- The "best" (or funniest or however you choose see it) part from the George Jones documentary you'll find on the DVD "GEORGE JONES - Video biography and live concert".
But the funniest part might be when Waylon Jennings - who at this time did coke for 1500$/day - say: "This is gonna sound awfully funny coming from me, but..." Hahaha!
Here's a link to a sait where you can buy the DVD.
And i'm sure you can find it elsewhere aswell.
I'm glad ya'll like the clip!
www.play.com/DV...
You know you're in trouble when it's Waylon Jennings that tells you to "straighten up".
well said haha, oh my not nice to laugh about this but anyway, im sure that both george and and waylon laughed about this years after.

Waylon did say "this is gonna sound awful funny coming from me..." (O:þ
No joke dude! Waylon didn’t stop doing coke till the late 80’s smoked 6 packs a day 😂
Exactly lmao...

George Jones - Drunk, pissed and coked up ..... damn, i thought this was gonna be my new favorite song
more of a Hank 3/ Billy Joe Shaver in his later years song
😂😂😂😂😂
Theres a roger alan wade song called exactly that, I clicked this thinking it might be the original haha
Right. I thought the same thing. But knew deep down. There was no song called this

Here's how big George Jones was: Pre-cable, when there were only 4 or so channels, this clip made the national news. I remember seeing it as a teenager.
In today’s world he would’ve been tuned-up good by them cops
What year was it?
@@Job.Well.Done_01 good ol boys don't get tuned up by the police, they probably had a george jones cassette in the squad car lmao
He was the real deal in country music,, not this BS they call country music now !! Pop country sux !!

AMEN!
When Waylon has to tell you to cool it, that’s a whole other level.
Could you imagine that state trooper going home that night? Wife: "So how was your day?" Trooper: "Not bad, until I had to arrest George Jones?" 😳
Was that Waylon Jennings?

I once ran audio for a local 1-hour special starring George Jones, sponsored by a local furniture dealer. He had a hit song in the early 60's called The Race is On with Gene Pitney doing backup. On this occasion, Johnny Paycheck (before the beard) sang backup. Later, George did Willie Nelson's Family Bible with that little waver in his voice.. It gave everyone in the control room chills.
If I remember the story correctly Tammy tried to cut George off the booze by taking the car keys, so he then gets on the lawn mower to get to the store to re up his supply, and this is the DUI on the lawnmower arrest. Rip George, maybe a no show-but NEVER a sell out to pop culture.
I read that on the net the other night. What people won't do...
Theres was other ways tammy could have helped him one was stand by her man , practice what you preach as they say. With all that money she could have got him specialist help. He loved her to the end . I dont think she loved him has much as George loved her .
One of my employees did 6 months on a DUI driving a moped. The day he got out he got drunk and got picked up on the same moped and did 6 more months. He was out about 4 hours.
Haha on the lawn mower. It’s a family tradition.
Heard he went to the bar that's down the street from him.. With the lawn mower.. He lived just down the rd..
I read that Waylon in the peak of his coke use was up to 15 grams a day. He said he would do 2 grams at once. And for him to tell Jones straighten up, who would know better on how to kick that evil habit. Addiction is a horrible curse especially if you got on it to eaze pain from a horrific incident that happened to you in the past. Battled with it for over 40 years. When i finally sobered up i had to relearn how to enjoy things in life even up the smallest things.
Thank God you did it though GLAD YOU made it. 😇
I read that in his autobiography, he could have been exaggerating a bit but who knows. His drummer told him to lay off of it for a few days so Waylon could feel the effects a bit better. Waylon did say at one point he was up for 7 days because he was doing so much.@Rhett Mclaughlins Chin
@Rhett Mclaughlins Chin thank you. I saw $1500/day in the description and also wanted to call BS. Waylon is a musical legend but thats nonsense.
@Rhett Mclaughlins Chin yeah man that’s the offensive part about the lie. Let’s say maybe it’s feasible to go on some kind of wild binge but the “per day” part insinuates that it’s a consistent thing. I’m sure George Jones and Waylon Jennings have done much more blow than me but no reason to create nonsensical stories to top it off.
@Rhett Mclaughlins Chin .... He spent $1500 a day
I saw George in 2003 and, man, he could still rock the house. Addiction had him firmly in its grips for most of his life.
"He stopped loving her today "... George Jones sung that song like a boss!
One of the most saddest and most beautiful songs i've ever heard 🤘🤘🤘🍻
George Jones was definitely one of the baddest dudes ever. All of the fake badasses out there now can't hold a candle to him. I praise the cops for not being over-reactive like the cherries that wear the badge today. Should this have been recorded? Probably not, but it is (pardon the pun) sobering to see how bad he really was beyond the stage. Thank the Lord, Waylon, and the rest who helped him get sorted out. RIP Possum. You will always be the greatest.

Yes and he was set up by the local news who was tipped off he had been at the bar several days in a row, and was leaving drunk. They sat and waited for him to leave one day, and called the cops, knowing he would he arrested. Real scummy thing they did to him
Yea you can stay away from drugs but it won't keep you from the hardships that come in life...you have to find a healthy way to cope or somehow keep things in moderation but not sure anyone has ever accomplished that.
If waylon tells you it's time to slow down on the partying you know you're a legend
George Jones is a national treasure, flaws and all.

The look on his face after they put him in the car shows the pain he was in
We all admire George for his great voice, his true love of country music, his honesty about the low times we see in this video, and his strength of charachter for getting back from all that. There are many who couldn't and didn't make it and what a treat we have all had listening to the greatest vocal stylist this planet will ever see. And he can still knock anybodys socks off.

@mhairibarry Glad you posted it. People need to see it. It will make people appreciate and love George that much more. Don't let no one tell you that you done wrong, because you did not. Thanks for posting.
Holy shit Jim Carrey NEEDS to play George Jones in a movie.
I’ve always said the same thing. He’s got the looks but the voices are totally different. I believe he could make it work though for sure.
Holy shit ...no!
Jim Carrey playing an American, especially an iconic one is wrong.
@@Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III what are you talking about? His character in that movie about the SUGMA Riots was amazing.
@@Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III I'm with you,man!Jim Carrey is a loser.
Except Jim Carrey is vehemently anti-gun and generally the exact opposite of _everything_ Jones was and stood for. Ffs I can't think of a single American value Carrey stands behind.
What makes you say that anyways, Just because he's a goofy dude...?
Poor George looks so defeated sitting in the back of the cop car. I like so many fans am glad he straightened up. RIP George.
George was a legend respite of his woes. In his death his legend continues to shine. His music is beyond reproach, his sound is that of legend, his legacy will never wane. God Bless you George Jones.
very well said there will always be one no show Jones
Thank You George for sharing. Hope you can help someone else...even if it is just one person.
I tell you what I see in this video. When George is sitting in the backseat of the patrol car his face tells the story of a broken Man. It's heartbreaking because I do believe he had a heart of gold.
This man was the Johnny Thunder of Country Music...!
honesty from a singer/celebrity!!! these days their agents & publicists would do anything to cover up or atleast play down the problems. George's generation (musically the best) could well be the last to tell us the truth. maybe thats why their music was so good & will live on forever, they sing from the heart about their trials & tribulations.
George passed away today. No one will ever fill his shoes.
It's 2021, they are still empty.
Eminem is better
@@Kylefassbinderful sorry no
Thank God, he made it thru all this. No Matter what, I love this guy. My favorite singer.
The title of George's autobiography "I Lived to Tell it All" speaks volumes. He still drank in very low moderation after finally seeing the light, but his near fatal wreck in the late 90's (after drinking lightly) made him realize he couldn't drink -any- alcohol again. He's a true survivor, & a country music legend.
A country boy will survive!!!,
Rip G.J, you will always be remembered SIR, Thank you for all of the great music and memories you gave to millions of us.
“I thought he was gonna die, I thought i was gonna live for ever” -Waylon Jennings.
Despite what George did back then, he still remains The greatest country singer that we have known.
Rest in peace, George, your music will always live on
You can see a little smirk on Waylons face when he says he told George he needed to straighten up.
RIP to both Legends
I think he had a lot on his mind also life is full of changes my wife has died and his songs help get the teares out I love the fact that he sings beautiful music it when I think of her
George I have played CM for years not to your achievements but I had similiar bouts with the booze and drugs..No one can get thru to you until you are almost dead or almost homeless.I'm so glad I grew up with your music and seeing you at different times..Thanks for the Memories and no matter what I still will play your songs..Take care
just makes me want to listen to more of his music...its true and its from the heart..something that is not found in todays crap
You were man enough to man up and listen George that's all that matters it was a small set back in life you were one of the great ones rip for ever
It seems like most all of the really great artists have some kind of drug/booze problem, and I think it's because the sensitivity it takes to be a great artist, makes them reach out to a substance that can numb them to the harsh reality of the world. I LOVE GJ, and I only wish he'd been able to get off the stuff when he was still with Tammy, who is one of my IDOLS. RIP, GJ & TW. XXXOOO
I'm thinking the being famous and feeling like you can get away with anything might have something to do with it.
I've heard some tales on My myself. Heard the guy she was with beat her or whatever and she had a bad addiction to pain pills.Ive heard that she would hurt herself or fake an injury to get pills from the hospital. That's what I heard. Probably some is very true. That's what I heard. I'm gonna talk about Tammy on my channel. Not promoting anything just some stories and let the people that know fill in the blanks.
OMG 13 years ago u say Damm truth about Tammy
This is a good story from a country legend . I love these King of true stories from the person him or her self
George the best country singer of all time
Yes! Despite all of his flaws and shortcomings.
I 100% agree with you, this is part of the life of a LEGEND you can't hide the bad parts & only show the good times. Jones more than most sings like he's lived every line of his songs. Anyone who's read George's autobiography or watched many of his interviews could see how low the drink & drugs took him & hopefully show that no matter how bad they can overcome their problems. God bless George.
Best description of George Jones I ever read is “The Frank Sinatra of country music”.
Whatever problems or demons George had no one will ever replace him. The man was a legend.
All the old folks are gone now . I remember at home or riding in a semi when I was a little boy an hearing all these singers an when you knew your neighbors an most people were good folks an had honor moral's an were good down home country people an were proud to be an American an didn't forget were they were from. Nowadays its a mess an a messed up bunch of people. These singers will be missed. An the old folks will be missed they had teachings of the old ways an KNEW SHIT WHEN THEY SEEN IT . no one will ever replace these folks . just down home good country folks . not like the people you see nowadays out in public trying to show their ass an act like animals
Mike Myers Willie Nelson, Chris Kristofferson, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton are still around. Not too many others. Mel Tillis is on his way out.

I admire George greatly for talking honestly like this and without being patronising I admire his determination to get out of the serious mess he was in........Not everybody makes it out, even with help from loved ones most just cant do it, its the individual that has to want to get back and George must have a fighting spirit second to none.

I'm convinced that George Jones is the father of Jim Carrey. I mean, he almost looks more like Jim Carrey than Jim Carrey does.
I can see it...but I loved George Jones but very much have an aversion to Jim Carey. As he said only one funny thing ever to me, which is just on opinion of no one that matters to him, " I cannot sanction your buffoonery " as he quoted Tommy Lee Jones telling him and though it was serious on TLJ'S part, he relayed it with grace and humor. We were just sitting around, about 24 of us just laying at the side of the arena on top of some very large rolled up wrestling mats waiting for the trucks for the The George Jones show trucks and crew to load in and set up for a sold out 7500 seat concert in wheeling WV. Load in was at 9 AM. This was before the cell phone. I'm thinking late 80's. Some one from the front office came back and told us that they had gotten a call the promoter saying that George's crew was running a bit behind. Just hang in there and be ready to work to get the show up when they got there. So we all laid back down on the mats half awake and half asleep telling jokes and just waiting. About 11:00 AM a couple of the guys went out the back door to get some air and came back in and said there was a tractor trailer sitting out at the edge of the lot running and they were here. Well 15 minutes later the truck was still setting at the edge of the lot just running. So we figured well maybe that isn't his truck and went back to the mats. lol about 11:30 a long haired fellow came walking in through the back door and asked who was in charge. Our local union steward was standing there and he said i'm the crew chief for the stagehands. The fellow said well I got some good news and some bad news for you. The good news is it's going to be an easy day. the bad news is George is on the other bus. He is drunk and has an 8 ball of cocaine and he is on his way home to Nashville and there isn't going to be a show here today. He said I'm with sound company and that's our truck sitting out there and we have been been waiting for an answer and we just got it. I just wanted to let you all know. Have a good day and out the door he went and we walked out watched that truck and the bus the fellow came in on drive out of the lot and head on down the road. We turned our bill into the front office with our 4 hour minimum for show up time and left. lol 7500 people were pretty pissed off at different times through out the day when they learned there was no concert and they were all eventually refunded their money. The show was not re scheduled.
How many people in music over the years have got into drink and drugs and not come out of it ?? It must take immense strength and determination to kick the stuff , hell I cant even give up eating chocolate !!!
