help when I attempt to fix it.
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
Kinda non related question, but what size is the fuel line from the carb to fuel pump?
I’m not too sure to be honest. I’ll see if I can remember to grab a measurement for you
I believe they are 1/4 inch line. Both the carb and pulse lines. The line from your tank to your fuel pump is most likely 3/8 , But could be 1/4 in older models like the sled in this video.
Was your boggy when it was cracked
Not sure what you mean
