I actually think, the City is a good looking car, and certainly best looking in the subcompact sedan segment. Its hardly fair to compare it to the Civic, since very few people can afford that car, especially not the RS version, which is the one, people really want. The reality is, that extremely few people in Philippines are willing to pay more than 1M for anything, which is a regular passenger car. As soon as the price goes above that point, they want something more practical and bigger like an MPV or a SUV. So as far as passenger cars go, this is pretty near the top of, what people actually buy in more than completely neglectable numbers.
@Rick Pao If you want to give up reliability then probably yes. It's hard to top the reliability and durability of Hondas and Toyotas. That's what they are known for worldwide. Mazdas are known to fall apart when they age especially when they have the rotary engines back then. Those things are maintenance nightmares.
@Rick Pao The recent Consumer Reports also says that BMW, Audi KIA, Hyundai, and Porsche are more reliable than Hondas. Hahahaha If you know anything about consumer reports, (aside from it being a marketing scheme) they take data from around 50 cars over the course of 2 or so years with continuously controlled test driving. Of course, you won't see any issues with these vehicles with that short amount of time. The elements and normal day to day driving conditions haven't got the chance to beat on the vehicle. Drive a car like a BMW for over 4 years as a "daily" and you will personally know your mechanics very well. I worked part-time as a car mechanic here in the US for 10 years (full-time aircraft tech) and I can tell you which brands of cars are in the shop frequently. Yes, Mazdas were one of them, not as much recently once they got rid of those terrible rotaries like the RX8s. I've seen Hondas and Toyotas with almost half a million miles and still run with aircon still cold. Good luck doing that with a KIA. There was even a time where an older lady stopped by the shop because her civic wasn't "acting right". I pulled the oil dipstick and there was no oil! I was like WTF! How did this lady manage to drove her car to the shop? LOL Similar scenario with an idiot with Toyota Camry who "accidentally" put coolant in his transmission. When it comes to engines, I'd even say that the LS series are one of, if not the best engines in the market. Not just for the year but of all times. Those things are everywhere especially among car enthusiasts because they are easy to work on, puts out a crazy amount of power and built like an engine that you would find in a tank. Don't let those "awards" fool you and do your own research. If anything, one of the most reliable way to measure a car's reliability is its resale value. That's why Toyotas and Hondas hold their resale value so well.
Minor difference. See I dont know how come you didn't notice. 2019 model gets an extra steering at the back. So there are ways you can part away if you have a nasty argument with your wife and take half the car away and leave her in the other part.
its really hard to choose between the two because both have great engines and comes from a great manufacturer. The new Vios looks nice as well as the new City. I really cannot have a full preference but if I will to choose I go for Vios because as we all know Toyota is very easy to maintain and affordable spare parts but City is nicer to look than the Vios and its features are great but it's hard to maintain because Honda's spare parts are very very expensive....that's why I said its really upon your preference.
Thanks for the great review 👌🏻 really leaning on getting the Honda City 2018/2019 next year. ❤️ Quick Question, will it be best to get the City or the BRV? Those two are on my choices 😆 (because BRV offers more space and practicality than the city but I really am dreaming of getting the City) Thank you and Godbless AutoIndustria 🎉
your choice. it all boils down how you intend to use it. People mover = BRV, solo road trip, daily driver = CITY. they both have the same Engine but think, CITY is technically lighter so you get more oomph! from this sedan.

I just bought a city 2020 last january and I must say this is true, 6-8km/l light to heavy traffic. Your 500php (52-53php/l) = 58km. Pero I am very satisfied napaganda, maporma at maganda idrive compare to class segment niya.
For my 2020 VX+ City: - 9.0 km/L combined (450+ km so far; still breaking in the engine and other mechanical parts). - Typical early morning drives from Mindanao Ave. to Ortigas register 10 to 11 km/L. The return trip gets better mileage at around 12 to 13 km/L. - Best so far was an Ortigas to Mindanao Ave. drive-- with light to moderate traffic -- which registered 17.5 km/L. - Worst so far was a drive around the Mindanao-Congressional-Visayas-Road 1 block which registered an abysmal 3.5 km/L. Traffic was horrendous; stop-and-go traffic practically the whole trip. With the CVT, you should get better fuel economy as long as you drive smoothly-- no sudden acceleration or deceleration. The ambient meter in VX/+ also helps a lot; it helps me know when and how to adjust the throttle input in order to get the best fuel economy.
VX trim the sweet spot for this car. But I own the E A/T, never complained. Navigation, Leather Seats, backup cam etc, those can be done outside the casa.
For aftermarket or oem parts availability, technology, and a couple thousands more you can go for the city. For fuel economy, and better city car go for the ciaz. Neither is a bad choice, just focus on your preference.
