Dude. Definitely learned a lot. I’m not a boater but if I ever do have to launch a boat then I’ll think of this video. Props to your girl for getting the footage the night your truck went in the river. She got your back. 👍🏽👍🏽
My dad sunk his truck (85 ranger) once at the landing. Just a small aluminum fishing boat so he figured the parking brake alone was enough and left the truck running. The brake cable snapped and down went the truck. So he calls a tow truck and a diver (to attach the cable) and the diver just happens to be having a diving class that day - and what a perfect demonstration for them. This happened during the middle of the day so a crowd, tow truck driver, and class of divers all got to laugh at my dad's dumb mistake. We got the truck out but it was never the same after, all kinds of little electrical gremlins. He's an engineer and usually very cautious and doesn't take chances, these things happen because we're human. Love the channel.
I made a brake holder with a 1x4 that holds the brake pedal to the floor so that braking is applied to all 4 tires and not just the back two that are most likely in a more slippery location.
Great job of rescuing your truck that night. You did a fantastic job of drying it out and putting back it on the road. A tribute to your knowledge and skills! Thanks for posting your adventure.

We’re all human my man. Not many would be man enough to put this up either. You’re a super man in my eyes. How many of us could even bring this back. You are a very impressive man. Keep your head up
I almost learned the hard way how easy this is. I had an old mercedes diesel I would just leave in gear at work and my co-worker came into work late one morning to tell me my car was rolling down the hill so unbelievably slow it made him laugh, he opened my trunk and threw the first thing he found under the wheel and thankfully no one was parked behind me. It had rolled about 20 feet slowly spinning over the engine 😅. Congrats on saving the truck, and I'm glad years later, this video is still getting engagement and views for you ❤.
Thank you for posting this. I think your mishap will inspire all your viewers to be mindful of using chocks. Besides, we got to see the First Mate in all her loveliness in her swim suit. Eye candy for sure. Y’all have fun and just move on and enjoy yourselves.
I definitely would not have believed that if I didn’t see it myself. That’s pretty amazing. It’s amazing how fast y’all jump into action and got that out. Good for you brother.
Usually I’m laughing at guys dunking their trucks at the boat launch but I know you’re not the kinda guy to do it in stupidity. If it happened to you then it’s one of those things that truly could’ve happened to anyone. Amazing that you got her going again the day after! That’s some no nonsense not messing around!! Cheers from Alberta man! Oh and never thought I’d ever find out how many litres/gallons of water a seat could hold haha!
When the sea was calm, all ships alike showed mastership in floating. My dad kept that Shakespeare quote next to his work phone for years, but it wasn’t until I was 10 that I suspected it wasn’t about boating. When I asked my dad why he’d cut out the line he told me, "true character and success are defined not by how you act when everything is going your way, rather it's how you act when everything isn't."
Ooooh man wow what an experience this was it’s a good reminder for those of us who launch our boats. I have learned that putting my manual trans in reverse works really well because it’s a strong gear wow good job on the recovery and your wife for having the fore thought to record this what an excellent training video for what can and does happen at boat ramps😬😬👍👍

That 4.7 is a great motor. This truly is a testament to your skills and to Toyota. I used to take my 1987 4Runner through deep creeks and never worried about it. Rebuilt the 22RE when I got it and never had an issue with it. Have had several first gen Sequoia's and driving a GX460 now.
Thanks for sharing. Love it! That's about as extreme of a "revival" you can go through. Great content. You are showing us all how to be more humble... life is one big lesson... and then we die! That's it!
Well I am glad that you was able to recover your truck and then resurrect it ! It is a nice truck and looks like it is real solid and rust free. Thumbs UP to you !
Chris, Jen, & Gus we love your videos! As a family my kids and wife and I watched the Gran Torino video! We’re in San Bernardino CA and Lake Havasu AZ so that was cool to watch you go there. You’ve helped me get back to working on cars for fun, i learned with my first car which was a 1968 Fury 3 two door 383 in 2003 at 16. Had a 68 bug a few years ago. Just picked up a California original 67 Jeep Wagoneer 327 Vigalante V8 AMC with 3spd auto and 4WD. 71k miles original black CA plates and not too much rust or any damage at all. Ventura CA owned so it was a coastal car likely. Again great videos and thanks Jen for filming when Chris didn’t feel like it. We had to see it hahaha
I've had that problem before when parked on a steep incline. You only have the compression of the engine holding the weight of the truck from moving backwards. I don't think it would've happened if you had the truck in reverse vs 1st. I've had much better luck parking the truck with the trans in whatever gear the truck is facing (R for backwards and 1st for forwards down a hill)
Wow. Great job saving the truck. Its never about what happens. Its about how you react to what happened. You reacted appropriately and saved the truck. There should never be any haters on that. Glad you and Jenn shared this. Thank you
Man that would has scared the heck out of me I don’t think I would ever recover from that..props to you Chris and Jennifer saying it’s real it’s what it’s all about and you not getting pissed at her for filming it ….what a guy💯
That was a winning episode. You were filming real life. A wow moment for us viewers. Happy and impressed with your ability to get the truck back in order.
I think we could all learn from your positive attitude. It’s one of my favorite ingredients of your videos. Something goes wrong…oh well, you just fix it and move on. Thank you for the knowledge and positive motivation.
Been subscribed for a couple years and just seeing this video now. It shows how even keeled you two are and makes me like you so much more. Hope you have a whole batch or kids together you've got good genes.
Dont let people hate on ya, when you get off the couch an do things in life shit happens. Mine usually starts with a hey watch this ! Then lots of work the next day ,but as long as noone gets hurt all is good !
Yours was a true story, no BS. You are human and humans make mistakes. A few years ago I changed my daughter's oil and had to jack up the Honda from the side because it was so low. Put it in park, jacked it up from the side (on a slanted driveway) ran into the house to pee, and came out with the car in the street. It had slid down the driveway on the jack. I have jacked cars forever but when you put a front-wheeled car in park and jack up the front wheels slightly you will move. Lucky for me to traffic and no damage to the car. My manley smarts were bruised but I did learn a lesson.
Very cool on bringing your truck back to life. I launch from a ramp that makes yours look flat and it has surges with ferry traffic. So one other thing I do, besides using wheel chocks, I have a piece of 2x4 cut to length and wedge that between my foot brake and seat cushion, any little extra can help.
As someone with a decent truck 2000 Chevy c3500 4 door cab 8 foot bed 454 vortex 7.4l engine with a 1974 fiber form I've never once lost my truck in a river but hey I'm glad you posted this it truly shows even if you do something your whole life always take precautions to prevent from losing something you like or care about. Good video though and glad youre mechanically inclined enough to fix the issues but you really seem like a decent guy so I wish the best for you and hope all works out in your endeavors
Man! beautiful contents great video, I can't believe that you were able to get her going again. You are a amazing person, and a great mechanic. That is able to do what you do, that's why you learn all you can, to do jobs like that.
My Brother, I've debated and struggled with who I thought was my favorite YT mechanic, and I based it on overall expertise "as far as I was concerned", anyway... it has always been too close to call for me to decide, with my top three choices being you, at "NNKH", Derek at "Vice-Grip Garage", and Kevin, with his girlfriend "Mook", from "Junkyard Digs", but after this episode, I want you to know I now believe you truly are slightly above both those other guys, and their channels, and I mean that sincerely! Kudos to you, your lovely lady "Jen", and Senior Gus, "The Wonder Weenie", you guys simply rock!
I found your channel two weeks ago and just viewed this one...thanks for creating it... it's great to see someone that knows how to recover from an incident like this...
Awesome content once again! The main reason I subscribed. You dive head first (pun intended) into your work and it seems there is no job too daunting. As others have said, very few people would have tackled the amount of work that took. Thanks to the magic of video, it looked like a quick and not too laborious job, but we all know better. I couldn't think of a better name for your channel. You get to it, and are very knowledgeable and prepared and still find time to educate and entertain as well. Good work!
Any normal man would have called it a loss. But to you, it aint nothing but a thing. You have a God given talent for fixin things my friend. Your coolness about the whole situation is a lesson to us all yet again.
This should have gone viral by now. Thanks for sharing! As a marine mechanic we always say once sunk it will have gremlins for life that only get worse as time progresses, due to corrosion creep, into stranded wire, connectors, sensors, modules, relays, ECM’s, etc. Salt water being worse than fresh, along with how long it was under and how long before problem is addressed. The worst is the second owner problems when they purchase a boat that they didn’t know sank. It happens more than you’d guess. From bilge plug holes clogged with leaves over winter while on a trailer to swamping at the dock due to dead battery-no bilge pump. Then there’s the-forgot to put the bilge plug in! I also cringe when I see off-roaders fording a deep water obstacle. I’d be interested in updates over time over how the truck holds up. Just sold my 2006 Tundra in 2020. Great truck.
What a nice and rare truck. Manual V6 tundra with 4WD. Now you can make another video. How to sell a flooded vehicle. Craigslist advertisement goes: "California truck never seen rain, clean title, all new fluid.
Yeah definitely a tough combo to find! Last year of the manual transmission for Tundra. And nah, I would never do that. If I sell it, I will include this video in the listing
Echo all the other comments, good on you for posting. This is called an oversight. The only real mistakes are those that you know are wrong and you do it anyway. Love the videos and the transparency. Hoping for your continued success.
This is my third boating season and I feel like I am doing very well. However I still like to watch videos like this because you will learn from others. This is my second video I've watched and each one I learned something from you. Sorry this happened to you but you handled it like a boss.
About 15 years ago I had a customer sink their Kawasaki Teryx in a pond after losing control of it on their ranch. Their grandkids managed to not tell them about it for about a week or so. They finally retrieved it and brought it to the shop I worked at. First thing I did was dry out all the electrical that I could with compressed air. After putting all electronics back together and seeing that the unit was operational, I then proceeded to drain all the fluids as well as spin the engine over to dry it out as much as possible. It took 4 oil changes in the engine, front and rear differentials as well as transfer case/transmission to remove all the moisture. I was glad for my customer that we were able to save his UTV from a total loss. I can imagine the relief you felt when you were able to do the same as well as sort through all the “installed” problems you ended up with. Glad to see it worked out for you as well with your perseverance as well as having a good support crew. Keep the content coming!
I am glad you worked it out. Your superior mechanical skills saved you. Did I hear right that saltwater comes up the Delaware River that far from the ocean? (From salt-free Michigan)
You are a true mechanic and an inspiration man. I would have written it off and cried about it all week but you just got on with it and smashed it out the park. Great video man, thanks for sharing.
Great video, right to the point. There's a lot of auto/car content out there that assumes nobody makes mistakes, it's good to see how someone handles it when things DON'T go right. Good on you for saving the truck.
Great example to show people what it takes to recover a vehicle after it’s been flooded out. Don’t buy flood titled vehicles if your not this guy 🤷🏼♂️
He has the know how to overcome the flood issues, but the most important thing is that he immediately drained and dried everything - that doesn't happen when you buy a flooded vehicle, and you have much worse corrosion and electrical issues on those vehicles. My hat's off to Chris for everything I've watched him work on!
I know you said this was embarrassing in the moment but tbh moments like this can give channels a huge boost if the video does well. This is the most authentic content, the unplanned caught of video situations. But it's all about how you bounce back so kudos to Mrs. NNKH for getting that footage. Think she came in more clutch the Alex did lol Seriously tho glad you all are OK and you were able to save the truck. Safe to say lesson learned
Great video, ignore any hater comments they are morons, the only thing to remember is wheel bearings will need cleaned and greased if it's been in deep water ,friend had one like this he just had the bearings changed after a couple of weeks as water was still inside
finally found this after hearing how things still work even after the truck was 12 feet under water. super happy you still have it working. well done for the quick thinking too Chris

Craziest video of all time! Jenn looks great.
We’re all human my man. Not many would be man enough to put this up either. You’re a super man in my eyes. How many of us could even bring this back. You are a very impressive man. Keep your head up
At 9:48, I learned something new. Toyota has built-in fountains in their V8's!
Awesome resque!! Glad you shared it with the world!
This was horrible but now you have a great story. Awesome wife for not getting upset.
Yes, I'm binge watching on a Sunday, bad back so I'm living vicariously through you and loving it.
I definitely would not have believed that if I didn’t see it myself. That’s pretty amazing. It’s amazing how fast y’all jump into action and got that out. Good for you brother.
Best video I have seen. Don't get overwhelmed when there is trouble and don't let depression lock you down when the action has subsided. Awesome.

One of the reasons I enjoy watching your videos and your content is you are a wonderful patriot thank you your friend and biggest fan
North Georgia Mike
Great save and good video! Good to share what it takes to fully recover a swamped vehicle
That's it!
If anyone can fix it, it's you Chris !!!I would've been losing it !! you kept your composure!! My hats off to you !!
Well I am glad that you was able to recover your truck and then resurrect it ! It is a nice truck and looks like it is real solid and rust free. Thumbs UP to you !
Thanks man.
This episode definitely makes the title of the channel perfection. No-nonsense Know How!!
I cant believe you got that truck running the very next day, You are amazing Chris !
Thank you
Your GF cracks me up, “This is what it’s all about”!!
Haha yeah, apparently the pinnacle of boating is sinking your truck in the river! Lol
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow LMAO
Man that would has scared the heck out of me I don’t think I would ever recover from that..props to you Chris and Jennifer saying it’s real it’s what it’s all about and you not getting pissed at her for filming it ….what a guy💯
Im just glad your buddy was there to help you save it and glad you recovered it safely and it didn't kill it!💗
That was a winning episode. You were filming real life. A wow moment for us viewers. Happy and impressed with your ability to get the truck back in order.
Great job on fixing the water damage. Great determination 👍.
I think we could all learn from your positive attitude. It’s one of my favorite ingredients of your videos. Something goes wrong…oh well, you just fix it and move on. Thank you for the knowledge and positive motivation.
Just now seeing this...man, you are a tenacious mechanic...amazing story!!!
Thanks Johnny
The amount of slime you can find on a boat ramp is amazing. I fell right on my ass one time. We always use 4wd when launching.
Need some power in front. Not rear on slimes. Cuz your rear will be close to water or in water.
This shows commitment and awesome content, you rock man!
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I know. Im just messing with you.
what a great video. The fact you got it on video is wonderful! sorry you had to go through this, but it is super entertaining and educational.
Love your tenacity and follow though. I think I would have junked the truck. GREAT JOB!!
Echo all the other comments, good on you for posting. This is called an oversight. The only real mistakes are those that you know are wrong and you do it anyway. Love the videos and the transparency. Hoping for your continued success.
I did expect Andrew camarata and a excavator to turn up
Wow that was kinda scary even to watch ... glad your ok thats the most important thing ....
if you're on a hill to roll backwards, try leaving it in reverse. lower gear ratio and it wont force your engine to move the wrong direction
lmao WHAT???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The motor doesnt spin backwards because its in reverse
If you leave it in reverse at a boat ramp, that will cause the engine to spin in normal direction
This is my third boating season and I feel like I am doing very well. However I still like to watch videos like this because you will learn from others. This is my second video I've watched and each one I learned something from you. Sorry this happened to you but you handled it like a boss.
I see it's very unfortunate for this to happen to you glad you showed the content very informative you kept your cool really like your channel.
Hands down one your best videos man. Love how humble you are about your skills.
Did you drain the water from the doors or is there drains?
Thanks man appreciate you and yes the doors have drains on the bottom
Awesome save!! Cool to see someone just dive in like it's no big deal and fix things. Nice complete video too, like the way you laid it out.
Thanks man. And no all fresh water up here.
You are a true mechanic and an inspiration man. I would have written it off and cried about it all week but you just got on with it and smashed it out the park. Great video man, thanks for sharing.
Great work saving it, stuff happens man! Great adventure!
